  1. Thanks for that, have nudged accordingly to get my parents started ;-)
  2. Hi there, quick query on the contributory parents visa when applied for offshore. Assuming all straightforward with medicals etc., how long does it currently take? Cheers Ferrets
  3. It seems to have registered to my parents that we are getting close to a visa (hopefully invitation next round), and they have decided they need to look at moving too. Apart from my brother (who lives in Brisbane and would be a sponsor), we have little family left in the UK, and once we are gone they would like to follow. Plan would be for them to go the contributory visa route (not going to wait for the others), Dad is 75 and Mum is 67. Does anyone have a view on the timelines for these visas from start to finish? I want to try to encourage them along the process as I think they would be ok with medicals now but would be awful if they held back for a bit and then couldn't get through those when we had all gone! Thanks Ferrets
  4. I am no expert (my EOI application was straightforward), but when you are thinking about a situation involving adoption / absent biological father make sure you have expert advice, making sure any agent is registered. There are lot of pitfalls, but from lurking / reading forums I would be surprised if a MARA agent would recommend to travel and apply from within without resolving some important questions first!
  5. Hi there, Welcome to the forum. More knowledgeable folks will no doubt be able to chip in more, but given the various complexities you have outlined suggest a consultation with a MARA registered agent. I did most of my EOI preparation myself, but did have a consultation to make sure I was on the right track.....just wish I had done it at the start of the process  Ferrets
  6. Hi Captain, I noted that the DOE for one of the Pro-rata occupations Accountants (2211) has now caught up with the general pool - what would the potential impact of that be, i.e. would the accountants go back into go slow after accelerating over the last couple of rounds? Cheers Ferrets
  7. Suggest you look at the roles for each and go for the closest fit. http://www.abs.gov.au/ausstats/abs@.nsf/Product+Lookup/7437179C7B7C1EEECA2575DF002DA5D8?opendocument Good luck Ferrets
  8. Hi there, Here's a link to the statutory declaration templates. https://www.ag.gov.au/Publications/Pages/Statutorydeclarations.aspx I had to do this for degree syllabi, and luckily found this an hour before I was due down at the high commission!
  9. Thanks Captain...if it's only 1100 I will cross my fingers that mine comes through as predicted ;-)
  10. Thanks Captain, I suppose the query was that if the pro rata amount is ~210 per month will they ever invite more? If not does that mean that the total programme ceiling is effectively 1845 for the year (585 invited + 6*210)?
  11. Hi there, Playing the waiting game at the moment for my DOE to count down to invite day, but had a query on the pro rata occupations. For 2211 (Accountants) the occupation ceiling is 2525 (~210 per month), with only 585 having been invited after 6 months. My query is whether this means that they will offer invites for the total balance of 1940 places, or only 1260 (6 months to go * 210)? On some forums there seems to be an assumption that they will relax points requirements (currently 70) to ensure that all places are used, but that doesn't make sense to me if you end up inviting a lot of accountants over the last couple of months of the migration year, thereby blocking other professions. Hopefully no impact to me, but was pondering this one and wondered on opinions. Cheers Ferrets
  12. Congrats! Fingers crossed they are clearing the accountants with 70 points a bit quicker now!!
  13. What about form 80s and 1221s, or are they not needed for an application via immiaccount?
  14. Thanks for that, going through the process now to get the medical and pcc done. Are there any other forms that need completing as a part f the 189 process I need to be getting on with? Congrats on the direct grant.....if it were me not sure I could wait 6 months for the move!!!
  15. We're in the UK, and she has been for 12 years so all of her documentation has actually transitioned over to mainland stuff, with the exception of her birth certificate. Have gone with UK for the frontloaded health check (given there is no option for Guernsey) and will then go Guernsey on the application itself. Thanks Ferrets
  16. Hi all, I am keen to front load our medicals, and when I go onto my health deflation on immiaccount I have to choose a 189 or a 190 visa. I have an EOI in for both visa types, does this make a difference which one I choose? As I've been filling out the details I'm asked for national identification documents for my family. My wife was born in Guernsey, but there isn't an option for this to show as the nationality on her birth certificate. Do I leave blank or just put United Kingdom (she is a UK citizen) Cheers Ferrets
  17. Thanks for that. It seems that to submit the "My Health Declaration" I need to choose whether it's a 189 or a 190 Visa that I'm going with - was that the case for you? Additionally whilst I can see a whole lot of applications that I can choose (including health) there is no option for a 189/190 visa under Skilled Migration - does that appear one you have received an invitation to apply via skillselect?
  18. Hi all, I have submitted my EOIs (189 and 190) and now the waiting game begins. However, I don't like waiting, and wondering if there is anything else I can do to prepare for the invitation. I have prepared the documentation for our Police Certificates in the UK, but how do I go about front loading medical checks? Do I need to create a new Immiaccount, and how do I link that through to my invitation when received? Any advise would be much appreciated. Thanks Ferrets
  19. Ah well...turns out the devil was in the detail - because my wife has not practiced post University she would have been required to undertake the equivalence of qualification pathway (i.e. would not meet the requirements of the standard assessment pathway). Under that irrespective of experience via clinical rotations whilst at University, the course needed to be 4 years in duration (that is the length of an Australian Physio degree). It quite specifically warned that a 3 year degree was unlikely to be considered an equivalent to an Australian qualification, neatly closing this avenue. I will have to think of something else to fill the time till we hopefully get an invite ;-)
  20. I'm hoping the degree is enough for migration assessment, skilled employment assessment is separate. I posted my 189 (70 points) and 190 (70 + 5 points) EOIs on 1/12/15, but would prefer to get the 189, so hence my query
  21. Thanks guys, just being impatient and keen for the move!!
  22. Hi all, As I am an impatient type I have been trying to work out how to get some more points since my EOI was posted. I am currently under ANZSCO code 221112 as a Management Accountant with 70 points. However....my wife has a degree in Physiotherapy. Problem is that due to job shortages when she graduated, she never had any professional experience, and moved off to other things. Any views on whether such a degree (UK 2:1) and having been previously chartered would be enough to get her a positive skills assesement? She graduated 10 years ago but I'm sorely tempted as I want to get to the sun asap ;-) Cheers Ferrets the Fez Meister
  23. Good work fella, keep a cold one on the bar for me!!!
  24. Skills assessment finalised so I get to join the thread now: 1. 221112 2. Management Accountant 3. 70 points 4. 01/12/2015 Fingers crossed the invitations start moving for the 2211 codes!
