  1. Quick question on Citizenship if anyone can help - My partner & I are on a 187 - when applying for citizenship is there a way we should put the application through as defacto or an individual application needs to be completed for each of us?
  2. Sorry I haven't read through the whole post so I apologise if this has already been outlined clearly! My UK passport expires in 2018 so I will need to renew this, I will be getting married in 2019. I can get my citizenship in Aus next year but I will hold off until after the wedding to obtain the passport as didn't want to pay for name change. I saw people mention that is it free to change over in the first year, is this for the UK & Australian passport? And can this be done from Australia?
  3. I got my residency before Christmas so im now looking at returning to study my degree in social work (I have always wanted to do this but chose to travel earlier in life). 4 years is quite daunting however, but after doing some research these last few weeks I have found you can do an external degree and just wanted some advise if anyone has done it this way? It has been a very long time since I have studied so the prospect of 4 years is coming across as very scary right now! I know it will be worth it in the end as any position I want to get into requires this! Or on another note does anyone know any companies that allow you to work and sub the degree e.g. a traineeship or some sort. I dont think this is a thing in Australia but if it is It could defiantly be another option! I am looking at externally as I still need to work to support myself and pay for the course ( I won't be able to put the fee's onto HEX (I think its called) until I become a citizen and have the certificate after the ceremony). Although with the help of my partner I can probably drop down to part time but due to living regional I would be 2 hours away from the uni. Any advise or tips would be highly appreciated
  4. I plan on hiring a car in April thank you for the tips! Will it be ok to hire on an Aus QLD license whilst having a UK passport?
  5. Heads up guys, Mine was approved Monday through the NSW processing centre and I also had a friends approved yesterday! So they are still going...

  8. Employer nomination approved Today (15th Dec) - Lodged End of may/Early June Visa lodged 29th June Docs requested 20th November Fingers crossed for an early Christmas present before christmas shut down!!!
  9. I am trying to link my application to my immi account (applied through MA) But it says there is no application that matches. Has anyone else experienced this?
  10. Our employer has been requested for a 2nd time more documents. She is taking pretty much the full time allowed to provide these so it seems to dragging it out a bit. In the mean time our visa looks like it is with a case office as I was requested more documents last week. If the employer takes too long to get the documents over and for the nomination to be approved could they put our visa section back in the que? Or now its with a case officer will it stay with that CO until everything is complete?
  11. My partner is sponsored in Regional queensland and due to the lack of work there, I work 2 hours away And even when I did live down there I worked 40mins away. This really was our only option for me to be able to work!
  12. Has anyone started to loose faith in the MA during the process of their visa? Our employer did their nomination their selves in June and they are currently being asked for documentation to prove training requirements have been met. My partner and I used an MA for our side of the visa. Having a friend recently put in for her 187 and got questioned over a shop lifting charge back in the UK when she was a teenager, I sent this information to my MA before our visa was lodged to declare (I had the same). Our visa was lodged June 28th. In September our MA sent us a form 80 to complete as they said immi seem to be requesting them, when going through it I noticed they haden't declared my charge from the UK so I brought this up with them and they said it wasent important but they will declare it on the form 80. I have now received an email this morning. saying Immi require more info on my past and a new AFP police check even though my one is still in date. I am happy to provide this, but I feel the fact my MA did not declare in the first place is now holding up the application. Even little things like not changing our address and sending bills to our old address. I am starting to loose faith and its defiantly not what you need with everything else we are going through on the waiting game, we hired a laywer for peace of mind and now it feels like it would have been less stressful to just do ourselves!!! - On a positive I guess the face they are requesting information is a good sign?!
  13. I am in the middle of applying for residency with my partner. He is located in Tully and I live in Cairns due to work situations. I use to be the same, I know how you feel and it defiantly can be hard, I have slowly built up a couple of good friends. My main thing was although I work in a popular travel shop I was just sick of making friends that moved on every 6 months. I will hopefully be around for a while so.. If you want to grab a coffee in town 1 day feel free to give me a shout
