  1. Hi Tony, I'm not sure but I think you have to be out of the country when the visa is granted.
  2. Thanks Blueray! I thought I'd read it somewhere that you can do this, but it seems you can apply for this if you haven't submitted an application for residency?
  3. Hi all! Once you have put in the application for a 143 parent visa, can you stay longer than three months as a visitor while it is going through? I noticed you can no longer apply for a 676, does anyone know if there is a relacement for this?
  4. I would ask your doctor if the op is going to affect the medical, if not, have the medical first and don't mention it. If it's major surgery then yes, I would tell them. Honesty is always the best policy and if your op is going to affect your health afterwards, I think it's best to let them know.
  5. Hi Steve Thanks for your advice. It's a dilemma, and yes, not a step to take lightly. I have some savings but not much. I will be financially exposed and so I'm still thinking very carefully and weighing up all the options.
  6. Hi Val Thanks so much, this does help, I hadn't thought of borrowing against my home. I will look into that. Karen
  7. Hi all, Does anyone know how much time is given to pay for the visa once it's been granted? I will have to sell my home to pay for it and the housing market where I live is static. Suppose I don't sell it in time? I'm also worried that if I do sell it and then get a refusal.
  8. Great news! I'm still at the beginning of my journey so feel inspired to hear this! Thanks for sharing!
  9. Thanks for the advice Alan! I noticed the surcharge myself. It's quite significant isn't it?
  10. Has anyone been refused a parent visa on health grounds? I have mental health issues and my husband has had heart trouble in the past. We are both well now but was wondering if this would impact on our application?
  11. Hi Alan, I've just been on your website and it looks great! Still not sure which state to apply for yet,I love both Sydney and Melbourne. Once you get out there do you have to stay in one place for a while before you can move?
  12. Hi everyone, I'm new on here. Both of my daughters live in Australia, one in Melbourne the other in Sydney and I am planning to apply for the contributory parent visa 143. I'm not sure whether to use a migration agent in Australia or get one in England, anyone got any advice?
