  1. Hi, my visa application was received on 23 July and I have just been offered a job commencing on 17 Feb subject to my visa being granted in time. I know that the official guidance states 8 or 9 months waiting time but from this thread it looks as though it is currently taking an average of 7 months in which case I'm hoping my visa might possibly just scrape through in time in order to avoid my job offer falling through. Has anyone else been in this situation? I'm pretty sure I'll lose the job offer if I can't start on 17 th. Rather depressing. I'm currently in the UK with our toddler while my husband is working in Aus - he had to move after being unable to find work in the UK for 2 years (a tough time) so now I'm worried that the same thing might happen to me in reverse if my job offer falls through. Has anyone found speaking to their case officer to be helpful in these circumstances. Extremely grateful for any tips.
  2. Thanks very much Snifter and Happy Little Vegemite for your very helpful answers to my earlier post. This is such a nice and helpful forum! Spoke to Australia house today and they said they received a high number of Partner Visa applications in July which is why it is taking a little longer than usual to assign me a case officer - just thought I'd share this in case any other July applicants are in the same boat and were worried about the radio silence after submitting their application. Congrats on your news Sims101 and good luck to all those hoping to hear news soon!
  3. Thanks Snifter - that's reassuring to know. Congrats to you on your good news!
  4. Hi there. I'm new to this forum. Thanks for all the really helpful info on visa processing times. My husband is an Australian citizen, we live in the UK and have been married for over 3 years and have a toddler together (toddler has citizenship by descent and so we're in the process of getting an Oz passport for him). My husband has been offered a job in Australia with a start date in Nov 13. All happened very fast, so exciting but daunting at the same time. I applied for a partner visa a couple of weeks ago. The fees were taken from my account around 24 July but I haven't yet received any kind of acknowledgement of my application or had notification of a case officer having been assigned. From the info on this thread it looks as though most people get a CO assigned within a couple of days of receipt of their application. Is that right and should I be worried that I've received no contact yet? Have any other applicants had the same experience ? Also, from what I've read on the forum it looks like I'm going to have to enter Oz on a tourist visa while I wait 8 or 9 months for processing - is that right? I also submitted my police checks with my application as wasn't aware that it's usually recommended to wait until CO instructs you to submit them. Is that likely to be a problem with current waiting times? Very grateful for any thoughts or comments!
