I got a direct grant on Monday Invited 9th October, lodged on 13th and granted on second of November - can't believe how quickly it's come through!

Aldi is my current favourite...

Had a surf lesson on Manly Beach this morning which was amazing, I'd highly recommend doing one. A 2 hour lesson is $70, so roughly £35 which was great value IMO.

Lodged mine on 12th. Had the medical yesterday and applied for my police check today.... Fingers crossed!

I've already got the Skills assessment and dome my IELTS thank goodness... initially going over on a WHV but will then transfer onto the 189/190. If I apply in the next week or so I'm hoping it will come through before the 6 month restriction kicks in!!

Hi all, Got offered a job and was invited to apply for a 190 visa this morning with NSW (yay) but I don't know if I should go for the 190 or wait until the next round of invites for the 189. Is there much difference? During the interview yesterday, the employer mentioned that I'd potentially be working all over Australia. I'll be living in Sydney and my job will be based these but does anyone know if this could effect me if I go for the 190 as I believe you need to live in Sydney for the first two years? Thanks

22nd October - Money is what's worrying me too, I have enough to tie me over for a few months but will need to pick up work pretty quickly otherwise it will probably go pretty quickly!! Submitted my skills assessment for my 189/190 visa Friday so hopefully they'll be able to review it quickly and then I can lodge my EOI

Flew Etihad A380 to Abu Dhabi then a 777 from Abu Dhabi to Sydney last December, the difference was night and day. A380 far quieter / roomy than the 777. Singapore Airlines could be different though!

Please move if not in the right section of the forum! I'm moving over to Sydney in October and I've hastily entered myself and my friends into the half ironman in Western Sydney as a relay team. I'll be doing the bike leg but I won't own one on arrival as I'm planning to sell my current one. Can anyone let me know of any bike shops in Sydney / online? I've also had a browse of Gumtree but there doesn't appear to be many about. If anyone knows of any cycling / triathlon clubs I'd also be grateful. Thanks in advance!

Already had a change of heart though and I'll take what I currently wear and accumulate the rest as I go!

Quick comparison:- iPad 2 Air 16GB Wifi only is £399 on Apple UK website - the same iPad is $619 on the Aus website (£284 based on a rate of 2.18). 13" MacBook Pro 128GB 2.7Ghz is £999 on Apple UK website - the same MacBook is $1,799 on the Aus website (£825 based on a rate of 2.18).

I would say wake up / bounce if you want to be central. Honourable mention to Sydney Harbour YHA also which is in the rocks.

I'm going to try and bring the bare minimum, one suit, few shirts, shorts, jeans, t shirt etc then buy everything else when I arrive. I'm going to hold off buying an iPad / Laptop until i'm out there as electronics seem a lot cheaper in Aus than the UK.......

A decent one bed all in is at least £1500 pcm in London (Zone 3 - so about 20 mins into the city on the tube). Salaries will be alot lower than London but Cardiff is an amazing city (the best on earth in fact but i'm biased as i'm welsh!). You can get a decent one bed right in the city centre for around £800 pcm. I'll definately be moving there after i'm done in Sydney!

Luckily i'm with 3 in the UK so will be able to use my UK phone at no extra charge for the first 3 months in Australia
