  3. Hi We gave work evidence of 10 years. There is no book, but you can read more about it at https://www.vu.edu.au/skilled-migration-assessment-services-smas/application-forms-applicant-guides/cooks-chefs-pastrycooks Also check the requirements on Australian Home Office website. Just FYI this is what our agent asked, In addition to their qualification, applicants must be able to demonstrate work experience of at least three (3) years full-time employment in a directly related occupation. This must include twelve (12) months of full time paid employment in the nominated occupation in the three years prior to lodging the application. Also find attached Vetassess fact sheet for cooks. Hope this helps. Regards Rene Fact Sheet - Cook Commercial Cookery.pdf
  4. @DukeNinja my husband initially started the application as a Chef (189 visa) and due to lack of evidence during the skills assessment, we changed it to Cook which then changed our visa option to 190 state sponsorship. 1. Firstly he got assessed by an agent to see if he would potentially qualify for a visa. 2. We both had to do an English test. 3. The agent assisted and applied for a skills assessment at Victoria university. This was a very lengthy and hard part. You need work references with the exact duties, position held, hours worked and rate of pay on a letter head. First aid certificate, food handling certificate, hospitality diploma etc. 4. Vic uni came back with a list of demands like videos or photos where hubby prepares dishes, cakes, bread, soup and the list goes on. Then he needed to provide evidence of stock control, fridge temp control, cleaning schedules, HR and budgeting. They asked him to prepare a buffet menu for 500 people with 3 different meats, 3 different salads, 3 different desserts. He had to do food costing. And the list goes on. We ended up doing videos this took us about a month to gather and do. 5. Since he couldn't provide document evidence of him managing people i.e. Like a performance appraisal and he never planned a budget he basically was always given a budget to work with and planned his menu accordingly, the assessor then suggested we change to Cook. We accepted and he was invited for a technical interview. He can't really remember much of that because of nerves, but he mentioned the guy asking him about sauces ect. The interview was done at an immigration agent (not ours) offices in London via Skype. He had to give all original documents submitted to this agent as well for scanning and emailing it to Vic uni, I guess for verification in person. 2 weeks later he got a successful assessment and was issued with a Certificate III in Commercial Cookery. 6. The agent submitted the English test results and skills assessment outcome for an EOI 190 Victoria state sponsorship. We waited exactly 12 weeks and got our nomination and ITA on the same day. 7. We submitted our visa application on 4 Dec, submitted medicals and PCC. Now we are hoping for a direct grant. Its a lot to take in, but hope this is valuable. You are welcome to Pm me if you have any questions. Regards Rene
  5. Hi Angiemol we applied for Vic ss as well as cook 65+5 and waited exactly 12 weeks. When we got the nomination we got ITA immediately. We applied for the visa on 4 Dec 2017 and started by submitting all PCC's and done medicals and form 80,all loaded and hoping for direct grant. BTW form 80 is for all applicants over 18 and PCC for all countries you have been in for longer than 12 months in the last 10 years...... I would suggest you start working on form 80 as it's a lengthy one...Good luck (I am not an immigration agent, just giving my personal opinion)
  6. Ah OK thanks Peachy I was the thinking that having a job and savings might seems to be a security blanket. Regards Rene
  7. Hi all, how did you manage to secure a rental though? Did you had to have a job lined up already or did you pay a couple of months of rent in advance? Thanks Rene
  8. Brilliant @rohitlibo How long did it take for them to upload the medicals? I just don't hope the festive season is going to slow down our application. Enjoy!!
  9. Hi Mel26 My husband (we) have done an EOI as a cook to Victoria. We had to wait exactly 12 weeks then got our nomination and ITA in the same day 28/11/17. We submitted our visa application on Monday 4/12/17, got confirmation that our pcc application has been received by acro on 4/12/17 and will be doing our medicals on 13/12/17. Steps in the process was: 1. Got all documents ready for skills assessment at Victoria university, ref letters, salary slips, diploma etc. 2. They requested additional documents and required work place photos, videos of preparing several dishes, completing check forms like stock, fridge temp, equipment maintenance and cleaning. 3. He then got invited for a technical interview which was done at an agency in London. They connected my husband via Skype to the assessor from Vic uni. He can't remember much about the questions as he was nervous and ill on that day too. 4. Think 2 weeks later he got a positive skills and a certificate iii in commercial cookery. 5. Done English test 6. Submitted EOI to Victoria for 190 state sponsorship and on the day of the 12th week we got nominated and ITA. 7. Lodged visa application 8. Applied for pcc 9. Booked medicals
  10. brilliant! thanks. I couldn't find anything on the DIBP website.....
  11. Hi all, I hope one of the agents can advise please. We have applied to Victoria for State Sponsorship and approaching week 10 of the 12 week waiting period. When everything works out positively and we get our visas, I want to know if, I (as the spouse on the 190 visa) am allowed to work on a 3 months contract in Queensland? This will obviously mean my whole family will be with me till the contract is over, where we will then move to Melbourne. My husband the main applicant will NOT be working during that time. Hope to hear from you soon. Regards
  12. Hi there, would you perhaps know what type of questions are asked during the technical interview for a chef? Hope to hear from you......
  13. Hello there, we haven't started anything with the immigration process and we are still gathering information etc. I couldn't find anything on any forum about technical interviews for a chef. Is there maybe a chef on this forum that would like to share the type of questions that were asked during that part? Hope to hear from someone......
