  1. I died a little inside when the Australian woman in port Stephens said we were in for a hotter summer than usual lol
  2. I can make instant coffee haha!! I want a job in there
  3. I haven't a clue, I'll have to ask the girl who told me about it
  4. All hostels in Sydney are almost booked up. The ones left are like $500 or 600. The girl that was going to go to Melbourne with me went to see another 2 flats here today and said they were both still terrible. For some reason she loves Sydney so much that she's still willing to pay for these really bad ones just to stay here. I think that's ok if you actually like it here but I don't. If I didn't worry as much as I do or if I had more money then I'd just go up the east coast like everyone else
  5. @flag I don't mean locals when I say about a guy lol it's just someone I know. I honestly don't know what to do. I was originally going to start my whv in Perth and then I got caught up in the Sydney hype like I mentioned before. Melbourne makes more sense because it's much nearer but I have a pull to Perth. I don't know wether it's because Of people on here. Also there's quite a few country pub jobs down south WA etc. but my head does say that it doesn't make sense to go all the way over to come back in 4 months
  6. I don't think I can resist the call of the quokkas...
  7. Haha no I didn't mean about meeting a bloke! If I was travelling for a bloke I'd be going to the NT! Right ive narrowed it down to Melbourne and Perth. I can't decide. One day I'll look back and laugh at how ridiculous I am!
  8. Yeah that's what I was thinking too. They've been picking places like Byron bay and it doesn't exactly scream out employment central to me but I don't know much about it. If I don't find hospitality work in Melbourne or some sort of country pub type job in regional Victoria then I'll probably just find a family to au pair for and then at least I'm not eating into my savings. There's a girl that was supposed to be coming to the Manchester meet up, she's au pairing in bondi and loves it. She's met a bloke there too apparently. I did think about doing that but I haven't really looked into it enough
  9. Yeah we got told cairns is cheap and that we can get an apartment for $130 or something like that. A lot of people are heading up that way before they start working. I really really want to do all the touristy stuff like Fraser Island right now but I just don't want to run out of money
  10. I did look at doing a car share thing between Sydney to Melbourne but I'm just going to fly
  11. It's just the past few days I've had bad luck with. Before that it was fine, I really liked my first room and wish I'd got the contact details of 2 of the people because they were going to Melbourne. Btw why didn't anybody tell me Melbourne had a cat cafe?!
  12. 2 of the girls from my group are in that YHA one. I think you should do that idea with bunk beds in your house but I get mates rates. One of the tour guides lives in surry hills. She said she's sharing a room with 4 other people and it's costing her $170
  13. I checked into a new room, I feel like I've been all over this hostel haha. I keep going from extremes - rooms that have orgies to rooms that everybody's in bed by 9 and now I'm in a room that at first was a total state and I thought it was only men in it. Now I've walked in and it's just women in it at the moment and nobody speaks to each other at all. Plus Im on the top bunk, I knew I couldn't be lucky and get the bottom bunk the full trip lol. My bank card arrived today so I'm feeling a lot better about that. Don't feel as trapped
  14. Feeling a bit overwhelmed and emotional with everything today. Stupid hormones! Wonder if I'm still jetlagged haha.
  15. No course not but I can't think of anywhere regional that I can get to without a car that will have decent job opportunities. the guides said that cairns has cheap accommodation but then it comes down to the whole weather and job thing again
  16. One of my friends from the group has went to see 5 or 6 flat shares since she's been here and she's said they've all been terrible. She's got one tomorrow and then after that she might come to Melbourne. She loves Sydney though but it's mad the amount of money they can take for something that's barely liveable. A girl that checked into my room today said the same, there's 3 of them trying to find a place together and she said the ones she's been to are like below the poverty line type thing but I think they wanted more than $250 each
  17. they are going to New Zealand. God help nz. I'm down the hall from them a bit and I can still hear them the now shouting really loudly with some guys. So glad I'm not in that room lol
  18. Yeah I wish I had now! I guess I got caught up in the hype of it all. I feel like I've spent so much money already and I don't even know what on because I've barely been drinking. Must be food but I haven't been going out for big meals either! They have a cat cafe in Melbourne, how can I resist that lol
  19. Arghhh upside down again. Need a PC
  20. I hope that's not what's been biting me!!! The beds are comfy and I've got used to the thumping music from the club downstairs. I can still hear those horrible girls from the other room though, running around screeching. I wonder if they've had anymore orgies in the room haha
  21. Yeah I already chatted to someone yesterday about looking for work outside of Melbourne. Just thought maybe that would be the best place to head to quickly before school holidays start (if they haven't already!). A friend is there the now she she said she's noticed lots of cafe jobs in Fitzroy I think. Melbourne has a cat cafe too haha. I like most cities. I just don't think Sydney is that great. It's overhyped by everyone imo. I'm going to go down to the harbour tomorrow night though for a walk
  22. how humid was it? I don't really like humidity but I did surprise myself in Singapore. I felt minging and sticky all the time but I didn't let it stop me doing stuff and sometimes even when I went inside I felt too cold and wanted to go back out  its a shame we can't find somewhere that would take us both haha. Then I'd have some company!
  23. So today I went to blue mountains like I said. Took around 2 hours on train I think. The trains are so weird here - with the different levels! I got an opal card yesterday but I didn't have enough money on it today. The weather was nice, sunny but not hot. I did try walking a bit of it but my ankle was starting to hurt and the steps are soooo steep. we bought the pass for $35. I went on the steepest railway in the world! It was quite cool but the other two parts of the package weren't very good. I'm glad I went though! Going to try my best to go to manly tomorrow after the bank
