  1. We had to put on hold the application for me to sponsor my husband for a partner visa until my citizenship was resumed. I know that it now has to be a paper application but now I can't work out how to pay again. It appears you can't do it with a bank transfer, nor a debit card. How?
  2. Now I have it again so can resume application. I was told you had to resume application for visa by mail ( not internet). How do you repay the fee?
  3. Wow, not long for you Mark! Super fast timings. We are still waiting to sell our house - been on the market for nearly 4 weeks. My husband may be offered a job in Sydney (we find out in the next couple of days), so we may end up starting our Oz journey there! Exciting times for us all. X So so so envious. We submitted 1/2.CO assigned the same time as you BUT I then discovered that I wasn't Australian -I am the sponsor! I took out British citizenship in 1999 and unbeknown to myself, I lost my Ozzie citizenship- I have renewed passports -no trouble but obviously cannot sponsor my husband without Ozzie citizenship. If you thought that applying forthe visa was bad -try resumption of citizenship. You can onlydo it through Canberra- Australia House can't help- Theywont respond or accept any evidence by email; they deny receiving certificates which you resend but then it is held up by Border Control for 3 weeks. Eventually 2 1/2 months after starting the process they agree they have everything they need but it will take another 77 days to process. Why? When I finally become an Aussie again we can restart visa process. We wanted to go out in October- seems highly unlikely as obv have to sort out our house here!!!!
  4. We are still waiting - really not at all happy. After you received it, was it easy to resume sponsoring your partner?
  5. We put in an application for me to sponsor my husband(British) of 39 years so that we could go back to live in Australia to join daughter and grandchildren. We did this in feb 2016. I thought I was Australian- born there of Aussie parents, grandparents- great grandfather was the first Australian born gov general, great great granddaughter of convict. Little did I know that in 1999 when I took out British citizenship, I had revoked my Australian citizenship. ( My children have dual citizenship - taken out at birth so I had assumed that the same thing applied to me). In May 2016 I was told that I could not sponsor my husband as I was no longer an Aussie -despite the fact that I have a current passport and no one had told me. I could apply for resumption of citizenship. It is now almost 3 months later and I am still waiting. Because this can only be done by snailmail and not the internet all evidence and paperwork has had to be sent by mail. Because of the problems of Royal Mail and Aus Post this has taken weeks. - despite me sending it track and trace each time it has taken 3 weeks. The oca has had all evidence for 2 weeks. Has anyone else had a similar experience in getting resumption of citizenship and how long does it take? The dept in Canberra will not respond to my emails. Australia House in London say it is not their dept.
  6. My husband has a medical tomorrow but has misplaced the confirmation letter. He is panicking. Is there anything he needs to take with him?
  7. But I had no idea I was not an Australian citizen. I have always had an Australian passport. I reapplied in 2007 for a renewal and nothing was mentioned. I had no idea I wasn't Australian. I travelled 4 times last year to Australia on an Australian passport. If I had realised I would certainly have applied for resumption. The whole thing came to light when I became a sponsor for my husband
  8. yes easy enough but............ it has to be sent by snail mail and it all takes time 2-4 months I'm told. We had to withdraw the application for partner visa for my husband and have to send in applic again. Unnecessary bureaucracy
  9. Ok - problem! I am an Australian born and bred. I went to live in UK in 1973. I had 2 children in UK and registered them at birth as Australian citizens. They have dual nationality. In 1999 I applied for and was granted British citizenship - I was fed up of standing in a different queue to the rest of the family. Little did I know until I applied for a partner visa for my husband that because I willingly took up British citizenship in 1999, I had renounced my Australian citizenship. This is despite the fact that I have an Australian passport which was reissued in 2007. Therefore I cannot sponsor my husband until my Australian citizenship is resumed! Ridiculous. If this had happened after 2002 there would be no problem.
  10. Yes you can, but I am being asked for provide evidence that I did not cease to be an Australian citizen in 1999.
  11. I thought I had dual citizenship but have just discovered that when I, an Australian took out British citizenship in 1999 my Aust citizenship was defaulted- despite getting a new Aus passport in 2007. This came to lightwhile applying for my husband to get a partner visa!
  12. We were phoned. There is no change on account status. Still says Application Received - obviously I was not approved
  13. What is a PR holder? The kids are ok. They both have Australian citizenship
  14. My case officer has requested this from Canberra. They will either simply resume the citizenship retrospectively ( best case scenario) or send me details on how I do this. In the latter case,we have to withdraw the application for partner visa until I become an Ozzie citizen again because you can't sponsor a partner if you are not an Ozzie citizen and start the process again. I was told that the date of our original application would stay (x fingers). Of course there are cost implications but hey ho
  15. I would have thought so but apparently before 2002 if you voluntarily took out citizenship of another country - ie not because of birth, you lost your Aust citizenship. Thing is no one told me and they reissued passport.
  16. We have Case Officer too BUT he says I may not be an Australian citizen!!!! I am the sponsor. I was born in Oz of Oz parents with Oz birthcertificate and passport. I became a British citizen in 1999. He says that invalidated my Aus citizenship. No one told me. My children are dual nationality so assumed I could. How wrong I was. Disaster
  17. We are hoping to move to Oz in October from near London. Any recommendations or don't dos? Advice re insurance, companies etc would be great.
  18. It shows an error then it shows -with me the application. We put ours in on Feb 1st and nothing has happened since, nothing to track
  19. But we haven't been assigned a case officer as yet. Thought you couldn't have a medical until after CO assigned, also UK Police Check. You are lucky
  20. Congratulations. Gives us all hope. What type of visa? Is it a 309? Where did you apply? When did you get a case officer? How long did it take to get a medical?
  21. i thought you had to go to a doc recommended - my son in law had to go to a doc near Oz house rather thasn his gp
  22. Just wondered why you have been able to get a caseworker. We lodged my husband's application on 1st Feb and was told in March they were still processing applications for December. Still heard nothing
