  1. Being a UK citizen doesn't give automatic rights to benefits. As last post says, you need to check up on habitual residency
  2. You don't meet the criteria to emigrate
  3. You use the wording I have two children. Is that you and your wife have two children? Doesn't have to be but just checking she or you have no other children?
  4. I thought as above. Whilst we don't know your OH's age, you do say you have young children as I'm assuming you're not an older couple. Your OH has no living siblings/parents?
  5. From what I understand you'll be waiting a very long time. Hard as it may be, better to enjoy life than have it on hold, good luck
  6. I don't think the education in Australia is better. Actually, the state schools are very hit and miss and private education is far more common there by a mile and there's a reason for that
  7. Flatpack, that's a rather poor statement. Financial institutions follow very strict guidelines in the UK. Whether you like them or not they follow the law and when they don't it's all over the news and they get huge fines.
  8. No, normal insurance wouldn't be ok. The terms and conditions of 'standard' holiday insurance state your trip must start and end in the UK. It will be invalid if used for the purpose of a one way trip.
  9. I can't imagine it's easy getting your mum a PR on your visa as otherwise everyone would try that. I'm struggling to think how she can be a dependant on your visa. If a 'child' of 19 can't get on their parents visa how can a parent?
  10. Brother and kids could only get there on their own merit.
  11. I was just about to say what the previous post says. If you go it could be permanent. You couldn't ever return to Oz with the kids unless he wants to and agrees. It may seem inconceivable he would but who knows? He's wanting to return knowing how unhappy you are about it.
  12. But how did they know his PIN number? Contactless is only a maximum of £30 a transaction
  13. But how did they know his PIN number? Contactless is only a maximum of £30 a transaction
  14. I wonder too. When using contactless you can only make a small number of transactions before you are asked to put your pin in. This is for the obvious reason that the card could fall into the wrong hands. As for credit cards, the UK do not issue contactless on these at present, just debit cards. Of course, if you have all the details of the card it is possible to spend big on the Internet.
  15. What then? Then she may well feel scared and frightened, just like many of her innocent victims. I may seem harsh but the facts are she was given a visa to live and stay in Oz. She never got citizenship therefore they have the right to revoke her visa. Why on earth would they want her to remain there? Their descent citizens are being hurt by her. Yes she has lived there all these years but she surely cannot use the it's my home and country bit, she has treated it appallingly. She's learnt a hard lesson, if you don't look after something you may well lose it. I'm thinking more of the many poor victims effected by her rather than her. She made choices that put her in prison or certainly could off. If she couldn't imagine living without her kids then she shouldn't have risked going to prison.
  16. I'd say send her back although I'm sure the UK don't want her! She has made a choice to be a bad person. Sorry she had a bad start but so have many. It is still all about choices. If she is saying she'll never do anything wrong again then she's saying she can control what she does so no excuses, actions do have consequences. Kids not with her anyway thankfully so no big difference there. She's blaming her past and blaming the drugs but she's done nothing to address them or stop. Now suddenly she's going to play nice, sounds like she's had plenty of chances. The law is the law, whether she should stay or not should have nothing to do with the fact she's had kids.
  17. What a sad situation you are in. Agree totally with the person who posted they love their grandchildren but they are not suragate parents. Too true. I would never have expected my parents to have my kids day in, day out. They helped a little and that's how it should be. They did some babysitting and had lots of fun with their grandchildren but the day to day grind wasn't for them, it was my responsibility. To the lady who wrote the post, what do you want to do? I hear you when you say your loyalty has to lie with your husband of 45 years but that goes both ways. His loyalty lies with you and he shouldn't be putting you in a situation that you feel forced to move back because he's had this very sad issue with daughter in law.
  18. No transit visa needed and great stop over airport. Mine where booked through sky scanner - all fantastic
  19. I did a return trip over Easter and flew with Etihad. Found them really good. I was a bit worried as I had checked reviews before I went and found many negative. Me and my 15 year old son had no problems at all. Food ok, entertainment very good and no delays. I've done the trip with many airlines over the years and would put BA, Qantas, Emirates and Singapore Airlines at the top. I've done the lower ones like Royal Brunei and the difference is clear. You get what you pay for. I would put Etihad very slightly behind the best but only a little bit. I would certainly have no hesitation using them again. For me they are a very good price and are much better than the lower standard ones of similar price. We had the same stopover too and airport very good. There should be no extra charges. All food and drinks are included. I always take some crackers/cereal bars in case we don't like what comes out or are asleep when it does. That said, you can ask them at anytime for a snack or a drink. I hope that helps
  20. Sorry for error above. Meant to say if for example (not economy)
  21. Nothing to do with her living at home. She will only be seen as a dependant if she is still in full time education. This would include university. If for economy she was 19 and unemployed she's still not a dependant as she can work, claim benefits etc.
  22. It's a very good point to make Verystormy. Many go to Australia on temporary visas, taking the family with them. Sadly, they usually have to return at some point and this means settled children having to return too. As you say, they are then not considered UK residents for a while so they have to pay high university fees etc
  23. I'd be worried if they didn't question people with a foreign passport and a one way ticket
  24. Not sure but if you have to have a current passport can't you just get one? Might be a waste of money but in the scheme of things it's a small outlay for a bit return
