  1. Hey everyone, Just to update that our visa was granted this morning!! Wooooohoooooo
  2. Thought I'd reply to my own thread. 190 Visa granted this morning
  3. Hey guys, Looking for advice from anyone who's been through this before. My husband has applied for a 190 visa. We're at the stage where the police/medical checks were requested in Sept '14. Police clearance came through no problem and we sat our medicals in Edinburgh on 2nd Oct. We haven't heard anything since. I've been in contact with our agent but they've no further news. They emailed DIBP last Wed but doesn't look like they've responded as I've not heard bk from the agent. How long is this very last bit supposed to take? We've done everything necessary, everything is all paid. Just desperate to know either way
  4. Hi I think we waited approx 4 weeks and my husband is a joiner!! We got the result of his skype interview approx one week after taking it. Best of luck
  5. Hi, not sure what sort of points for work your experience, i know my husband got as many as he could have due to being in the occupation over so many years (dont remember how long). As for state sponsorship, if its a 190 visa its a moral obligation and the state asks that if you leave their state you inform them. If its a 489 then im sure part of the terms are that you stay in nominated state for so long.
  6. P.s. when we lodged our application WA didnt have carpenters on their list so we applies to SA and got it. State sponsorship isnt a legal requirement so once we get our visa we fully intend on heading straight to Perth ourselves as his cousins also emigrated there. So thats an option if youre in the same boat.
  7. Hi, my husband is a carpenter and he gained the level 3 carpentry certificate via his vetassess skype test. Our agent has always asked for dates from when his apprenticeship began and he gained enough points to not have to sit the english test. He is 31 and started his apprenticeship at 17, done 4 years and worked in that occupation ever since so surely you'd get the same points. Oh actually as im typing we have applied for a 190 visa and going for state sponsorship gains you extra points im sure.
  8. Hi again, has anyone from this thread had a reply back re their visa grant yet? Im so excited as this is the last hurdle but I just wanna know either way so i can start getting focused on what kind of future my family is in for!!! Cheers guys :-)
  9. Jeez I wish I never asked lol. I was literally thinking (hoping) just a couple more weeks. all worth it in the end but in all honesty I thought when you made the massive decision of emigrating that you'd just be able to go whenever you pleased lolol. I really hope it is all worth the time/money/stress. one more thing, are any of you going through an agent? I'm using OE Visas in Edinburgh. Do you think that would slow down my application??
  10. Hi thanks for the reply, god I didn't think it'd take soooo long. That's about another 2 months. Is that how long it took for your visa to finalise?
  11. Hey guys, So we're going through the motions for a 190 visa. Sat the medicals 13 days ago, the results of which we're received by our Case Officer 6 days ago. So ........... How long is it expected to wait for a "final decision"? Does anyone know? Everything else required inc. police checks were submitted a couple of weeks ago too. Just so excited that we've reached this stage in the process, I'm getting nervous every time I get an email in case it's our agent lol thanks in advance
  12. Hi, we lodged our 190 carpenter visa on 27/06/14, were finally contacted by a CO (via our agent OE Visas) on 11/09/14. PCC forms sent away yesterday and medicals booked for 02/10/14 !!!
  13. Hi, just looking for some opinions on this subject. Myself and hubby have only ever thought to use Emirates to fly to Perth via Dubai. He has two cousins who emigrated to Perth and both have used the company and said they're second to none. Only thing is they don't have a 4 year old and 2 year old to make the trip with us when we go. I have been googling the type of plane we'd fly on and what to expect and to be honest it looks cramped and dated and is a little off putting. We can only afford to fly economy so looking for the most comfy option for my babies.
  14. Hi, I was advised by my agent (OE Visas) to wait until the CO asks for them. Not sure of the reason tbh but I waited anyway, no point in doing all the hard work to mess it up at the end. Best of luck Laura
  15. Hi, we lodged our 190 application on 27th June and a Case Officer only contacted our agent last Thursday advising us to get police certificates/medicals so by my count we waited 10 weeks and 3 days for that to happen! Best of luck
