  1. Hello all :-) I just wanted to update everyone with my partner's visa. We are in Bali at the moment as had to leave Australia for a few days for it to be granted. We are pleased as he got the 100 (permanent visa) Therefore, his official grant date is the 26/10/2015 (just under 9 months since we applied on the 29/01/2015). This forum has been a great help so thank you to everyone who has provided us with information over the past 9 months! Good luck to everyone who is still waiting for their visa's to be granted, the wait is well worth it!
  2. Hello. We applied for the free evisitor visa which you do via your online immi account. It took a couple of days to come through. My partner had the confirmation email they gave him printed out ready to show immigration when we got to Australia but they never asked for it. Everything is electronic these days so they would have had a record on his passport.
  3. Thanks! We were shocked too as we weren't expecting an email until at least November so we're really happy it came through so quickly! Fingers crossed your grant comes through soon as you applied before us, I'm sure it's not too long now
  4. Hello, My partner and I came out to Australia only a week or so ago. I'm Australian but because his visa hadn't been granted yet he had to apply for a visitor visa. We had the same email response when we notified our CO of our plans. I was all worried about the kind of questions my partner might have been asked when we arrived and went through immigration here in Australia as he didn't have a return ticket. But it all went really smoothly and he wasn't asked a single question about his visa or tourist plans. He was allowed straight through. You never know what they are going to ask though. I used to have a visa to enter the UK and they asked me question every time I returned from holiday in Australia. Also my partner only had about a month left of waiting time before his visa was due to be granted so we knew he wouldn't be without work for too long.
  5. Thought I'd share our great news with you all! My partner received an email from his CO this evening (it's evening here in Australia) saying his grant is ready to be given. Yay! Because he's in Australia on a tourist visa at the moment he had to advise his CO of when he will be leaving the country so the visa can be granted. After some online searching we've booked our flights to Bali on Monday, meaning when my partner returns to Australia next Thursday he will be here on a partner visa! Am so happy as it will be granted well under the 10th month mark. We applied on the 28th January. It's a relief for him as he will be able to start applying for work once we get back from our short break away. Hope everyone else receives some good news soon too!
  6. Thats great ? you applied about a month before us so your CO may grant yours before you leave. I would be very surprised if ours was granted as we haven't reached the 9 month mark yet. Fingers crossed for you!
  7. No unfortunately the only time I have had a personal email from our CO was when he introduced himself to us initially and when he requested more information regarding my partners police check and that was a couple of months after we applied. All the responses I have had since have been from the general enquiries and has always been someone different :-) Luckily you don't have to come all the way back to the UK once it is granted which is a good thing!
  8. Hello My partner and I are leaving for Australia this Wednesday. We applied for his partner visa on the 28th January 2015. I went onto his immi account and applied for his tourist visa last week. It only took a couple of days to be approved. I also emailed our case office through the general email to remind him that we were leaving and to see if there was any chance of getting his partner visa granted before we left. I didn't think it would be granted as we are leaving just before the 9 month mark. I got a email response from the general visa team saying they have passed my email on to my CO for me. This is what was written in the email to us: With regards to your travel plans, as previoulsy advised, If your intention is to migrate to Australia you should be entering the country on a visa that properly reflects your intention in Australia, e.g. a permanent visa if you wish to stay permanently. The processing time for partner visas is currently 10-14 months, unless there are particularly compelling and compassionate reasons (such as death in the family/family illness), you should expect your visa to take this full period of time for a decision. If once you have lodged your partner visa application you need to visit Australia temporarily you are able to do this, however, you should be aware that you are required to be outside of Australia for us to grant your partner visa. Furthermore there is not a visa which has been created for the purpose of allowing clients to stay in Australia while awaiting a decision of their partner application lodged outside Australia. If you propose to visit Australia on a visitor visa you should be aware that you need to satisfy Australian border and Immigration staff that you are a genuine visitor. You will need to be able to demonstrate you have sufficient funds to cover the costs of your stay without the need to work, that you intend to visit Australia temporarily and that you have an intention to depart the country before the expiry of your visitor visa. You do not need to seek the approval of your partner visa application’s case-officer for you to visit Australia, however, you should update them with any change in your contact details to ensure they can continue to communicate with you to make any outstanding requests for your application. We have updated our address and are all set to go Hopefully his visa is granted towards the end of October. We are planning to pop over to New Zealand for a short break once it is granted before heading back to Australia. Both times I have emailed them to let them know we will be flying to Australia in October I got the same sort of response. I've noticed loads of people on this forum have flown to Australia on tourist visas before their partner visas are granted so you shouldn't have any problems if you do the same your partner just won't be able to work until it's granted haha which mine seems happy about.
  9. We shipped our stuff off this week with Anglo Pacific. Great company, good communication and cheap prices. We had 10 boxes (37 cubic feet) and only cost £310.20 :-)
  10. I've posted on here loads tonight - my apologies I was going through all this information I found online regarding the partner visa and I found this stuff relating to an interview. Do they still do this? Has anyone who just got their visa granted had to do an interview to prove their relationship? Thanks in advance!
  11. We only filled this out because our case officer emailed us asking for more information when he received my partner's police check. So we completed the Form 80 as a character assessment :-)
  12. I'm the Aussie and the sponsor in our application. When I uploaded all of our forms I wrote a statement, which was a page or two long, about how il be able to support my partner as his sponsor when we arrive in Australia. I just outlined our plans for how much we planned to have saved when we move over, where we will live, what we will do for work etc. I copied another persons statement in another forum I come across, she had uploaded an outline for people to use, as the way she had laid it out was really helpful I also uploaded statements from our joint account but because we had that for less then a year I also uploaded bank statements from each of our individual accounts and highlighted any transfers between us to show that we were supporting each other financially and just put a little note saying what it was for. I think I also uploaded one of my pay slips to show how much I earn. But I don't think all of this is a requirement haha I just really wanted to make sure we had covered everything so they didn't ask us for more information!
  13. We also submitted my partner's application with the medicals and police checks already done haha definitely too proactive. But we submitted our applications around the same time so hopefully it will all be okay :-)
  14. Unfortunately they don't give out their direct emails anymore. I managed to get the direct email for my CO a few months back but when I sent the email off I got a reply from the london.cc email. They said it had been forwarded on to my CO and they answered the question that I had asked him. Hope this helps.
