  1. Perhaps the first question to answer is who would be your sponsor for the 187?
  2. Well, I dunno how they're going to look on it in Australia; however, lying on a CV can get you lodged on the CIFAS register back in the UK. I would hope that Australia is sensible enough to have a similar register. Application fraud is a serious offence. This is in no way directed at you, personally; however, to not acknowledge that this is effectively fraud wouldn't do anyone any favours, either. Edited to add: I would also cut out the 'lol'. Fraud isn't a laughing matter, as someone who has been on the receiving end of fraudsters, in the past, knows all too well.
  3. Dunno... Perhaps there's a restriction on specifically defined short-term holiday lets or hotel rooms? Technically, any rental is a temporary arrangement in the UK unless it's under a long term lease. Personally, I think it a bit mad that there'd be such a restriction. Would you want to hack off someone with the cash to stay at the Savoy for the first five months on arrival!?
  4. Mate, No idea regarding the rules, but just want to say I love your website. Nice to see someone who gets out there and spreads their wings so openly.
  5. I did it on my own. Cost me the ACS assessment fee, police certificate charge, medicals, application fee, and a few quid for certification of documents. All in, about £3,000 or so. I had a straightforward case, many do not. Personally, I do not think an agent could have added value to my application; however, many people find that they do. They charge appropriately for the services they provide. Just make sure that you use a MARA registered agent, should you use one at all.
  6. Christ alive, mate! You nearly gave me a heart attack until I got to the second sentence. Diane Abbott as PM is a truly terrifying prospect...
  7. Hi Bud, Apologies for the delay - had a few little things to pick up on. I had 65 as Developer Programmer. More than happy for you to send private messages / email me (think I sent you my email address previously - apologies if this slipped my mind. I blame my tablets ) By all means, gimme a shout. Things are nowhere near as bleak as they might seem
  8. I disagree. At least Boris could argue he gave it a try, and hopefully Brexit fails. Boris can pull on the heart strings of the eurosceptics whilst still maintaining general popularity amongst the rest of the 1922 committee. I can think of few things more damaging for the UK than Osborne as PM.
  9. If in doubt, then it is probably always wise to seek some professional guidance. No shame in saying when you're not absolutely certain about something
  10. Determining the primary residence would probably be something that flies under the radar, ordinarily; however, with that sort of budget, and the stamp duty incurred, I would imagine HMRC could cast a glance. Has the OP tried consulting Mossack Fonseca? I understand they can help with things like stamp duty.
  11. I still like to think they just took pity on me because I'm Scottish and was probably hammered when I applied.
  12. I'm generally just more confused about why the OP mentioned both IT and Accountancy... Both pretty different fields. If you've 70 for accountancy, you'll be fine (but I understand all accountants tend to have pretty lengthy waiting times); if you've 60 for any IT field, you might have a few months wait (as long as you're not a business analyst, but don't get me started on whether that's even IT - I'm a developer and architect by nature), but the invite should hop along in due course. Just find it interesting that someone could qualify for both distinct fields.
  13. Apologies for lack of clarity, Bungo: to clarify, when I say I lodged them under her maiden name, I mean I put her maiden name in the online form -> the documents themselves had her married name. Poor old CO would be opening files under her maiden name and wondering who this married woman would be... Hey ho, all academic now.
  14. Are you reading Computer Science, Daniel? If so, that might help ease things up for you if your experience is related to one of the ANZSCO codes for IT that are on the SOL. ( I ask, as I brought myself up to speed to submit my own 189 for 261311 not so long ago - you could be closer than you think to a permanent residence visa, if the stars align )
  15. Whilst it is never a pleasing thing to repeat or reiterate things that might sound negative, I think Marisa's got the nail on the head. To do all of that without actually being awarded the visa is surreal.
  16. You'll get a little email saying you've been invited to apply. Good luck!
  17. Your PR status is permanent (i.e. for life), as long as you hold the visa. Your right to travel outside and return to Australia is dependent on having right to return status (in which case you would need an RRV at some point, unless you take citizenship - and for this, you may need to demonstrate an ongoing commitment to Australia if you've not been in the country for a while). If you arrived in November 2012, then you may be eligible for citizenship in the near future. Once a citizen and holding your passport, your PR visa will be cancelled and you can enter and leave Australia freely.
  18. I went through the 2613 stream myself, buddy. As it's pro-rata'd, only a set number of invitations will be offered each fortnight. With 60 points, it's possible you might receive an invitation before the start of the next invitation year in July; however, I would add that it could take a few more months dependent on how many 65+ pointers have applied recently and how many apply come the start of the next year (if 261311 is still on the SOL). On the plus side, you're in the queue.
  19. I quite agree. No point feeding the troll, I'll clear out my posts. If a mod could delete the ref, I'd be grateful.
  20. Yes, well, the Hawaiian flag has the Union Flag incorporated into it as well. Last I checked, we had pretty stringent migration rules for Americans, as well. Your argument's really very futile.
  21. Personally, I'd be more scared of Canada's neighbours than the wildlife.
  22. Mate, the only thing I'm taking seriously right now is making sure I have Alka Seltzer in the cupboard.
  23. I put this down to a legacy of bleeding heart, politically correct liberalism in the UK. It has caused people to become hugely upset when there's absolutely no reason to be. Or, as I like to phrase it, everybody's a victim... ETA - If you think I'm only writing this because I'm pissed, I'm afraid you're wrong. Edited further: But please don't think that you're wrong, if it would upset you. I can do without the ear ache. We wouldn't want to hurt your precious sensibilities.
  24. Absolutely smashed. Wandered into Bristol to meet a mate for lunch and a bit of business. A few ciders at the Cornubia turned into a few apple pies on the Apple, which turned into a bottle of Malbec at Hotel du Vin, which turned into nibbles and Grappa at Piccolino, which culminated in me wandering back to the Apple and having some cider. I can't honestly tell you what I had there. I am surprised I'm still capable of typing!
