1. Ha ha no worries. ahhh fingers crossed. We were hopeful that we would get an invite this month as there seemed to be a huge amount to come out, but nothing Then again I havent seen the usual forum activity regarding people getting EOIs this month, theres been a couple but nowhere near as many as usual- so not sure whats going on...
2. We've done it all ourselves so far and can vouch for the fact that skills assessment was by far the most painful bit to complete, so if you've done that, i wouldnt worry about getting an agent now. This forum is great for those tricky questions and some reassurance!!
3. Ha ha you confused the heck out of me!
4. Thanks, we've just updated our EOI and its worked out 70 points now. Fingers crossed!
5. What are you on about?!?!

Qualifications Doctorate from an Australian educational institution or other doctorate of a recognised standard 20

At least a bachelor degree from an Australian educational institution or other degree of a recognised standard 15

Diploma or trade qualification completed in Australia 10

An award or qualification recognised by the assessing authority in the assessment of the skilled occupation 10

Award or qualification recognised by assessing authority gives you 10!!
6. Sorry if this has been posted before!! We lodged our EOI in June with 60 points which are made up as follows: Age 25 - 32 30 English Language Ability Superior 20 Years of experience in aNominated Occupation- overseas within thelast 10 years. Equal to or greater than 5 Years and less than 10 years. 8 Years 10 TOTAL 60 We're a bit confused whether we can claim another 10 points for Qualifications?! This is how its stated on the immi website:

An award or qualification recognised by the assessing authority in the assessment of the skilled occupation 10

Now when my other half did his skills assessment, Vetasses awarded him a MEM30205 Certificate III in Engineering- Mechanical Trade. It says it is recognised withing the Australian Qualifications Framework. This was as a result of submitting evidence that he has: NVQ 3 in electricity system technology engineering City & Guilds 3 in Electrical Technology Engineering NVQ 2 in Performing Engineering Operations NEBOSH Certificate in occupational health and safety Can anyone advise if this would qualify for those 10 points?! Thanks!!!
7. Roll on 6th of July at least it's not too far away! And there seems to be lots of invitations allocated for that date!! Fingers crossed!!!
8. Heya well done!! Do you mind me asking how many pointa you lodged. We did ours on monday with 60 and nothing yet
9. ha ha EOI for 189... Really hoping to get the June invite!
10. Oh my word, that's so quick, congrats!!! We're lodging ours for 189 visa tonight, so excited!!!
11. Thanks, We're certain we're not claiming any more points than we should be, it seems quite the opposite. Everything we have put down we have proof for so I think it may be a fingers crossed situation. We've got this far without an agent, which has felt very rewarding- difficult no doubt but certainly worth it!
12. Bungo we tried that but that didnt change it. It also says for current employment to leave end date blank so in fear or being accused to lie about it we changed it back!! Desperately want to get this submitted in hope for invitation being sent out on the 19th of June.
13. Ha ha thanks, just want to make sure we've done it right as we're getting a different outcome to that on EOI. Dont want them to turn around and say we've mislead them or something...
14. Here's how we have the work experience... we're assuming that apprenticeship doesn't count towards points so set that as not relevant. So the relevant experience is over three but under 5 years... we tried to put todays date as date to to see if maybe leaving it blank as its current occupation therefore doesnt register it but that made no difference... 15. We ( by which i mean my better half ) did it ourselves and used Vetassess for the Fitter General, we had to fill out the online form, then Fedex all the certified stuff to Melbourne, then they got back to us saying they would like few more bits, which again had to be Fedex'd. They then sent us a letter saying we've passed the paperwork side of it and we will shortly receive the date for the technical interview, which we did. He then attended the technical interview and couple weeks letter we got a positive outcome email, followed by a letter confirming the satisfactory skills assessment with his Level III Engineering certificate from Vetasses in the post.
16. Hello, We're just trying to lodge our EOI this weekend, but we seem to be getting stuck on various points. We're going for the 189 visa. My other half is 27, has a positive skills assessment from Vetasses ( they awarded Level III Certificate in Engineering with it) , over 3 years of relevant experience and superior IELTS. Now looking at the points table on the Immi website we figured we should get the following: 30 for his age 20 for IELTS 5 for skilled relevant employment 10 for qualifications (recognised by the assessing authority) So we figure we've got 65?! However EOI is only awarding us 60 We have gone over and over it trying various things and just cant seem to make sense of it! Do we need to put his Vetasses skills assessment certificate under the Education section?! As the skills assessment in on the following page?! Can someone please tell us where we are going wrong?! Feel like we've tried it from every angle and it just doesn't come out the same!? Thanks
17. Hi Rob dc! Would love to meet you. See you did everything yourself regarding the migration- would definitely be good to have a chat as we're hoping to get every step sorted by ourselves too (maybe apart from bringing our pooch out there though- might leave that to a pet shipping company for a peace of mind)
18. Yeah I saw that on the forum and though it would have been a great opportunity, but sadly we've still got another week and a half of the beautiful British weather to "enjoy"...
19. Hi. We will be stayig in: Scarborough from 23/02 till 27/02 Mandurah 28/02 till 04/03 And then Gooseberry Hill from 05/03 till 08/03. However we have hired a car for the entire time we're out there and will be probably exploring many different areas as well as those we're staying in.
20. Hello, We are on a reccie trip in Perth from 23/02 till 08/03, spending some time in Mandurah as well. We were wondering if anyone fancies meeting up at all to have a few beers and a chat of their experience of emigrating to Perth. My boyfriend James (26) is currently putting together his skills assessment and with a bit of of luck on our side we're certain we want to move to Oz. But we would love to meet some fellow poms and hear of their experience as it's all a little mind boggling! Kristine (24)
21. Hello all, First of all would like to say how awesome is this forum, it has already answered so many of our questions regarding visas and migration. Thumbs up! We're a fairly young couple from Felixstowe, UK - hoping to move to Oz. We went on a recce holiday to Oz and Nz in Nov 2012, and after spending 6 amazing weeks out there we're now 100% sure it's the place to be. My partner James(25) works as an electrical craftsman here in UK and would come under a Electrician (Special Class) on the skills list, therefore he would be the main applicant and I'm hoping to go out there as a partner on his visa. Ideally we want to get the 189 visa, however assuming we get superior results in his English test to get the extra points, we're just scraping away with 60 points, therefore we have also been considering a 190 Visa and here's where I get the first question. For the 190 visa does your skill needs to be on state skills list, because after having a closer look I can find the Electrician (General) but not the special class one. Would it still be worth selecting states for 190 visa when placing EOI? I (23) on the other hand haven't got a skill they need, hence hoping to go out there on James visa, so far so good, but...He has British passport as he's been here all his life, however mine is Latvian as I only moved here in 2005. Would it affect our visa in any way? We've been together for over 4 years and have plenty of proof and stuff. Also my passport expires September, 2013, would it be better to renew it before applying for a visa? Also James has to do a TRA skills assessment, I gather these don't expire so technically he could do it now, but can anyone confirm that I got it right? And finally I seem to get really confused about the medicals. Do you have to do any before lodging your visa or do you just wait till they ask you to do it? Overall we're rather excited about it all, but want to get it right first time round. Oh and we also have a 5 year old Schnauzer cross who would most likely be coming to Oz with us
