  1. Not yet, I just haven't had a second to apply for any jobs this week because I've been on this package. I wanted to apply for ones while I was at base camp but they wouldn't let us have wifi till the second night and then when they did give me the password it wouldn't work! I'm supposed to be on a pub crawl tonight but I don't feel great so I think I'm just going to stay in and try sort my life out haha
  2. I'm looking for hospitality work - cafe, restaurant, bars or retail. I'm also considering doing au pair work especially if I can't find hourly paid work. There's pretty much au pair work in every location although mines is slightly more limited because I don't have a car but there's still some. Would rather have a "normal" job though
  3. To save money to travel more but I also want to meet people and actually like my time there
  4. The idea of that job was to work 12 weeks instead of going out like I would be doing in Sydney etc. it's like the same idea as fruit picking but without the proper hard work.
  5. It was a place down in Williams so a bit more remote but apparently the bus goes there and there's backpackers
  6. Right now I'm 70% sure I'm going to go to Melbourne. I'm also about to apply to a live in pub company in WA. And there's a small part of me that's still considering trying to get a flat here
  7. Someone told me if I stay in Sydney try paramatta for jobs etc?
  8. Wow..Thanks. Sometimes you do surprise me lol. I do feel like I'm giving up on Sydney but it's just really difficult here between finding a flat and a job and it's just going to eat up my money. By the sounds of it Melbourne might be more my thing. A girl was telling me different areas to try for hospitality work, I think one of them was st kilda
  9. I wish my cousin still lived in Melbourne. Can't believe he moves back to Scotland next week. So selfish lol I could have camped in his garden!
  10. I think I'm going to Melbourne either at the end of this week or start of next week. Me and parley are going to be best buds
  11. The blue parrot one is almost $170 for 4 nights. Yeah I don't think I've been very fair on Sydney when there's other nice areas. But I'm not sure I could afford to live there and save. I reckon I'm going to have to go live in a tent on a beach somewhere haha
  12. Well I experienced my first hostel shag.... And no it wasn't me doing it. 2 of them actually, might even have been 3 people haha. It was awful, there's only so much fingers in ears someone can do. Definitely moving room in the morning, one of the girls in my group went and got the security to chuck the guys out. Which did entertain me. 2 of these big Australians chucking 2 or 3 skinny English guys out and telling me them were weirdos  i feel like I've hit all my important hostel milestones now - I tried goon at the start of the week and now this happened
  13. its not exactly a backpacker friendly area price wise from what I've seen. One of the guides here stays there and she said she pays £170 I think, but that's 4 people in a room. Ill try my best to stay for your quiz though haha
  14. Haha I like the sound of this neighbours your, sounds funny! @maryrose I've looked at Prices of flats in coogee and near Surrey hills! I think I'll be camping on the beach. Then even if I stayed in a hostel then I'd still have to leave for new year because I refuse to pay ridiculous prices for a grotty hostel over the Xmas and new year week. I'm paying $42 which is already expensive for me
  15. Haha I like the sound of the neighbours tour! @maryrose I've been looking at prices of flats in coogee and near Surrey Hills!
  16. We got a boat from darling harbour so I got to see a little bit but haven't been a proper walk around yet.
  17. some parts are nice, I really liked coogee. I'd probably like bondi and manly. But I just don't like the actual centre. I don't know wether it's because I constantly get lost lol
  18. I'm hating this new hostel room. I think I might ask to get moved room tomorrow
  19. I'm going to go to Melbourne and visit the neighbours set. The taxi driver was laughing at me when I said that  I get a bit hesitant when local people here ask me if I like it but the ladies in the commonwealth bank told me to go to Melbourne because it's nicer lol
  20. I'm thinking of giving it another 5 days in Sydney and if I don't feel differently then either go to Melbourne or somewhere up the east coast. Maybe Brisbane? I've heard Brisbane has a lot of cafes etc. some of this group are like "oh I'm going to get a job in Byron" and I'm just really cynical lol. But I'm a negative person so that doesn't help. This east coast package is around $2300. That's with a Loka bus ticket too which is like a backpacker bus but instead of the greyhound it's just for backpackers and includes different activities. And then the other part of that price is the east coast package which includes things like the Whitsunday cruise, Fraser Island etc. I need to sit down and work out how much everything would be if I was to do it all myself
  21. They were selling them on a special and I thought it was a good idea at the time! These travel agents are good haha. They were suggesting the east coast again but I've so far resisted their sales charms lol. The package is pretty good actually but I'd have to work out how much it would be if I was to do it myself. The ticket is for the full year
  22. I did end up with sunburn but I didn't realise till the now, where my tshirt didn't cover my neck line. Must have been on the boat. Oh and ive signed up for a skydive..
  23. It was port Stephens I was in rather than blue mountains. Took us around 3 or 4 hours to get there, I slept nearly the whole journey! Got there and it was this slightly remote place and I thought oh god lol. Some people stayed in tents and some stayed in cabin type things, I picked the cabins. Most of the couples went for tents for obvious reasons. We got a talk from the owner about the different risks like snakes etc. I was a bit of a swot on the spiders  she was impressed that I knew about a funnel web. They told us we had to be up early for the sandboarding but most people had a drink anyway. I got got up at 5am and went to the beach to watch the sunrise (changed days!!!) which was lovely. We went in 4wd to the sand dunes. It wasn't as bumpy as I was expected, I wanted a bit more thrill lol. I didn't do the sandboarding because of my ankle which I regret a bit. But I can do it another time. Then we went to another beach to look for these little things called pippies?! Went out in the water just past my ankles but a massive wave came in and soaked me right up to my arse! Then we went a walk up mt tomaree. I found it difficult because I'm so unfit but the views were worth it! Then we went back to the cabins. Some of us went down to the beach as well. Today was good - went a dolphin cruise and got to see loads of Dolphins, I think some of them had babies. Nelson bay is nice. We went for some fish and chips, the fish was loads better than the ones back home but I didn't like the chips. I was hoping they had chicken salt that I could try haha. We headed back home after that. Got to Sydney and it was thunderstorms and torrential rain. Not impressed lol. Im still no further with my plans. @ramot thanks for that tip - I'll check out that bondi junction place. I I still haven't a clue wether I even want to stay in Sydney. It's so expensive and flats are apparently really hard to come by now and with the cost in rent I probably wouldn't even save anything anyway. So really id be paying loads just to live somewhere that I'm not that keen on anyway. But I'm scared to move on incase there's even less chance of me finding work
