  1. Hi BestyBlue, Thanks for the info that was great. So a good time to arrive would be June then? Did you send any pets over? We have a 6 year old lab that will be coming with us. Jx
  2. Hi, I've just filled out the contact form, if you need any more details let me know. Thanks. Jx
  3. That was a quick reply, thanks. Ok, that's good to know it doesn't have aircon though, a mechanic has suggested I have it installed here in the UK? What are the costs I'm looking at to import? Thanks, Jules
  4. Hi, Hopefully someone can help me please. I have a very much loved MX5 1.8i Sport reg in 2003, only done 17,000 miles. Looking at moving to Brisbane. We have been told it can go in a 40 foot container with our furniture etc. Is it worth importing? Any advise would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Jules

  6. Great to read your experiences. One question...we were planning on shipping over our household possessions, furniture etc and my car. Would you recommend this or is it more cost defective to start again? Jules
  7. Can't wait to get there!!! I'm in the long tedious process of getting my skills assessed, still waiting after 15weeks! Due to sit the academic IELTS take 2 on Saturday, fingers crossed. Then applying for PR, looking at the Sunshine Coast, the weather is definitely the draw for us. lol though here in Suffolk in the UK at the moment the weather is absolutely gorgeous. Jules
  8. Leey, omg where do you live, It cost me £55 for a 50 min lesson!!! I'm applying for the visa as a Radiographer and my husbands a builder & joiner so hopefully one of us will get a job.
  9. Thanks leey, tuition was helpful if I was doing the general test as that is what they went over, poor communication on the tutors part! So I'm now going back next week for further tuition on the academic. I sit that on the 12th July, if I don't get the grades l will go for the general in August. So fingers crossed. Have you got your visa now? Jx

Hi GeoSurfer, I am getting it for points only, l did want to do the general but the tutor advised me that to get 8 in the general I would need more points than in the academic for the same score. So the academic is booked for the 12th and if l fail that I will go for the general. Jules
  11. It was a great inspiration to read this as I'm trying again, it's only my second attempt but it's so frustrating especially when I'm a native! I got a 6.5 on reading and I need a 8! I am going for extra tuition tomorrow at £55 for 50 mins argh, I hope it's going to be worth it. I've been told it's all about learning to play their game and know the rules! The clocks ticking as l have 18months before l turn 45 and the dream will be over. fingers crossed. Jules

Hi, I've also got to repeat as I got a 6.5 in the academic reading. Which one did you do general or academic? I'm really tempted to try the general it looks so much easier, would this be a true assumption to make?! Jules
  13. Hi all, Please can anyone advise me on what IELTS Academic practice books l can purchase? Have you found any that was particularly beneficial for gaining '8s' in all sections. I passed in listening & speaking, but not so hot in the reading section. I'm going to be doing round 2 on 12/7/14. I have also booked a couple of one to one sessions with a tutor, it's a joke as I'm a native speaker with a degree. But hey ho, we all seem to have to jump through these hoops of we want to fulfil our dreams, as frustrating, time consuming & expensive as it is. Many thanks in advance. Jules
  14. Hi, I'm after some advise please... I sat my academic IELTS a few weeks ago, but unfortunately l did not get the full 8 points for each section that l need for points. I'm now considering doing the general. Has someone done both and is the general easier? I was originally going for the academic as l was looking at state sponsorship, however, now I'm just thinking of going for the independent visa. Luckily my skills assessment working body does not need me to have an IELTS test, my British passport is enough. Any advise will be greatly appreciated. Jules
  15. Ok thanks for that, I must admit I did google it after I wrote my post, thought it was too good to be true haha Jx
  16. Hi Kim2ka2, We are looking at moving to Queensland next year, hopefully the Sunshine Coast area as there is a new hospital being built, so hoping for good job opportunities. I'm a medical Radiation Therapist & my Husband is a Kiwi builder, we have 2 boys age 14 & 17. Im with you on the 8 legged critters haha, but I've decided they are not going to ruin a new adventure! I would be very interested in the replies to your thread also, so fingers crossed. Jules
  17. I didn't know you could gain 20 points from getting 7's in both academic & general, that was very exciting to read haha, how sad am l!!! I did the academic 10 days ago and found it excruciating, l get the results on Friday. Jules
  18. Hi all, We are hoping to move to Queensland next year  We visited family at Christmas and loved it, we stayed in the Sunshine Coast. I'm a Medical Radiation Therapist & sent off for my skills to be assessed 6 weeks ago & l sat the academic IELTS 10 days ago, l get my results on Friday argh!!!! OMG that was tough, I recommend you do all the practise test papers. My husband is a Kiwi so if all else fails we will go over on his passport, but that would mean we would be temporary residents which I'm not keen on as l have 2 boys, age 14 & 17 who I'd rather not have to pay for in the education system. My 17 year is still undecided if he will come, it seems to depend if he has a girlfriend at the time! I agree the process takes sooo long!!!! We just want to be there, I lost both my parents 18 months ago, so apart from friends, my remaining family is in OZ & my husbands family is in NZ. And unfortunately I'm 2 years off my 45th birthday so time is running short. So fingers crossed. Jules x
  19. Hi, I am currently waiting for my skill assessment for either a 189 or a 190 visa, but it looks like l could be entitled to apply for the 461 visa if all else fails as my husband is a kiwi. The only problem is it would be temporary and as we also have children, I think we will have to pay for their schooling. Do you also need private medical insurance or are you covered on Medicare? Jules
  20. Yes it did, but it didn't say I had to be full time, I just had to provide what hours l worked part time. I was only going for state sponsorship to Queensland as this is where we would like to live and it says it's a quicker process?!
