  1. In Perth... Only selling as moving to the other side of Australia. I will let it go for $19000 which is the cheapest low miles 2013 Kia Sportage by far. Been a fantastic car, just serviced, in excellent condition. If you want a trouble free car fresh off the plane this is the one. If i can't sell it for $19000 i will keep the car and drive it over. Sort of tempted to do this BUT i think $19000 is a very very fair price, plus warranty until late 2018. http://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/woodvale/cars-vans-utes/2013-kia-sportage-automatic-24k-km-full-dealer-sh/1111143393
  2. Have you considered Perth - it would easily tick all your boxes. I can offer advise on areas. Have a look at Carine or Duncraig to start off - very well regarded public schools 5 min to the beach 15 min to CBD or 20min by train.
  3. If it were me and i needed the money say by August this year - I would balance the risk and transfer half before the vote and the remainder after. The A$ is currently drifting downwards after the RBA speech today helped by commodities flagging. Think long and hard and go with a decision which will give you the least regret in your time frame - no one will ever know when to get the best rate, we can only make an educated guess which is still a 100% gamble!!! The longterm view is the pound should strengthen against the A$ as rates are likely to go up in the UK before Aus (and we need a low dollar to pull us out of the mining bust so it will be encouraged) BUT that would be from late this year and ANY THING could happen to throw that view upside down!
  4. Hi, a deep filling has been bugging me all year flaring up every month or so, but now i'm experiencing constant discomfort so having just visited the dentist he reckons from the XRAY he can see some darkspots at the root of the tooth and if the niggles continue I will need root canal treatment and a crown. No major dental insurance built up as i have just arrived in Aus, Perth. Yes it's gonna be an expensive day! I'm looking for personal recommendations of dentists in Perth and I'm willing to stump up a little more for an endodontist who i understand would use magnification which increases the longterm success of the treatment. If you know of someone good please help out. Thanks
  5. Thanks for that info. I think we will go with 2 to 3 weeks holiday let (depending on availability) and hope for the best. Looking on the Domain property website and sorting by Inspection dates there are loads of properties available everyday to view and given the current rental market I'm confident we will find something now within a few weeks at the most.
  6. We found what looks like a good place in Fremantle for the first 2 weeks. Just need to hit that book button, final look tonight. Then to keep options open in the hope of securing a rental, will be looking at any nice suburb with in 10km of the CBD. Ultimately we like the look of the big gardens in Kalamunda, but feel too risky to start there without know where work may be.
  7. Thanks for the replies, we have a few AirBNB places selected with availability, just trying to make the decision to either get a 3 month place initially or 2 weeks and hope we find and get approved for a rental in the first week or two. I'm leaning towards the latter. We hope to have made a decision by the end of the weekend.
  8. Please keep us updated on how you get on with rentals. We coming over at the end of Nov and will be looking too.
  9. Love to hear how you have all got on with rentals, especially over the December to January period. Our family (mom, dad and 2yr twins) arrive on the 28th Nov and i'm concerned about finding a rental over the Christmas period. We have enough to tie us over for a few months to find jobs but my big worry is being homeless over Christmas! For the right place I know we will probably have to offer 6 months rent in advance to even stand a chance of being successful, but will it be enough?!
  10. I'm aware of at least one 190 grant issued to an April applicant today. Sure he'll update the spreadsheet shortly.
  11. I thought it was only a public holiday in ACT and WA today? According to Google results anyway...
  12. Hi, the existing thread is over here: http://www.pomsinoz.com/forum/migration-issues/216173-190-visa-july-lodge-gang.html
  13. We saw this status too - the panel Dr you saw hasn't completed your medical (or is awaiting results). Once it's been uploaded to DIBP, the status will change to "Completed" and you'll see a date it was sent off. I presume you only did your medical in the last few days?
  14. sending big congrats Ss190. When you planning on flying out?
  15. I'm originally from SA but medical done in the UK and lived here 14yrs. Don't think that's the reason for my referral as even local SA applicants aren't automatically referred. Thanks for the timeline update. The wait is painful!
  16. Thanks for the comments, I was leaning towards waiting, which you guys confirmed is the right decision.
  17. My medical and my children's medical have been referred to the MOC. I presume I have been referred as I have a condition which is controlled by following a gluten free diet. At the time of the medical I had a letter from my GP stating the condition doesn't effect my daily life, etc, usual stuff, but the panel Dr said she didn't need the letter. Her daughter had something similar so we had a chat about it and she said the letter wasn't necessary. Now I'm wondering if it would not be better when someone from the MOC reviews my medical they would find that letter useful. Should i I send the letter to our case officer or is that preempting to far? Anyone know the referred medical timelines? We 27 days in so far.
  18. They wouldn't tell us anything over the phone... except the last time I called I spoke to a lovely lady who said you should hear something in 3 to 4 weeks and it's being processed and finalised. No mention medical referred. Next day we received a reply to our email saying medicals referred. We expected them to be referred so no surprise, just wish we knew 25 days ago, when I guess they were referred. Have you tried calling them?
  19. We just found out our medicals have been referred. Not great news but at least we know the reason for the delay now. Anyone know the current referral timeline?
  20. Same team as us and similar lodge date, we are still waiting...
  21. Afraid not. We did call but got the same chap we spoke to 1.5weeks earlier, who again would not tell us anything. So we are none the wiser. Also had no replies to ours 2 emails. We going to wait a while now before any means of contact again. Every night we hope to get that email, it's painful! Lodged 28 May, CO 07 Aug, Meds 28 Aug.
  22. Thanks so much, we going to call tonight using Skype too.
  23. Hi emwatson, many congrats on the grant!! I noticed in your previous thread you called another number, please could you share it with us. Last time we called we were told nothing... we don't even know if our medicals have cleared!? Thanks in advance
  24. I would say a successful migrant is one who has a job/satisfaction, gained citizenship and is ok emotionally. I don't believe you have to be very happy to be a successful migrant.
