Well said Ramot.. it’s easy to get caught up in arguments with all the conflicting information out there. It’s good to share knowledge and opinions but it can get out of hand.

This was from the NHS website If you are moving abroad on a permanent basis, you will no longer be entitled to medical treatment in the UK under normal NHS rules. This is because the NHS is a residence-based healthcare system. Most people will also not be entitled to use a UK-issued EHIC card to access healthcare abroad.

Amsaini, your sponsor has to apply for the assurance of support with proof of earnings for the last two years and ongoing income ie payslips.

You can only use dual nationality to travel to and from for so long, as I understand it. Don’t you have to get a residents return after five years? I think you can only get that after spending two of the previous five years actually living in Australia?

Hi Vicky my daughter got the call from centrelink on 22nd October then the acceptance letter came five days later.

I’m not expecting to hear anything until around Christmas time

She was told when she got the letter of approval which was on the 1st Nov, to transfer the bond and the paperwork would be sent in 4-5 weeks

My daughter transferred the bond for the aos on the 1st November. She was told the paperwork would be transferred to be processed in four weeks time.

For me, the aos took 27 weeks from lodgement to interview,. My daughter in law spent hours on the phone to centre link to be told it takes 18 weeks. After the interview They said allow five days for a letter instructing her to transfer the bond then it will be four weeks before everything is sent to to the department for processing

My daughter had her telephone interview today for the assurance of support. Documents were submitted on 16th April! She was told she would be notified in 10 days by letter, to transfer the bond and it will be 4-6 weeks before it will be passed to the case officer to be processed.

It will be interesting to see if you can work on this visa. I would not want or expect my daughters or the Australian govt. to be responsible for my income. I have worked all my life, I applied for the 143 so that I could come over to Australia and see my daughters more regularly than once a year, not to sponge on anyone, to enjoy and contribute in equal measure.

None of us want to become a burden to the Australian community and I for one would like to work to keep myself rather than expect my daughters to provide my income. I wonder how much this new temporary visa is going to cost?

It's making me think twice too! I realise you have five years after the visa is granted to move over, its time enough to reflect, do you have to move over permanently after this time? Otherwise give up your visa?

Hi everybody! I got an acknowledgement email today for my 143! This seems rather soon as I only applied 10days ago! They haven't taken any money yet! I notice payment is usually taken first....??? They are saying it is taking approximately 24 months to process.

Thanks Joe! Done it! I'm heading to Sydney to start with.. I have one daughter living in Bondi Beach, then Melbourne, South Yarra, where my other daughter lives. Not sure where I'll settle.How about you?

I am right at the beginning of this long journey! I applied for the 143 only yesterday! It has taken me an age to fill in the forms and collect all the documents already! I'm sure it will be worth it! How do I add my progress at the bottom of posts, like when I applied, acknowledgement etc?
