  1. Hi Lorraine Yes I know my travel dates, and I would suggest you book your flights well in advance, the first seats booked are cheaper and as other seats fill up the price goes up. I have used Flight Centre and they gave great advise and helped choose the best offer. (For me, not them) I would recommend giving them a call, even if just for information for the future. They spent a lot of time to find me the deals I then chose from, I couldn't recommend them more. I got a quote for a flight in October, as I then went to book within 2weeks the price had already gone up £200!! I then looked at flights for November and booked straight away. The price goes up as the flight fills up, beware. This also allowed me to book the travel insurance which I did need definite dates to give cover. I would suggest you wait until you know your dates for travel as the e600 was a breeze, it is only a tourist visa so not very in depth, and as I said came through within a week. (Although I have heard it can take up to 30 days) I have to say, I am very pleased to have a travel date in hand, and there is so much to do at least I can schedule my packing, shipping etc. There is a lot to sort ou! Beware of shipping.........a tourist visa does not allow shipping of goods, you will have to wait for your main visa to be issued. I am not taking much, and my daughter is shipping out items on her visa, so I have been able to put some things in there. Hope this helps. Bev
  2. Hi Lorraine No hoops, all very easy. i booked travel insurance with ANZ and quoted that as health cover. All very simple. i obviously can't do any work with this visa, I will have to wait for CPV to come through. So I will be having a nice few months break which will give me the opportunity to see a bit more of Australia and settle in. Bev
  3. Hi Lorraine i have applied for and received an e600 visa. It was granted very quickly about 7 days, and I have 12 months after the grant date to arrive in Australia and then allowed 12 months to stay after date of entry. So my grant date is in Feb 16 . I have to arrive before Feb 17 and when I arrive I can stay 12 months from that date. i am going over in November and hopefully my CVP visa will be granted around June 17, but I have a few months leeway should I need. Hope this helps. Bev
  4. Quick question, as you have been in Australia while waiting for the visa grant, (which is what I am intending to do) did you send a change of circumstance form with your Australian address? thanks Bev
  5. Pleaze don't forget us!! Please let us know any tips, things to worry about, things not to worry about!! I think we all realise you will be busy now, but I know it would be a great help if you could share your good, and bad experiences, the whole going through the process, and anything else you think relevant. All the best on for your future............we are all.....................very jealous!!..................... But it's also lovely to hear about things from 'the other side' lol.
  6. Could I ask.....did Immi request these or have you just done them so they are ready? Bev
  7. As I am planning also being in Australia when hopefully CPV is granted, how do you know when to leave the country, have they told you the date? How does it work? Bev
  8. Thanks for that info, I have now been quoted but them and got a good deal.
  9. It's all getting very exciting in this waiting room !! Good luck to all.
  10. Hi there i am hoping you, (or anyone else who has knowledge) can help me. I thought I had everything sorted, but it seems not! I am going over to Australia this November on an e600, then hopefully my CPV will be granted approx June 2017 (I realise I have to leave the country while this occurs) My question is............has anyone found a way of shipping personal items out during this crossover time? I am not looking to send a lot, no furniture to speak of, but quite a few musical instruments, kitchen and leisure items and quite a few little things of my life. I am sure all this will fit in a small move cube, but they have said I need a visa to ship this, or pay tax on the items original value (no depreciation) i thought I could bypass this by sending goods on my daughters PR visa (quite a lot of the items are my daughters wedding presents that she has never bothered to request, thinking I could bring them with me), but have been told this needs to be done within 2 years of her visa grant, which was granted 3 years ago. Can I send items on an e600? Or will I have to store items until my CPV is granted? Any information gratefully accepted.
  11. No, cannot ship unless you have a visa reference. i have decided to travel light, have sold my house, now selling as much as I can! Quite a lot of 'stuff' is my daughters that I was holding for her, so I am shipping these out to her on her visa. I will keep mine stored at relatives then arrange one of the move cubes when my visa comes through. Not too much though I have to say, I have agonised over this for ages.........but came to the decision, new life, new gear!! how much is it really worth?! And where are you going to put it until you have settled somewhere?
  12. Hi Gogirl i have applied for the e600 and have just quoted a travel insurance health cover, I'll let you know how that goes. I believe I should hear within 20 days. You can do the police checks from Australia if you are living with someone you know, you just need a signed letter from who you are living with and 2 utility bills in their name at that address, it costs to send to Australia, but heyho! everything does, at least you know it will be in date.
  13. November was cheaper, flight centre I have booked with, extremely helpful, she spent lots of time going through various options, probably about 7 hours in total, they will phone you too, extremely satisfied with their service. I have booked for 1st Nov, I hope their is no problem with the e600!!! ?
  14. Hi Lisa i was advised to go for a return ticket, and I have to say, the cost difference is very minimal! The earlier you book the cheaper the flight. Bev
  15. Hi Lisa Lou, I am thinking of doing the same, moving over in November! And am currently trying to contact the police, to ensure I can request these checks without being in the country, not sure if you have to present yourself at a station? Anyone help with this info?
  16. Does anyone know the cost of shipping items out......approximately. Do they have special boxes that need to be used, or could I start boxing now? For those that are in Australia waiting for the visa being granted, did you book a return flight or one way? A travel agent I spoke to thought that a one way ticket could cause a problem on a tourist visa. I am just looking into things in case I decide to go out later this year, flights are supposed to be cheaper if you book well in advance. Any thoughts, information gratefully received.
  17. I'm following all information too! I'm just in front of you and am intending moving out about 6-7 months before I envisage the visa to be granted. (All chickens in basket for me, if it doesn't get granted, I'll be in the proverbial ****)! getting very excited for quite a few in the waiting room who are very close.........jealous too!! Good luck to us all, hopefully the queue will shorten rather than lengthen.
  18. I also had 6 step brothers and sisters, that I hardly know, but one of them was helpful and game me the information of the others. hopefully you can find one like that.
  19. My understanding is step brothers and sisters are never blood related, otherwise would they not be your half brothers, sisters? Regards Bev
  20. Hi I think you are thinking on the same lines as me, I am wanting to go over approx 6 months before my 143 is granted. i was assuming you had to attend medicals at a pre-organised location, could someone please confirm the actual procedure for this. Also what does the E600 cost? Regards Bev
  21. Hi Ruby I'll still be in here with you waiting, for quite a while it seems. It's always moving forward though, and it's great to get the experience and feedback from the elder members. (I don't mean in age, just in waiting room time)!!
