  1. Lol! Well now you have the opportunity it's perfect its a really hard decision! Didn't think I'd be too fussed but thinking about it I've been umming & aaahhing for ages haha
  2. I have two friends which have either been, come back & planning on going back or already back out there the rest are having babies, settling down etc. Without sounding negative I couldn't think of anything worse right now! I want to see the world first. Thats quite a lot! Good luck I hope you can sort it - you'll be fine with that amount of money though so don't worry too much. Tbh I have NO idea yet. I'm leaning towards Sydney tbh but I haven't set that in stone - have you decided yet?
  3. Woah that's alot! Hope you are taking plenty of time resting in between?! im very similar but I keep trying to tell myself that if I don't go I'll never go! It can only be good for me - same for everyone I suppose! Yes definitely, you know that way you're going no matter what! I'm planning to go in October this year on my tod too!
  4. No I know but don't you find you will always find a negative in something? We won't know until we get there My grandad did the same! Bless them! At the end of the day it's something you are doing for yourself so it's entirely up to you.
  5. They will take people with no experience so don't worry about that! Most of the people you will meet will have 0 experience and are there for both the experience & 2 to qualify for their second year! All in the same boat i would definitely research that trail of thinking abut more just in case! However if you can do that without the farm work then great!!
  6. Azh- thanks! I hope so! I'll definitely be doing some work but would like to travel as much as possible for obvious reasons! stacey - that's my exact fear also! I was starting to think I was the only one who worried about that! People look at me like I'm mad when I say it haha! I hope so. Your amount will also be enough! You'll work as well so you'll still earn to fund your travels
  7. That should be fine! I'm also very worried about the financial side of it - hence the cash for my car! - but I keep telling myself you'll be able to get work so don't panic! I have friends that have been recently with hardly any money no planning whatsoever - just got on a plane, and they've been absolutely fine! Maybe we are worrying for nothing?!
  8. How do you plan on getting your 2nd year then? As far as I am aware - I may be wrong! - you are required to specified work to be granted the second year. Ive been an Office Manager/HR Administrator for the last 3 years so will be looking for this type of work but I also have a background with horses so I'll look for stud farm work which will qualify me for my second year.
  9. Hi Stacey! Im saving around £5k but 1.5k of that will be to cover my car for 6 months whilst I am away. My visa & flights will be done separately:) how much are you taking?
  10. will you not be doing specified work due to your uni course? Specified work is the sure-fire way to guarantee 2nd year if you ensure you have all the paperwork
  11. Hey claire! I'm planning to go in October this year for travelling & working! I would definitely recommend doing it all in one trip! That way you an see everything when are you thinking of going? I know I'm really looking forward to it!
  12. Thanks Stacey! I'll dish the dirt after my appointment
  13. Hi Nicole, I've been thinking the exact same thing. It's alot harder to make a decision than it sounds isn't it?! Have you started planning much of your journey? I'm looking to travel October 2015 so I may see you out there in Jan!
  14. Hi Claire, i'm looking for Admin work as well & from what I've heard is what the other guys have said - wait until you get out there & remember some smart clothes! Just got to be quick & stand out I've found a good site called flat mates.au which offers rooms etc in house shares when are you looking to go? good luck!
  15. Hi Stacey, I've done a it of digging and it seems like a programme where they set you up with potential employers. I'm going to see the agents at the weekend to grill them to find out what's what! Thanks for your feedback - I'll be interested to know if that is what they intend to do! If if anyone has feedback that'd be great!
  16. I've had a look at the intro Oz and ultimate australia ones. They seem quite good packages. the package I am currently looking is a BUNAC placement programme where you have a 1on 1 consultation and skills review and they work with you to secure work. It's the main point of the programme. have you heard of this one or know anyone who has done this? thanks
  17. Hello all, I've been doing a lot of research into the WHV and STA travel keep popping up. Im very happy to sort everything out on my own however I am worried about not being able to secure work as I have financial obligations back home. STA offer various packages helping people to secure work for at least 3 months which I am inclined to take if they are worth it. I'd like to know if anybody has used these packages from STA before and what did you think of them? Are they worth the investment? Any feedback is appreciated and thank you for reading! :cute:
  18. My skill set is very similar if not identical to the HR Advisor which is on the skills list its just my role isn't called that haha. Slightly unsure if I would qualify. I've booked an appointment with an agent to see if they can give me some advice
  19. Hi Marisawright, thank you for your advice! Sorry if I confised you! Tbh I haven't yet decided if I want to stay indefinitely! If like to see how it goes and take things as they come. If I manage to secure sponsorship/nomination & I want to stay then I'll be happy. Just umming and ahhing because of the financial side. I have a meeting booked with a migration agent to see if my role is definitely in the SOL & CSOL list as my job title is slightly different to that named on those lists yet the actual role itself is the same. If it isn't then I'll be looking at the WHV. Is meeting with an agent worth the time do you think?
  20. engaus - I need to double check this again. I remember seeing my role being listed but it's better to check than just go for it. Otherwise my options are limited! Thanks Marisawright - I've done a lot of research into the WHV and you can apply for a second year once you've completed specified work. I have a background with competition & stud horses so I would most likely try and do something similar whilst looking for temp work. Interesting to see people's views Thanks for your advice guys! Anymore would be greatly appreciated. Hana
  21. Hi Guys, I'm currently saving to take the plunge & travel down under on my own in October 2015. I've been looking at my options and have been considering both a WHV and Sponsored Employment. My current company have offices out in Perth & said that there may possibly be the opportunity to transfer out there closer to the time. In case this doesn't work out I've been looking at the WHV option! I have a question relating to the SE visa and was wondering if I could get people's opinions as well as what you guys think is the best option? If you are over in Oz on a SE visa and say after a year of working with them you decide you'd like to take employment elsewhere do you need to go through the sponsorship process again with the new company, can you do this in Oz or do you have to come back to the UK to do so? I think I know the answer but tbh I would rather check! I've been looking at this option because I'm slightly worried about being financially unstable as I do have commitments i.e. Car payments. Does anyone have any tips or similar concerns? Or do I need to just get a grip? :embarrassed: Haha! what do you guys recommend & which visa do you think would be best? sorry for the long spiel! Thank you all for your help! Hana
