I was gettin very very depressed after bein here for under 2 years - 6 years for you wow you deserve more than a medal. One thing - we really learn to appreciate Austraia a hell of a lot more now hey!

  5. Wow congrats to you !! How ling have they given you to b offshore to validate visa? We will be doing same as you and coming over earlier too.
  6. Looks like this new financial year is going to be a tough one for all of us - id say some changes , not good ones have gone down at diac. Sounds like youll def get visa though so have u thought about just getting tourist visa and taking off?
  7. I know! Its the longest stretch i can remember without visas being granted. We are at 6 months so a while yet.
  8. thanks for that!! Ok and how long is usually given after grant of visa to when i need to b in oz to validate visa? Is it usually about 6 months to finalise affairs?
  9. Just a quick question - does anyone know the average / approx amount of time given to be in Australia after visa granted? I know it's a year from when medical/ police clearance what I mean how long does diac like to give people to finalise affairs from when visa granted to time to need to be in oz? So if applied say 5/2/2014 medical/police check done 5/5/2014 visa granted 5/11/2014 that would give me 6 months - 5/5/2015 to be out of the country by. Is that the approx time given to finalise affairs? hope this isn't too confusing!!
  10. Hiya! We too have been told visa will be granted- which doesnt appear to have been the norm but its probably a change of policy that oncr meds / police clearance and all other checks are ok then CO can tell people visa will be granted. Up until recently ive not seen that before. We are counting on it too and have sold up and planning to leave before end of year too. So we r stuffed too if we dont get visa!
  11. oh and with house tips - get house looking as display home as possible - eg minimal clutter , take all pics down , just pack as much away as possible and hide! If u can or need to a lick of paint as neutral as possible does wonders too! I used to be a real estate agent. That's the sort of advice I'd give my landlords.
  12. ohhh your poor aunt hope she recovers soon that would be very painful , hope the NHS is treating her well. shame about the house not selling yet - I'd imagine it's the right time of year to be selling?? Is real estate moving slowly there? We are in Aberdeen area so luckily for us house sold quickly. Fingers crossed for Aug tho - I'll send you my positive vibes for the 18th! Yes defo re gardening tips - funny we were talking today about garden we will have. I'm hoping to buy a house with next to no garden established so I can create a completely new one , it's not that hard I'll tell you how! Actually I need to try and find out if anyone it know in Oz has a - forgot what you call it - a business owners/ trades card?? So can get plants from Benara nurseries in Wanneroo. It's great it's a massive nursery with a huge range of plants of all sizes , that only sells to businesses - so can get plants at trade prices.
  13. Thanks! ill hang in there then! How you going ? You looking at making a move soon? I'm heading off in Sept and partner will be joining me prob in Oct after stuff is sorted here. Visa is due for OH around Oct/ Nov fingers crossed! Can't wait to get back , settle into working , buying a house and planning my garden! Oh and starting up my around the river walks - I used to love doing that walk. Since I've been here it's been to cold to go out much and I'm getting sooooo unfit - sun sun sun at last - soon !!
  14. Hi MT! Does it state somewhere that the new 10-14 months timeline is only for new applicants? Hope it's not for current ones , I almost had a coronary when I read that! Geezzzzz god help anyone and everyone going through this process - doesn't seem to be getting any easier does it? Cheers:wacko:
  15. Hiya! Id suggest asking your person at GM sending email to your CO and asking how your medical went and the current status of your application ad will your application be granted.
  16. How long ago did they quote that? I think of late they have been telling people that all info has been assessed , nothing further required and that visa will be granted in the original 8 - 9 month period quoted .
  17. My advice is after youve done medical and police check send email asking if anythong further that they may require and visa application status update.
  18. Why dont you ask your CO what the status of your application is - cant do any harm!
  19. I would very much doubt theyd say no to visa at so far into process?? Maybe email and say you understand they cant give you datd for visa yet but could theyat least confirm you have been assessed and will be granted visa because you have buyers for your property and need to exchange. Up to you - i would but then again i dont mind being a tad pushy!
  20. I love gardening n think im pretty ok at it so happy to give u some tips when we r there! Cant wait!
  21. We are trying to sell house and business - a pain isn't it? I'm booked to go back early September and OH will stay here to tie up loose ends , we are hoping everything sells!! Either way OH also coming to oz prob October at around 8 month mark on tourist visa if 309 not sorted by then. Kelmscott is ok however I believe some areas can be rough around there , I always suggest to people if they find a house they want to buy before committing to an offer knock on a few of the neighbours doors and ask what area is like - trust me they're usually more than happy to spill if any dodgy goings on in area! I think we've narrowed it down to ferndale or maybe canningvale but I like look of ferndale a 3brm under 500k and 4x2 s around 520-560k , 1970s/80s style homes, all on full size blocks so pretty good value!
  22. Hi jayney how long did they give u to leave the country? Congrats on visa!!
