  1. I'm alive!!! I just didn't have wifi. I'll reply properly in a min once I've read everything
  2. no not really but I'm trying to give it longer in Sydney incase it's just shock of arriving. I just don't really feel much. If I stay it'll have to be near somewhere beachy
  3. I look like a ugly troll in that pic but at least the background is nice lol
  4. Haha the cutest boy!! There's a cute guy in my group, he's from Canada. He said I didn't sound that Scottish lol I wasn't sure how to respond to that! Im off to port Stephens tomorrow for a few days. I'm looking forward to that, it'll be interesting to see how I feel being away from the city. I get to meet my first kangaroo too although she's a tame one called Josie. They said she was on the news! Apparently we'll see koalas and possums too. Then next week at some point im going to do a trip to the blue mountains because I've wanted to go for ages and I might suss out if there's any jobs in katoomba
  5. I think I'm going to move to a new hostel for my second week and then just stay in Sydney for the second week like planned but job hunt and go around different areas away from the CBD that i might like better. Then if I'm not liking it by end of my second week then I'll definitely move on if I think I'm as likely to find a job in Melbourne or somewhere like that
  6. Everybody here seems to be running off to places like Byron bay and cairns
  7. Yeah I liked coogee. If I was going to stay then I think it would have to be somewhere beachy and relaxed like that
  8. Haha thanks everyone. I'm still completely confused but never mind lol I'll figure it out. I Spent my day on darling harbour on a cruise. It was lovely, I was a bit uptight at first but I soon relaxed. I got some really nice pictures but I haven't had a chance to get on the PC. I'll try do that tomorrow morning. We had lovely weather, quite a lot of people got sunburn. So far I think I'm ok but we'll see once I've had my shower! I I have to admit when I first went past the bridge and opera house I didn't really feel anything. I was expecting to be really excited. Although the second time I went past I did start to appreciate how nice the scenery is. I don't think I'll ever like the CBD though, could be anywhere like Manchester etc. im going to ask if they'll refund my second week in wakeup
  9. Well I went to a jobs and travel talk in the hostel today which confused me even more haha. They basically said get out of Sydney because it's far too expensive and so much competition for jobs. They were also saying why do people want to come over and work straight away when you've just spent 6 months or a year working to save up. But I guess that's them trying to sell tours etc
  10. yep that's all I have. It's still more than some people though. I can't understand why some come with like £800. I'm really not keen on Sydney so far (from what I've been to so far which I suppose actually isn't much). I liked coogee because it was relaxed and I'm going to the harbour very soon and I'll probably like that
  11. you don't need a flat mate do you.. I think I'm moving hostels. I'm not that keen on this one and most of my group are leaving on money to go do some surf camp thing. So if they'll refund me I'm going to go to my original choice which is smaller and cheaper
  12. I'm still not sleeping very well. Had 4 hours sleep. We've got a jobs and travel talk at 9.30 and then we go out on the boat at 1. Why do they have to make the talk so early lol
  13. Thanks for that!! I'll check it out. I was also just looking at a website called strawberry placements, they have jobs like that where you work in a hotel or bar and get live in accommodation. Usually lasts 8 or 12 weeks
  14. Sorry but you're evicted now!! I did think about coming over to Perth but maybe I'd be better ending in Perth rather than coming back over East again. The flights aren't the cheapest
  15. I'm so confused about what to do haha. At least I've got lots of options I suppose!!
  16. Thanks everyone. I'm feeling a lot better. Went out tonight and had a few drinks and met my group since I didn't meet them this morning. They are really lovely. A mix of Germans, English, Americans, Canadians and i met 2 scots from Ayr! They came up to me and said are you Stacey from Scotland  then said we need to stick together since nobody else understands us haha. So meeting everyone has cheered me up and finding out my foot is fine has helped too. I've been putting that cream on it. I didn't take the painkillers yet though since I've been drinking but it's not been that sore and I think the cream has pain stuff in it too. I I promise to get some good pictures tomorrow and I'll use the PC to put them up! I took a picture of the clock at central station. All these bats were flying around it. I think they might have been fruit bats, they looked really big. I haven't decided wether to leave Sydney or stay. I guess I'll see how I feel tomorrow when I see what I consider the real Sydney to be. Maybe I'll fall in love with it. I'm definitely not going travelling up the east coast like the others though. Don't want to run out of money. If I leave it'll probably be somewhere else in NSW. Or maybe Victoria
  17. Yah I'm glad it's not broken. I kept feeling dizzy but she said that'll be not drinking enough water. I'm gutted I missed the Sydney group walk but I'll see most of it tomorrow when we walk to harbour for the boat
  18. Oh and I went to the doctors. I couldn't get Medicare sorted in time because they had sent me to the wrong place and I just gave up and paid for it but she said I'll get a refund. It's not broken, just badly swollen/bruised but I can put all my weight on it now. So I've got some inflammation gel and some painkillers. She said not to do the sand boarding though which I'm not too fussed about
  19. Hi everyone, i I felt really miserable this morning and wasn't going to go out much at all. I ended up meeting up with 2 blokes from a backpacking Facebook page for lunch. We went to surry hills (I think!). Again - the portions are too big for me! I think I'm going to have to start getting starters instead. For a fat person I really don't eat big portions. Then one of them showed me where to go for the Medicare. Well.. I was sent a million different places by everyone. One chemist told me it was king street.. It wasn't. One eventually gave me the right one so I went into the government office but they told me that i couldn't do it there. I had to go to darlinghurst. I applied for my tax file number while I was there though. Had a walk around the CBD. It's far too big and busy for me. God knows how I thought I could live in London. I just kept getting lost. When I think of Sydney I just think of the harbour etc. I don't really have any interest in the busy shopping streets. Ill get get onto a PC tomorrow and put some pictures up. I go my boat ride around Sydney harbour. I'm really looking forward to that
  20. That's partly why I thought about leaving - I don't want to be working to only pay my rent. But I haven't even been to see the harbour etc yet. Maybe I'll see it and just find it really hard to leave lol
  21. Thanks guys. Feeling a bit miserable today but I guess I'll just use this spare time to look at jobs and maybe hobble to a few places really nearby
  22. Oh wow that looks nice! I need to sit down and work out a proper budget but at the moment this hostel costs $42 a night so it's expensive compared to most
  23. Thanks, I was just asking about it because of a job but it seems expensive to live there. I didn't get to sleep till 5am and my ankles still sore so I don't think I'll be able to do the walking tour
