  1. Have we got a date when the decision from parliament is likely to be announced on these proposed changes?
  2. It's in my signature: Nomination Applied: 13/10/2016 Approved: 10/04/2017 VISA Applied: 30/11/2016 Approved: 26/04/2017
  3. Hi all, just to let you know my VISA was granted this morning, biggest weight lifted. Now to wait 4 years for this bloody citizenship
  4. Quick one guys (saves me creating a new thread). For those from the UK when you applied for your ACRO Police Clearance did they email you when it gets dispatched or not? Cheers.
  5. awesome thank you. Should have sent it to a mate in the UK in hindsight. Hopefully it comes quick!
  6. Thanks @Hapy. Yes got approved (nomination part) yesterday, made a bloody error though didn't I. I've now been asked to submit a police clearance for the UK. I didn't think and had only done an Australian one. To make matters worse it looks like delivery can be a couple of weeks as they don't send the certificate via email like the one for Australia. Applied this morning for the certificate.

    Hi

    Welcome to the forum.
  8. Sorry, LR - Transition - Nom submitted 13/10/16. Visa submitted 30/11/16.
  9. Looks like there is some movement for me. They've been in touch with Head Office who did the nomination part and asked for some extra documents which were easily dealt with. Fingers crossed!!
  10. Thanks for all your help guys, much appreciated.
  11. Hi guys so i've been here in Sydney on my 457 visa for over two years now and I want to apply for permanent residency. Everything on the internet seems to contradict itself so wanted to ask those who have first hand experience in this for help. My best bet seems to be the Temporary Residence Transition via the 186 Employer Nomination Scheme. Whilst my current employer has agreed to do this I have to do all the leg work. My initial question is: Does the employer have to submit an employer nomination first even though I am already on a 457 visa? after which I can then apply for the Employer Nomination Scheme visa (subclass 186) Any help is much appreciated as always!
  12. Hi all, so I'm quickly approaching my 2 years in Australia on my sponsorship (457 VISA). Now obviously after two years it is possible to apply for permanent residency which I am extremely keen to do. Here's the kicker, I've been approached about a very similar role for a different company but the benefits are incredible, now my question is: Should they transfer my VISA am I still eligible for the new company to apply for PR? would I have to wait a further 2 years a risk having nothing at the end once it expires? or do I have to have a new 457 VISA and start from scratch? All help much appreciated as always. Cheers, Bev.
  13. Before I left for Oz, the England games got moved from 2am to like 11pm GMT (TV $$$), so guessing they will be around 10am etc the games, so perfect for all day drinking sessions!!. (Subject to daylight saving and all that jazz!)
  14. I'm in Olympic Park there is stuff going off all the time for kids.
  15. Right so as I said previously I am moving to Sydney on 4th January. Fortunately my employers are putting me up in a hotel for 3 weeks whilst I get (kind of) settled. I am 27, and my girfriend 25. I need some advice on where to live!! My work will be based at the Sydney Olympic Park, my girlfriend will initially be coming over unemployed so I have to keep that in mind for when she does need a job so I will no doubt need to be near good transport links. Naturally, I want to live in and around Bondi Junction, but can imagine this being a bit of a ball ache travelling to my place of work every day!! So I wondered if any of you have any recommendations which may help me? I will be looking at top end $650 pw, (2 bed+ ideally) - gym added bonus!! Other areas which look ok are Pyrmont, Surry hills, but i'm open to ideas as I would be guessing!! Any help is much appreciated. Thanks, Bev.
  16. I actually can't stand cricket and they don't believe me that I don't like it . Yet they continually avoid the question when I bring up "soccer"
  17. So the flights are finally sorted and I head over on the 4th January!! I feel so unorganised!! I've been given a nice friendly welcome from my new employers who are absolutely hammering me about the cricket already...
  18. Zoopla.co.uk may help you with valuations of similar houses which were sold on the street in 1999? worth a look at least.
  19. Hi guys just to keep you all in the loop I accepted the job offer. Ridiculously excited and ridiculously scared at the same time!!
  20. Thanks for the help all, I think i'll accept the job then as it seems I will be financially secure on that salary!!
  21. FYI currently in the North of England.
  22. Hi all, please excuse me if this isn't the right sub forum to post in. First things first, I've been fortunate to be offered a great opportunity to progress my career in Sydney. My potential employers have offered to sponsor me on a s.457 visa and help with getting over / finding work for my girlfriend. They have also offered to pay for my flights. My place of work would be situated in the Olympic Park and I would be on $80k pa (before tax)+ super. I'm just a bit apprehensive about the cost of living, I don't want to move to such an amazing city and not be able to do much whilst there! Would this salary be suffice bearing in mind I'm a typical 27yr old who likes to make the most of life out and about. Ideally I would be wanting to live in Coogee / Paddington (just from looking about) however would this cause a troublesome commute via buses/trains? (Would $650 rent be too much and affect my cost of living massively?!) Also a few people I have spoken to mentioned LAFHA , but apparently this "loophole" may have been closed now?!? So if anyone could shed any light on this it would be much appreciated. I'm 90% there in being ready to accept the role, but still have those few niggling questions I would like clearing up. Any help would be much appreciated!! :notworthy: Bevan.
