  1. Actually you may be right - maybe it was $140 (so roughly £70..) I'd still highly reccomend it
  2. Last NYE we went to the harbour party in Luna Park, I think the tickets were $70 odd dollars. View of the bridge was amazing - you can also go on the rides and there was a huge dance tent which was open till around 2 - 3 AM. Queue's for drinks were non-existent pretty much and the drinks were quite reasonably priced. Hoping to go back there this year - but may pay abit more and get unlimited beer all night
  3. I'm staying with some friends who live in McMahons Point - totally lucked out!
  4. Yeah sure drop me a line - i hopefully will have found a job by then too!!

Went with them to Oz last December, A380 out from LHR - AUH was amazing at it was brand new. The subsequent trip from AUH - SYD on a 777 was OK, although not the most comfortable!

  8. Hi All, Sorry for the long post but here goes.............. After being in Australia for just under four weeks in December / January last year I became obsessed with moving down under. After a few weeks browsing this forum and debating on whether to make the move down under or not today I finally bit the bullet and have decided to take the plunge! To give you some background about myself, I'm 24 and currently living in London. I graduated from UWE, Bristol in 2013 with a degree in Quantity Surveying and Commercial Management and I was lucky enough to secure a job as a Quantity Surveyor / Contracts Administrator and have recently become chartered with the RICS. I've 2 years post qualification experience. Today I booked my flights with Qantas and am due to touch down on 22nd October. My current plan is to arrive on a Working Holiday Visa and seek work within a Quantity Surveying / Contracts Administrator role. I'm aware that I can only work for one employer for a maximum of 6 months and I would ideally like to obtain sponsorship before my Working Holiday Visa expires. I appreciate though that this isn't easy to achieve so as a backup plan i've already started the ball rolling for applying for a permenant resident visa (luckily my occupation is on the SOL / CSOL). I'm looking to get an idea of the full cost of a PR visa. From some Googling I think it will be around £3k (£2k Visa, £145 IELTS, £315 Skills Assessment, £45 Police Check and £300 Medical). Does this seem about right and have I missed anything? When i touch down in Sydney I'll be able to stay with some friends for a few weeks but i'm hoping to get into my own place / shared accomodation ASAP. I should be able to bring around $14,000 with me to tie me over until I'm able to get a job. Sorry for the long post! Any help / suggestions / advice you can offer i'd be most grateful. Thanks! Josh
