  1. Hi Marisa, I see what you mean now. Thank you for clarifying. I shall do more digging and find out. Thank you for your advice. You've been a great help!
  2. Hi, thank you for replying. My qualifications (bar one) are all after/during work periods. I continued my studies alongside my work. Same would go for topping up. As I dont have a full BSc i wanted to gain that before applying. Looking at the Visa it doesn't state that qualifications need to be before... sorry I found that confusing. Thank you for your help.
  3. Hello All, Apologies if this has been answered somewhere. I have tried looking and struggled to find the right answer. So I am currently researching into the 189 Visa requirements and have come stuck on the overall education and Australian study requirement section. I aim to top up my FdSc to a full BSc this year in the UK. However, I am confused as to whether my BSc has to be closely related to my occupation (which I have been in for over 8 years and intend to use as my skilled Visa application). Yes it's on the skilled list. - Horse trainer. I'm considering topping up onto either an Animal Science, Wildlife Conservation or Equine science degree. Would this affect my application depending on the degree type considering my occupation is Equine based? Is it best I follow the equine top up route? Secondly, I have not studied in Australia nor had intended to until I had moved out there. As part of the Visa application it asks whether you've done so, is this vital to your application? Must you do it or have people been accepted without having done this? Sorry if any of this is confusing but also thank you very much for any advice you have. Hana
  4. Sounds organised to me! That's okay you have plenty of time! Just don't forget to enjoy it! That's what I keep saying to myself anyway haha
  5. I see! Well I've got supporting documents that they listed to prove I'll be coming back so all is good! go Walkabout look pretty good! Out backers seems good too! You should be okay but yes best to check. You're very organised! Glad you've finally taken the plunge! Scary as hell but exciting at the same time isn't it?!
  6. Yeah I've read through the T&Cs three or four times & all seems good apart from that section. I've not been asked to provide anything yet but I'm definitely coming back after my first year so for me it's perfect! Shame that they don't make it more obvious to backpackers who think they are getting a good deal!! Have you sorted yours yet?
  7. Stacey I used alpha with no problems!
  8. Sounds good!! it definitely will be busy but don't forget to stop and see some of it!! Lol!
  9. Hi everyone! Been thinking about bout potential costs for hiring a wagon/van to do Melbourne to Adeleide via the great ocean road. I'd obviously like to share the costs with someone! Does anybody have have any tips and/or stories on the best deals for hiring in Aus? Any pitfalls you savvy travellers have found out that I should be aware of? Any places to avoid? I've had a look at various places such as travellers-auto barn etc. but seem to have less choice in Melbourne and Adeleide for pick ups/drop offs or maybe I cannot seem to find the right ones! Obviously money is an issue so any tips on saving would be fabulous! Thanks in advance! Hana :cute:
  10. Alix I'm also coming on my own in October! Land in Sydney on the 14th so let me know if you fancy meeting for moral support 
  11. Definitely! I'll be heading back to Sydney for Xmas & NY so I'll be around around the weather?! Just chance it I've got a very vague outline of what I'd like to do but I'm not fussed if I don't stick to it! Lol.
  12. Stacey - I'll be in Melbourne at that time for the racing but very shortly after I'm planning on hiring a wagon/camper van to travel the Great Ocean Road to Adeleide - if you're free and would like to do the same shout! We could swap number etc im so glad you've finally starting getting things together! So excited for you ?
  13. Looks good to me! You can only try it!
  14. I've sent an email so hopefully I'll get a response soon! Ive heard the same. I'm hoping to at least get started - I've been told that apparently it will count towards it but after the changes come in you'll need to comply with the new rules. Fingers crossed something becomes more apparent!
  15. I'm taking a suitcase and a daypack I spoke to my friend who is currently in Melbourne & he said that he wish he took a suitcase! Think it's down to personal preference
  16. They're changing the requirements regarding regional/specified work which qualifies for you second year application. It's being phased in so no concrete date. Basically they intend to change the rule of WWOOFING/volunteering roles - it will no longer count. Like I said they they don't know when this will be!
  17. Hi Guys, I've recently been following the progress of the 2nd yr WHV changes regarding specified/regional work & just have a few questions - hopefully you'll be able to help my confusion! I'm flying out in October and intend to do some regional work ask travel round, however, a lot of the contacts I have are not offering paid work - only a WWOOFING type role. If I were to complete some of my work unpaid before the rules came in, would I be able to use that in lodging my application for my second year or would I have to start again completely and find purely paid regional work? Slightly concerning as most places seem to only offer WWOOFING style roles. Thanks in advanced!! Hana
  18. Hey guys! I'm heading out to Sydney on 12th Oct! Really looking forward to it but the visa changes are slightly concerning!
  19. To ensure you qualify for your second year WHV you'll need to complete 3 months or 88 days specified work aka farm work/fruit picking etc. Take a look at the gov website - http://www.immi.gov.au/Visas/Pages/417.aspx Make sure you look over the specified work & regional sections Hope this helps
  20. Hi John, I was contacted yesterday by one of your colleagues who stated that it had been changed however I can't login to check as my user ID is no longer recognised? If I PM you please could you look into this for me? Thanks, Hannah
  21. I'm currently researching the best option - whether to DIY or use the STA 7 night pack. It's well priced & they help sort out the legal side of things. I'm currently comparing the above & have another appointment booked on 24th so I'll update you before then once I've decided! I cannot stress enough about researching before agreeing to anything though! A lot of them will obviously add their profit margin on & a few times I've realised its really high!! You'll probably find its cheaper DIY How's your planning going?
  22. Thanks for both your feedback! I think my account has not been set correctly so I've dropped them a line to see if it's easily rectified! Nice to hear that people are using it regularly! Jac2011 - why does that not surprise me?! I think that's an international thing!
  23. Hi Pom Queen, I signed up to money corp & was wondering if the 'no charges' still stands for PIO members? I recently had a look and they state they charge £10 per transfer? If you have any update that would be great! Your info is always helpful - thanks again.
  24. You'll be fine with specified & usual work then!
  25. Oh is it,??! I think it changes quite alot. I'm going to book them by the end of the month hopefully! If you decide to go this year let me know! I know too many new places! Do do you know what kind if work/specified work you'll do?
