  1. Hey everyone, I joined this forum over a year ago when I lodged my Partner Visa. Once I was in the long waiting stage, I tried to keep my mind off the move (as its a painfully long wait haha!) But a few weeks ago, it was granted! Straight to PR as well!!! Ahhhh. So we are heading over on the 22nd July. Going to book the flights tomorrow. So scared/nervous/excited!
  2. I've just sent mines off last month. I included various documents - bills, anything 'joint' etc. Although we have been together 7 years, living together for 5 years and married nearly three - and to mention two daughters also - I was amazed at just how little we had 'joint names' on. Didn't realise how tough it was to prove our relationship until I done that!
  3. Hi Louise, I lodged my partner visa at the same time as you so I'm hoping a CO gets assigned to me soon haha! x
  4. I'm trying to enjoy the time we have left here, but also trying to not rediscover anything that could make me wobble. Roll on March/April Lol x
  5. I hate this waiting game and I'm only at the beginning... Only lodged my application 3 weeks ago and haven't even been assigned a case officer yet... The next 8 months are going to DRAG in!!! Lol!
  6. Thanks for the heads up that it's back on!
  7. It's a shame they have to cut services and raise the price. If they had kept it how it was - with the dog walking company being able to go in and out, then I wouldn't mind as much. But to cut all corners and raise the price. Can't seem to get my head around it. However, I'm bringing my wee boy either way. 10 days of him being in the quarantine facilities would be nothing compared to being rehomed here in the UK. Least he'll be with the family - one less thing to get 'homesick' about. Lol.
  8. Lol I know, may be a good thing though - less time to have any 'wobbles' haha! Hopefully I'll have us all ready to go once the visa is through. A husband, two daughters and a cat... can feel my stress head coming on already! Lol.
  9. Yeah I'm in the process of sorting out the cat (shots, permits, flights etc), then in a few months once we have a CO, I'll book flights and look into the shipping. Thankfully we only rent here so don't really have much to do before we go. We have family in Australia, so even if the visa was for some reason not to be granted, we could just change dates and go for a holiday. The date I have in my head is the 20th of April... lets see how that goes!! Lol. Thank you
  10. I think its the same for both the facilities Linda. I don't understand why they wouldn't walk the dogs - 10 days in a kennel is a long time without getting out.
  11. Yeah the 10 days is really great - I'd rather the shorter period! Its just the extra things they seem to have cut out completely, just wondered what 'care' has been cut even though the fee has sky rocketed. Either way, a pet's for life so my boy will be coming with us.
  12. I really wish there was ways to protest and know they would take notice! No doubt once the drop in people bring their pets over start to affect their profits, then they will reconsider. By then my boy will be sunning it up in Perth!
  13. A pet is for life, regardless of if you wish to emigrate or not. If you can afford to bring your pet then do so. I would never dream of putting my cat in a rehoming centre here all because I was the one who wants to move, and he happens to just not fit into my lifestyle now. Far too many people have that mindset, clearly why there is so many animals needing rehomed. So in response - a bad idea!!!
  14. Yeah I am aware of this now lol. At the time, I went through the paperwork myself - and didn't know that if they granted your visa your date of entry would be from this date. However, it's done now!
  15. Wonder how many pet owners will now just get their pets rehomed because of the increase. It's not even the money that bothers me as I'm pretty happy its been reduced to 10 days, but its how he's treated in those 10 days is what bothers me. Thats great news Bob, I'll maybe see about that. I've been emailing Zara back and forward, she is really helpful. But I'll fire an email your way and have a look at the pics. Thank you very much. Levi
  16. Hi, I'm currently going through a quote with Pet Air, so I am aware of the shocking price increase in the quarantine stations. With the Perth one being closed, and my cat having to go to the Sydney one - which I will not be able to see for myself, I decided to have a look online for some pictures of the place, or even information. Well seem's there is NONE! How is that possible? Did find a few bad reviews however - and they were before the owners were banned from going into the centre! So anyone's guess as to the quality is like now? Was also shocked to read they only feed them once a day and its DRY food - which obviously isn't great for my cat who gets pretty much all of his water intake from his wet pouches. They don't even let you send in your own cat food - even if its from Australia? So I don't understand how I can stay at a 5* hotel in Sydney for 10 days for cheaper (and be looked after better!) than it is for my cat being confined to the pokey wee space. Oh I also read that dogs are not walked.... Surely that can't be correct?! No idea what like the Melbourne facility is like... Anyone have any good/bad experiences of either one? Or Bob, do you have any info? Thanks!
  17. Hi everyone, I'm a newbie to this form, however have been on others for a while. Just wanted to ask a question which I have searched for, yet unable to find anyone that seems to be in the same situation as me. My husband is an Australian Citizen by descent. He has never lived there, but obviously are planning to now. He included his statement of sponsorship duties in his application with mines, as requested, so hopefully that shouldn't cause any problems. We are married, been together for 7 years and have two daughters together. From what I understand, I may be skipped straight to the 100 visa? So when my husband was applying for his citizenship, I applied for the police checks all at the same time. Mines came back on the 24th of April 2014, however I didn't submit my visa application until 16/06/2014. From what I have also gathered, the visa has the date of entry to Australia before the year is up on the police check. Which then puts us in a position where we are looking at 8-9 months waiting time for grant - taking me to March (hopefully the waiting times dont increase!!). Thus leaving us with a few weeks to make the move. Obviously not much of a problem, as I am preparing now for the move so should be ready by then to up and go. Would a CO grant a visa with only a few weeks to validate? Other question is that as they get their new quota in July - does this speed up or slow down applications that were lodged the end of June? Just in general. Either way, I'm impatient... can you tell? haha
