It depends on if immigration has a reason to turn you down. If you lie, or don't meet the requirements then they will refuse it.

I had some very good news two days ago.... My PMV will be granted on 25th Aug. I applied around 10th Oct 2014. As I am already in Aus I emailed my CO to say I will be leaving Aus for a 5 day hol in Aug, she replied that when I return this will activate my PMV! Can't describe how excited I am to start working, I've been here for 3 weeks now and no job is killing me mentally!

I contacted my CO to ask if an upcoming trip would qualify for me being out of the country for 3 working days as I am currently in Aus on an eVisitor, She simply responded with telling me I had 30 days to hand in the final evidence (my Aus police check)... am I looking into this too much by thinking that she is wanting to grant this sooner rather than later? Wishful thinking, I reckon but you never know.

Jen, I did the same two days ago and got a very quick response from my CO with the information I required. I have no idea why they have that auto response up considering some people have to have speak to their CO directly.

i have to say, having already paid a huge sum of money for the original 300, a further $1145 does indeed feel unreasonable for me!

Another question for those in the know. I am currently in Aus on a tourist visa. When they give me notice to leave and re-enter to activate the subclass 300, I understand I have to leave for 3 business days. I already have a trip booked but it will be Thurs night to Tues night. Is this enough for the 3 work days?

The Aus immigration website has changed and I do not appreciate it one bit!! Just to be clear, when I am granted the Subclass 300 and once we get married, do I apply straight away for the partner visa? It's so confusing (and expensive).

I am currently in Aus on a tourist visa, awaiting my PMV to be granted (expected next few weeks). We are currently in Vic but hoping to move to NSW in the very near future to be near family, it's just hard for SO to find a job in that area at the moment. By a massive stroke of luck my sister's company can give me a really good job opportunity when the PMV is granted, and the fact they are willing to wait makes it too good to turn down. However I obviously do not want to live apart from SO, but if I know it is temporary then I can cope. I was wondering if anyone else is in this situation and would immigration be okay with this? Do I have to notify them I am living 5 days a week in another area?

I am in the process of moving back to Aus permanently having lived in Canberra for a few years previously. I love it, I think it's a great city with little traffic and everything in close proximity. I am moving to country Vic (not my choice) and after visiting Adelaide and liking it a lot, I still would pick Canberra over both. I find that the bad rep often comes from Aussies who have barely been to Canberra!!

If this is very important to you, and there is a job you would be happy with on the list then you best start making a plan to enter into that profession. Just don't expect this to happen overnight.

While it's great that the visas are being granted earlier than we '10-14 month' people expected, I am freaking out about wedding planning. I was counting on my visa being granted in Oct at earliest so I could get married in April. I was planning on viewing and booking a venue by July, now I don't know what to do

If it's any help, I included two informal statements from my friends. I just got them to email me confirming they knew us as a couple and that they believed our relationship to be genuine. I think as long as you have the formal ones you will be fine, but it can't hurt to include as much as possible.

What to expect weather wise in Melbourne between September and December?

I would say Melbourne is unpredictable. It can be very hot or cold in any season, and it seems to rain a lot (but as a former Canberra resident, that might be just my perception). I haven't spent much time in Melb as such in Sept, but from memory it wasn't terribly cold - I think around 16 on average. -
One of the things I do miss in Aus is the UK sausages and bacon. The Aus bacon is weird is a common complaint in the English born half of my family. For a country so obsessed with BBQs I don't know why they haven't got good sausages. Anyone know any good suppliers in Melbourne?
