  1. Hi, we're moving from Brissy to Melbourne for work. Hubby finally found a job after 22 months of searching!!!! Does anyone know if Lalor, Roping and other suburbs are OK? Hubby will be working in cbd and wants to commute on train. Happy to be up-to an hour commute. Anybody have any suburb advice or experience? Any help much appreciated [emoji3] Sent using Poms in Oz mobile app
  2. Hi there, Well have finally made it from the UK to Oz!. On a spousal visa and have been here for 2 weeks. I was hoping to register with AHPRA but my degree is not awarded until September and I found out I was pregnant in April after we had booked flights etc. So here we are 17 weeks pregnant and no jobs! All good! Luckily staying with mother in law until hubby gets work. Anyone else new to Brisbane? :err:
  3. Hi Sandd, This is my experience. I got my med check done in March 2014 and Police check in April 2014 so was expecting to have to be in Oz before they ran out. I was all set to have to make a trip to activate the visa and then sort out the final move for later this year. My visa was approved 10 Dec 14 and I have to make first entry into Oz by 22 June. Hope that helps.
  4. Its a pain especially when mum lives another 1 hr flight from Perth! She lives in a lovely small 'town' one road in type place but by the coast so the beach is lovely. a little to isolated for me though! Perth is great though. I think after the 8+ month wait for the visa, where you can't really plan anything, and then all of a sudden you have a date you HAVE to be there by its all a bit of a shock even though this what i've wanted to do since I was younger. Having family over there is really going to help as well. OH family have welcomed me with open arms and i feel like i have a gained a sister with my sister in law. Plenty of adventures and excitement ahead.
  5. Hi Verystormy, Thanks for the reply. I think its just the job thing that is freaking me out a little. His mum and family have been really supportive and say we'll be fine. My Mum lives in WA so at least we'll be on the same continent for the first time in 10.5 years and she's excited for the both of us. We will be having the 'what if' chat in case of worst case scenario. We have no children yet
  6. Hi and Happy New Year to all, I got my partner visa on 10 Dec and have an IED of 22 June. Its all a bit scary now. We are moving to Brisbane as that is where my husband is from. I go from being very excited to being worried and a bit scared. Does anyone else feel that way? I think the main concern is that at the moment neither of us have jobs to go to yet. I am a nurse but can't register until I have got my degree. My final module starts on Monday so fingers crossed the degree will be awarded before we go! (as long as I pass) Hubby is a train driver and would love to continue driving in Oz. Hopefully he can get a job.
  7. Hi All, I got my visas as well! So excited. Took 8 months and 27 days. Brisbane here we come!!!:smile:
