  1. I know it's bloody crazy! I'm 31 and hubby is 32. We won't be far from you as heading to pacific pines. What are we doing! I'm dreading that day when we actually go! Say goodbye how the hell am I going to cope on that flight! Trying to be strong for the kids so it feels good chatting on here to people going through the same experience!
  2. So glad I'm not the only one totally bricking it! Well you have just made one friend! How old are your kids? Same here in regards to financing the move! It's so mad all the different emotions, I can go from going to bed thinking yes let's do this to waking up saying no let's not! Total nightmare. X
  3. Yes we keep saying the same thing it would be easy to say let's just stay here and carry on living as we are, which is a good life filled with family and friends but I know that somewhere down the line we will regret not giving it a go! I have a ve a new found respect for anyone who has emigrated whether they have stayed or returned it's such a brave thing to do! Xx
  4. WOBBLES I need a stronger word than that! Lol. Oh Tina I never thought I'd feel like this and I'm sure you are right everyone must get like this unless they have no feelings! Leaving friends/family soooo hard. We definitely need to meet up. How many weeks do you have left in the UK? X
  5. Think it's too late now seen as we exchange tomorrow! If we came back hubby could get a job back in his trade as a diesel mechanic as he is very well thought of but he may not be able to go back to the exact job unless there was a vacancy. He has a job to go to and we will have money from house sale but I won't be able to work initially as baby is only 18 months, unless of course she could do a couple of days at nursery whilst I work just depends if that works out financially. We won't be better off financially out there probably worse off in fact! Yes there's def an element of adventure/life experience to it and if we came back kids have experienced living in a different country but I just hope that doesn't back fire. I wish I had a crystal ball!
  6. Thank you and I know your right we should give it a go, I'm being such a whimp!
  7. You probably can't answer but are we doing the right thing? We exchange on our house tomorrow and should be heading to the Gold Coast in September but my god the doubts are creeping in now! The saying you don't know what you got until it's gone springs to mind! All of a sudden everything we have here means so much more. Having spent time with family and friends lately the thought of not seeing them breaks my heart. Taking the kids away from Grandparents, husband leaving a job he loves, kids are doing well at school (although I don't like the school) I have a huge support network. Giving all that up because we believe we can give the kids a better life in Australia. I'm sure you have heard all this before but with 8 weeks ish to go I'm having a complete panic about it. Any help? Comments? We keep saying let's just try it for a year and see! Kids are 7, 9 and 18 ,months.
  8. Well all being well house shud b done in the next few weeks then we were thinking September as I have my grans 80th birthday end of August but we now keep talking about going sooner. X
  9. Yeah selling our house here, yes I have one boy who is 7 and two girls 8 and 1. We are all moved out, living with my parents as house should complete any day now! I know that feeling of a house being full! We currently have 7 of us in a 3 bed house. I. Used to just us in a 4 bed house!
  10. Not yet . Soon as house has completed that's the first thing I'll be doing! We are heading to Gold Coast but my brother is heading to Perth! He got his visa this week too!
  11. Yes yes yes whoooo hooooo go celebrate and start your planning! So happy for you. Wen u planning the move and what's the activation date on ur visa xx

  16. Cant believe your still waiting! I'm assuming your waiting in the 1st July now? Is that the case. Yes all calmed a bit, we are currently living with my parents and house is in final stages of completing. Soon as we have completed on house we can decide on a move date! Very exciting but sad too as leaving fam and friends. Good luck to you and I'll keep my fingers crossed that your grant comes sooner rather than later x
  17. Hey everyone just thought I would say hi and see how your all getting on? X
  18. Thank you for your reply. we are coming to Aus on a 189 pr visa. We are uk citizens and have lived in our house for 9 years. Our plan is to rent our property here in the UK and then we will rent a house in Aus. If we are happy and settled in Aus after a couple of years then we plan to sell our UK home to buy in Aus. So could we be liable for tax in both countries? Or is that only the case if it was big some of money? X
  19. Does anyone know the tax issues with renting a property in UK and living in Aus? My understanding is we will have to pay any tax in Uk but if money is regularly coming to us in AUS will it be taxed again? Also does anyone know much about capital gains tax in Aus if we sold uk house at a later date? Sorry if I sound stupid but I have no idea when it comes to things like this!
  20. Yeahhhhhhh fantastic news well done you fabulous. I'm gonna have a beer for you. What area u heading too xx
  21. Oh guys I completely understand how your feeling it's horrible, feels like walking around under a cloud! I keep checking to see how your getting on and really looking forward to your posts that will say 'grant'. You start thinking that it won't happen but it will. Ours was lodged in jan and we got grant mid April, my daughters meds got looked so that was the delay for us. ILL BE KEEPING EVERYTHING CROSSED for you both. Try to have a good weekend and forget about it til Monday. Xxx
  22. You are on here to have a frigging laugh!!
  23. Good luck to all of you still waiting I completely understand the pain of waiting! My god it's truly awful, everyone told me it will come but you start doubting it especially when you see others getting their grants! But everyone was right! It just takes that one day for the case officer to go hey I've got everything let's give these people the grant! I'll be waiting to hear all your good news very soon. Xxx
  24. Could anyone advise on what house prices are doing on Gold Coast at moment and anyone know which direction they are going in? Just weighing up our options as to keep or sell uk house, at mo our plan is keep it now and rent out as it's in south east and prices keep rising so thinking sell in a few years once we are sure we are staying in Australia. Are prices likely to rise as quickly on Gold Coast? Then there's the exchange rate??? Was told as economy in uk gets better then you get more Aus dollar for the pound? Too many decisions! Any advice? Xx
