I Know! Keeping fingers and toes crossed we all hear back soon too! Im already in Australia at the moment on a WHV, checking the scene out. I applied for a 189 so that I can continue working for the employer as they weren't ready to sponsor my other half too and I thought the best way to bring him over would be to apply and add him as a dependent/partner....Most complicated situation ever....CO is probably going to start sweating once they see my application....Where are u thinking of moving to? xx

Yeah for a 189. Unless he is telling porkies...No dependents or partner though....I wonder if that simplifies the CO's decision...

One of my friends who applied on the 14th of July Offshore just heard back with a Direct Grant, looks like we are deffo moving up the queue guys! Not Long!

Oh the link says 'Complete character particulars etc etc for this applicant' When you click on it, it directs you to fill out form 80, which you need to save and reattach it to the checklist. Which I have done....twice....the CO is probably going to think im 'special'.... Keeping fingers crossed because my situation is a bit complicated. Im on a WHV and want to continue working with the same company and therefore applied for 189 so that my husband who is currently in the US can come and join me. Maybe the Immi Dept thought my application was Whaaaack and wanted me to do Form 80 just to understand what the situation is... And thanks Shellyk666 Im pretty sure by the end of next week you WILL HAVE that grant!!

Nope Iv been checking it 8 million times a day incl my junk folder....No correspondence or any sign of a CO. I doubt I have a CO yet, they are only just sifting through the June applicants. Maybe Im one of those random unlucky ones, but its funny coz I had already uploaded form 80 4 days before that link appeared...

Hey Guys, I lodged my application on the 21st of July and front loaded everything (well as much as I could!) and attached my form 80 and birth certificate a week ago. However it doesn't look like they have acknowledged it as it still hasn't showed up as 'received' on the check list.(Usually I get the 'received' after a day or two) And all of a sudden yesterday, a link showed up under where the 'Health requirement' used to be.... asking me to fill out FORM 80. Has anyone else been prompted to fill out Form 80?

Hey ShelGa, Im in a pretty similar situation. However you don't need to get a ADC skills assessment for AHRPA. I managed to get that and started working here on a WHV while my husband is 'finishing' a project in the US. With a UK BDS, you are eligible to work in Aus, without a skills assessment however the paper work is ridiculous, and the time it takes for them to reg you is a nightmare. This is what I have done...and keeping my fingers crossed that it will be ok! I looked on Seek.com.au for a job. Had a couple of Skype interviews got a job in QLD, Applied for AHPRA (probably best to get that sorted before you start work because alot of places ask for it). In the meantime I had sent my docs to ADC for skills assessment. Started working, got my skills assessment and have now lodged my 189 application with my spouse as a dependent (without skills assessed) Keeping my fingers crossed...lets see how it goes! I was sent a brochure of it prepared by the company hiring me. I was offered a job in Brisbane but I was warned the Dentists there struggle to keep busy due to high competition and I thought I would take up the Toowoomba practice instead and they offered me the option to be moved anywhere else if I wasnt feeling it in TW! I know its a bit of a more mature town with regards to night life etc...but I have grown up on the Isle of Man...cant imagine it being more livelier than that! Did you sort your phone, bank acc and TFN in Brisbane? How do I go about ordering a TFN, can I do it from the UK? Also did you need a car? Or can I depend on public transport til I am able to 'settle' and then look for one? Thank you for your advice! xxx P.s for some strange reason I keep having to correct myself and say its Toowoomba and not Tumbawumba...

Hey guys, I just sent my contract off for a job in Toowoomba, I am 26 y/o female and moving by myself (dunno if that was foolish or incredibly brave havnt decided yet ) and hoping to be there first week of May on a WHV. I start work on the 13th of May. I am absolutely clueless as to how to go about it all. Probably should have looked into before I signed the contracts but...well...its done now..! I am planning to fly to Brisbane and spending few days there to set up a SIM card/phone number and bank account and possibly look into a car? In your experience how much before starting a job should I try and move there to set up. What are the must do things I need to have in place before I start? From my knowledge a place to stay in toowoomba, a phone, a bank account, Medicare, Tax file number....and a car maybe? Is there anyone here from Toowoomba who made the similar move? Also I would totally grateful if you could advise me on what places to stay and where to steer away from. I am hoping to find a flat share as it may be more economical and frankly I need all the friends that I can get! I would truly appreciate any words of wisdom or advice and if there is anyone from Toowoomba here that I can 'be-friend' as its all very daunting moving alone Much love and thank you in advance for any ideas/input, this forum has been a fountain of knowledge! xx
