  1. Hi all, I am new to the group. Looking at skilled visa options to emigrate to Australia and have the support of an agency. However, I have been working PT as a teacher for several years and am now moving towards a research field at a local university. Can anyone advise the strength of a visa application for a primary teacher who has been working PT or had a career break? My points score is good, I also have a masters in education. Husband is an engineering operations manager in a power station, earns a very good salary but does not have an engineering degree; worked his way up to position with experience and other qualifications relevant to post. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
  2. In a panic! Had an invite from NSW to apply for 190 state sponsorship. I am claiming 10 points for 6.5 years work experience in my skilled profession. But....its just occurred to me. I have had maternity leave in this time and dropped from 37.5 hours a week to 22 hours a week. Will this still count?? Help, I'm in a right panic now!!
  3. Hi all, I'm panicking here slightly, having now read the Skilled State Sponsorship requirements for Queensland I'm unsure if I meet the work experience criteria... - have at least two years full time work experience in your nominated skilled occupation... I am a Medical Radiation Therapist, l have a Bachelors degree, & I've been qualified for 7 years. But I've only worked part time, 30 hours for 4 years and 22.5 hours for the last 3 years, as I was raising a family. Will I still be able to apply? Hopefully someone can answer my question. Thanks in advance, jules
  4. Hello everyone, I am planning to move to Australia. I am a software engineer by education from a very elite institute in India (Indian Institute of Technology Delhi) and have worked for both finance and software industry for three years in total. I want to do a part time culinary course from Australia and I can work along side (in either IT or finance). I am planning to get a part time job say maybe 4 days or something. I wanted to know what kind of visa would suit for the part time work and would I be able to study while being on that visa? I like the option of the work visa and then study part time with it better than being on student visa and work part time (20 hrs per week). I see that the software engineer profession is amongst one of the skillsets. Thank you so very much, Priyanka
  5. please can anyone clarify. to get 5 points I need to work for 3 years over 20 hours a week on a contract. I have worked as a nurse 22 hours a week sometimes extra on a contract for the last 4 years. is the three years experience needed for points based on full time hours as I was told on my ANMAC skills assessment that my work would only count for approx 18 months. does anyone know how this is calculated, is full time 35 or 37.5 hours a week? and how I can calculate how many more months I would need to work for to be considered the equivalent of 3 years full time? thanks:biggrin:
