  3. Is income protection insurance not covered as part of your super? Im confused
  4. I spoke to the ATO and I don't earn enough (90k - 105K pa) to be auto charged the medicare levy, therefore its my own choice whether I take out private health cover (i need to look into this as if there are no tangible benefits whats the point - I'm 32 and pretty healthy). She said as I am now a permanent resident I will automatically be taxed the 2% in order to access medicare generally. I have super with work which includes a lump some for life insurance (i thin). I need to look into that..
  5. Hey all, I finally got my residency via 186 transition. Now I am a resident, what things to do i need to? I know i need to update medicare so I get the same benefits as an Australian. What about the ATO and my tax? Also, health insurance? I know i have a year to sort out health insurance before my tax is loaded for health cover for my life time, but is it worth taking out private insurance? Finally, now I am a resident am I restricted for working for the company that sponsored me and nominated me for my residency or can i leave? Any other information would be helpful, as I dont know what i need to do or I am entitled to! Thanks!
  6. Hey all. Got my PR yesterday. It was actually finalised on 28th but the lawyer didn't tell me til Monday. 6 months and 7 days. Nom and Visa 21.07.16, LR, 1 person, transition, NSW-PESE, Received > Finalised no docs requested. Social worker. On top of the world. Good luck to everyone!!
  7. Hi guys, currently on a bridging visa waiting for a decision on my 186 transition visa. Im using a migration agent and both myself and the my company submitted all the info required and the visa was submitted with everything on the same day. Im just wondering what if any info will immi request of me or my employer? What is the usual things they seek clarification on? Thanks
  8. Im confused. I have been told by HCF i can't get health insurance until I am PR. So providing I get it before 1 year after my PR is granted I dont get penalised?
  9. Hello all, I was on a 457 and now I am on a bridging visa, pending my transition PR 186 application being approved. I was told by HCF when I got my 457 I couldn't get full health insurance until I was PR. However I've seen this thing about needed health insurance if you are over 31 years and if you dont get it you will insure a life time health cover loading. Im 32 next month. What do I do? Thanks!
  10. Hi All. Currently in the process of lodging transition 186. What (if at all) requested docs would immi want on top of the stuff my MA is submitting with the application?
  11. Yes i get its not a joke. As i am currently shitting myself. I love australia and as a social worker I have built up a strong relationship withthw children i work with over the past 2 years. It was more the title of a couple of my roles and some of the responsibilities. I "sexed it up" rather than completely lied about my experience. I know I have to be honest about it, but im worried. I have already spoken to the agent and she said get all the information to her and she can consult the team and discuss options. cheers
  12. Ah ok sweet. Just one snag. I told a couple of porkie pies on my CV originally and HR found out. They dealt with it internally, but the visa agent I'm using knows as well. Could this mess my application up? My original 457 was submitted using the dodgy CV lol.
  13. Hey all, Wanted some advice re my 186 permanent resident application. I have been sponsored on a 147 visa for two years and my employer is going to nominate me via the temporary resident transition stream. What evidence is required for the application? I know there is no skills assessment, and my occupation is still on the skills list (social worker), but what further information will i be required to provide? Thanks in advance!!
