  1. Allergic to the sun!! :chatterbox: Does that just effect him here in Oz or back in the Uk too?
  2. Just a heads up but Philip Island is the other side of Melbourne to the Great Ocean Road. Anyway, I'd suggest stopping in Lorne to visit Erskine Falls and in Apollo Bay to have a BBQ.
  3. Not easy to think about the benefits when it feels like your skin is on fire.
  4. my other half has a fit when my alarm goes off at 05:00 at the weekend, need to get my run in somehow though
  5. It's grammatically correct when related to the club or entity but not the team.
  6. There are a lot of runners in Altona too, it's a great spot for it. Unfortunately I have to be careful about the time that I go out and putting on sunscreen, takes a bit of the fun out of it to be honest.
  7. This is exactly why I want to go back to the UK, just too much effort to enjoy my distance running and hockey here.
  8. Marisa, you have summed my problems up perfectly! Could you come to Altona and explain it to my OH as she thinks I'm being ridiculous
  9. About $70k and we lived with family for our first six months here, still sat in the GFs account whilst my bank is empty
  10. I'm not sure if we're moving back yet but I miss not having to slap on a ton of sunscreen before I go for a long run, ride or play hockey. As daft as it sounds the extra effort required has taken some of the fun out of my three favourite sports.
  11. Not sure living in a city 15000km from your friends and family is a simple as love or hate. I love where we live in Melbourne, and the other parts of the country that I've seen have been great too (yes, even Canberra!), but I just don't feel like I can stay here long term.
  12. Very fair description. I still want to see more of Australia and NZ before moving back but damn I'd give anything for cuppa at my nans or a pint in my old local right now.
  13. Thanks all, she seems quite happy and only has one minor frustration. I find it strange how different my feelings are for each country are now compared to how we felt before we moved. I've only now realised just how good we had it back home.
  14. Depends on my partner. We both wanted the move so much that I'm actually scared to tell her.
  15. I love it here but I just can't do it anymore
  16. Nah her employers are very strict when it comes to leave in December and January. Found flights which leave Xmas Eve evening and land at Birmingham Xmas arvo, so we could be home in time for dinner , and then depart (hangovers and all) on the 1st arriving back in Melbourne on the 3rd.
  17. It annoys me that the yanks get blamed for soccer. It's a shortened version of Association Football which originated in the UK.
  18. Using the third person singular instead of the plural to describe sports teams.. Liverpool has beat Tottenham instead of have for example. Pronouncing debut as dayboo. Both drive me crazy when watching sport on telly.
  19. Can't decide what to do for Xmas... Was tempted to go back to Leicester but we've only got leave between the 24th of December and 3rd of January which doesn't give us much time at home. *My partners work won't allow any additional holiday outside of those dates* Anyone else going back for such a short period?
  20. I'm tempted to move back to Suffolk as that's where I grew up but we'll probably move back to Syston as that's where we lived before moving to Melbourne.
  21. We'll be moving back to Syston in Leics, nice little town so plenty to look forward to.
  22. I'AM SOOOO JEALOUS! 18 Months until I'm back in Blighty.
  23. Hi All, I'm a SCADA Systems Engineer with six years experience, although I've spent the last seven months working as a BA. I'd love a SCADA Related role, especially in the water industry. I live in Altona and I'm happy to commute within the Melbourne area. Any suggestions on where to look?
  24. Hell yes, the dentists here are far superior to the NHS (maybe not to private) treatments. Had resin repairs to my front teeth after getting hit in the face playing hockey and they need replacing every now and then, the quality of replacement here (Canberra and Melbourne) is outstanding. Also, it's nice that the Aussie dentist actually tried matching the colour and shape of my front teeth instead of just filling the gap!
  25. Sorry, I know it's not everyone. Just had a few narky responses in the last few days which left me feeling worse than I already was!
