  2. Sunderland to Adelaide just under £6000 which includes insurance I think container price was around 5400 i used Allieds own insurer because there is no excess , a previous trip we had something broken excess was 250 value was 250 so we didn't claim Our car is packed in with the furniture all done with Allied Pickfords who have been very good and the lads doing the packing were great
  3. Hallelujah Ralphy passed his last lot of tests and Golden Arrow have the results back on thier desk so he can fly 27th as planned A huge relief all round and a huge thank you to Golden Arrow who have certainly gone the extra mile !!!
  4. Just had an email off Golden Arrow to say the lab has the bloods and they will provided tests don't need to be redone they will have the results this afternoon uk time my Heart is in my mouth still but one thing I must say is I cannot fault how Golden Arrow has handled things they have been so supportive and helpful
  5. They have been fantastic and yes they are pulling out all stops I should know Monday or Tuesday if Ralphy can travel If not my vets are going to get a phone call they wont like ! They had not from the sound of it even realised the results had not come back to them you would have thought they would have flagged the item on their system and known straight away it hadn't eventuated grrrrr
  6. Absolutely devastated at the minute as we have found out our vets have lost Ralphys last blood tests and his flight for Wednesday may have to be rescheduled they were supposed to email them to myself and golden arrow as they knew I was out of the U.K. On 20th No email came so I emailed the shippers and vet ,golden arrow contacted Weighbridge and were told sample was never received My vet then rang me said the samples were posted but not received at Weighbridge Golden Arrow have had Ralphys blood taken agin and fast tracked in the hope they get results for Tuesday lunch time I must say they have been absolutely fantastic and supportive so I can only hope thier efforts to get our boy out on time work
  7. Hubby never had hay fever in the UK suffers a lot in SA where the actually show the pollen count on the weather !
  8. Cheeky woman if you hadn't told her about the dual nationality you were not lying you just hadn't told her ! I know they have rules and regulations but often wonder how the persons of interest as some are termed seem to slip through when ordinary Joe Blow doesn't
  9. I just got this lovely email from the company who are shipping Ralphy made my day ! Hi Pat, My name is Fiss – married to Chris, and it is me who is looking after Ralphy whilst he is with us! Chris and I got back from a couple of days in Bavaria last night and when I went to check round the kennels Ralphy had eaten all the food he had been given earlier in the evening, and he has eaten again this morning! He had a good run out in the grass run this morning – he seems happy and content, if a little bemused about what is going on! There is someone around here all the time, so he is getting plenty of attention! He has his basket and some Vet bed in his kennel, also his toy! He is actually a very handsome chap! I cannot remember the last time we had a black Shar Pei here, but he is gorgeous looking! I have been tickling him under his chin, but he is fine with a stroke down his back, he jumped up this morning for attention, and then leant against my leg - I think he will be totally settled in the next day or so, and then it will be time for him to start on his big adventure! Email me any time you like, but if you don’t have time to reply, I will still keep you up to date on how he is getting on! With love from Ralphy and me (Fiss)!
  10. Well our boy was picked up by a lovely gentleman from Golden Arrow this morning  Walked out on his lead quite happily it was when he realised he was going in a strange car he backed off Hubby lifted him in and the look he gave us was what started me off crying ,hubby not much better I know he will be well looked after but I feel like one of the kids has left home bit lost
  11. I think in his situation he really was not thinking straight he was packed ,30 minutes away from leaving for the aiport ,just over two weeks ago when he got a call to say his Dad had passed a way He said he hopes he does not feature on border control lol
  12. Ok thanks that could be another option I think he will get a UK passport ok he does have his old expired one but he will need as much ID as possible when he goes to Liverpool
  13. Regarding my comments I think some have taken it that I thought it was funny or weird ( I didn't use that word Bungo ) that my friend was stopped Of course he should be stopped a foreign passport on a one way ticket should attract attention and the immigration guy did the right thing When I said it was funny it was me laughing at the situation on a personal level because the same guy travels so much its like god bless you He normally fast tracks through every airport quickly and cleanly but one mistake and he was snookered ! Normally he is a very organised and precise person he was not thinking clearly when he booked the one way ticket ( remember he just lost his Dad ) He was laughing when he rang me and could see the funny side of it as well as like me he has got a good sense of humour
  14. Must admit I have had to laugh on this one !The story is about a well heeled business man who has travelled extensively for years until today ! He was born in the UK naturalised Australian so he allowed his UK passport to expire years ago and travels on his Aussie one He does travel extensively for work and that includes trips to the UK ,Portugal ,India ,Pakistan and China ( he is often in China for weeks ) Anyway he was stopped at Manchester airport this morning frog marched into Immigration and delayed for an hour and a half because he has entered on a one way ticket ! The reason for that is he was retrenched a while back in Oz and a UK firm head hunted him so he now works for them ! He did have a return ticket from Australia but on the eve of his departure his Dad passed away so he cancelled that and quickly booked the one way ticket - he is used to booking at a moments notice and thought he could sort his return to Oz when he finds out his plans for work here in the UK Immigration were a bit iffy with him and told him he will need his UK passport and advised that if he goes to Liverpool he can get one in four hours -is that correct ? Problem as well is that he needs to go to Portugal in two weeks time but he said the immigration guy relented and gave him some sort of pass that says he can leave the UK and re-enter for up to 6 months Does anyone have any info on how quick he can get the UK passport and also a birth certificate as he only has a copy available to him I can see the funny side of things though as he has more air miles than Biggles !
  15. Fingers crossed they might head you in the right direction good luck
  16. many thanks Mary - Anne I will check it all out later today as I booked quarantine myself plus did the BICON site myself to get Ralphys permits I have just left the vets with all relevant letters etc and sent them to my shippers We do have time really to sort it once we are in OZ as we get there ahead of Ralphy but just feel quarantine should not keep moving the goalposts grr
  17. Re my previous note - I am waiting for an answer from Jetpets as to if I need to access the BICON site and upload the authorisation myself or can it just be uploaded as a document to PEQ I obtained the import permit myself ( hope I can remember the login to Bicon !) but if others are shipping their pets and the shippers obtained the permit the new rule could have an effect if the authorisation in Oz does have to go through the Bicon site
  18. I have just had information from Jetpets who are going to fly Ralphy from quarantine to Adelaide I had filled in a letter for them giving them permission to pick up Ralphy from quarantine Seems quarantine have changed the ruling and said letter of authority needs to be uploaded to the peq site site love how they change the rules midway !
  19. Removalists in today to lac up , cart it all away tomorrow ' of course it's raining so they will have to dodge between the garage and the house oh joy Our dog goes to his kennels on Monday the car goes to shippers on Tuesday with any last minute bits and pieces We fly out Wednesday and hope it has all gone smoothly - yeah right as the Aussies say lol
  20. Have you looked at the Women's and children's hospital ( assuming they have one ) it's on the outskirts of the city and may have more information to child related health Plus look at Cafhs SA might help http://www.cyh.com/SubContent.aspx?p=144
  21. Just arranged it for 12 month on our UK property in case it doesn't sell - if it sells within 6 months then we get part of the premium back Ok to keep water etc on but turn it off at the stop cock so need need to drain the central heating system £264 for 12 months which I feel is good as now I have peace of mind as my current insurers are online and anything out of the norm gets put in the too hard basket The company is fresh insure.co.uk if anyone is interested
  22. When we returned to the UK in 2013 we were allready getting our UK pensions plus our Centrelink pensions so the DWP when we told them we were living in the UK again sent us forms as they said they would have topped up our English pension based on our pre 2001 work records in Oz Obvioulsy when we told them we were getting full Centerlink pensions we didn't get the top up on the English pensions But our Uk pensions have been unfrozen and we do now get the annual albeit small increase Gets so complicated it makes my head twizzle now we have to do it all in reverse as we are going back to Oz again lol
  23. The company shipping our boy are doing the Defra bit we have done the rest as in gone through tests etc and got the documentation Plus I waded through the BICON site to get the import permit for Australia took a bit od ping but got there in the end !
  24. It would seem so if they say that our vets stamp is red so goodness knows I must admit I check check and double check everything as we took our Cocker Spaniel many years ago when we originally emigrated and know we had to jump through hoops Keep the forum up to date when you do get the results and hope all goes well My anxiety levels are very high at the minute as our boy gets picked up on the 18th April and will fly on 27th !
  25. Maybe give your vet a call Cherry just to ease your own mind apart from anything else and make sure he has that precious red stamp The company taking our Pei in April take his vets card and it travels with him http://www.agriculture.gov.au/cats-dogs if you go onto the link to the Oz government website and type in the date you would like your dog to travel it them comes up with the step by step instructions of what to do when I originally printed it all out and showed by vets as they had sent dogs to the USA and Canada but not Australia
