  1. Hi Katy, You need a Degree in order to comply with AHPRA's requirements to register so you will need to do some sort of top up. There is also new requlations with them that you have to meet further requirements of completing 10 caseloading continuity of care experiences which is not included in UK training. Therefore UK trained Midwive's are having to come over on supervised practice. At the minute you won't meet AHPRA's requirements to register as a Midwife so your best bet is to top up to Degree first. Hope this helps x
  2. We shipped our dog bed which was used. We just made sure it was washed and free of dog hair. Hope this helps :cute:
  3. We got ours this morning! We applied 16th Oct. Got a CO 10th December asking for PCC's. Uploaded last night. I uploaded and emailed to the CO so don't know if that made a difference
  4. We got assigned a CO today. Requested national police checks. Hadn't realised I'd only applied for state checks!
  5. lilann, Snaik is quite correct. I too did the same as you, booked chest x-ray, HIV bloods and general medical. However when I got there, she asked me my occupation and advised that I also had to have the Hep B and C bloods done also. I did not get this free and had to pay an extra charge of $99 on the day. It was also required for my 457 visa previously.
  6. We're October 189 applicant-ees!! Good luck everyone! :-)
  7. If your husband has a British passport, this is all he needs
  8. Hi guys, I wonder if anyone can help? I'm currently in Australia on a sponsored 457 visa. My employer has kindly offered to sponsor me for my PR on the visa 186 under Employer Nomination Scheme. I am a nurse and midwife. I have 12 months nursing experience from the UK and 28 months of midwifery. I need to do my ANMAC for skills assessment for the above visa which is NOT a points based visa. As I am not looking to gain extra points, as I read it, I don't require professional references and I wouldn't have one anyway as they require at least 36 months international experience and I only have 28 or 12 months Australian, of which I only have 3. I am applying to ANMAC under Midwife 254111 where I have the majority of experience. I was just wondering when I come to apply for my visa, it asks for 3 years experience. Can I include my Australian experience in this and can I also claim my nursing as it's a similar occupation to get my 3 years? Hope this makes sense and TIA Sho
  9. Hi there, You may all think I'm mad but just thought I'd throw it out there anyway. We arrived in Perth last month and our 2 Chihuahua's have been in quarantine in Sydney. They are due out in only 2 sleeps and cannot wait to see them when they are flown over. My husband was talking to a work colleague today who said he left his dog behind in the UK as he heard that those who had gone over had changed in their personalities/temperament when released. I just wondered if anyone had any experience of what their dogs were like once they came home after being separated for 30 days? Thanks all x
  10. Sorry for late reply Smitty. I'm in nursing and midwifery so not sure if those occupations are more in demand and that's why? What do u do? We're off to Perth in 11 days now!! How's your visa coming along? I'm sure it's probably been granted by now! x
  11. We're using PetAir for our 2 Chihuahua's to go to Oz next month. So far they have been great. We have done some things ourselves and paid Pet Air to do other things like flights and permits which saved us quite a bit. I do agree with what Bob has said with regards to getting them to do it all if you're not in the country as there's quite a bit of organising and red tape which can be stressful and can imagine it would be more so if you're not here. Good luck
  12. I am in a very similar situation with my mother-in-law. I love her to pieces, we all do but has not took the news well at all. We first told her in February when we decided we were going to do it. At first she was in denial as it's something we have talked about a few times over the years. Then things started moving along and it became more real. She has only just started to accept it now after 8 months when our visas are through and the flights are booked. But up until now she's wouldn't speak about it and would cry at every mention, particularly in front of the children when we weren't there which did infuriate me. I believe she has now come to the realisation that this was wrong and tries her utmost best not to do it now although sometimes she has tears in her eyes. It's hard and frustrating to see it happening especially where the kids are involved but as people have mentioned it's just sometime how others cope with the hurt and pain of it all. They will come round because they have to accept it. Don't feel alone x
  13. I never considered that as I'd heard they're not really interested until you arrive. Might give it a go. Thanks. That's our plan too if we like it and know we want to settle. He works in construction as a ceiling fixer. He's already got some contacts lined up so hoping his work will be fine too but need to get kids sorted first so we can organise childcare to fit in with it all. How about your hubby? It appears we have taken over this thread! haha
  14. We have a daughter who is almost 10 and a son who is 5 so they'll both be in full time school. Hoping to get them in for the new term in Feb. It's probably one of my main worries to be honest! Just want to get them in and settled, a bit of normality! I'm sure you feel the same x
  15. Haha that's exactly what I tell mine! And myself! There again life is one big adventure. It's for living and what's life without risk? You only get one chance! If it doesn't work out we can always come back :cute: x
  16. Nervous is a very polite word for how I'm feeling! No we've never been before. I don't know if we're brave or stupid! Only one way to find out!.............
  17. Not far at all! Congrats on the job. I'm guessing you're a practice nurse?! I'm a nurse and a midwife. I've got a job in Perth to start in Jan. Excited but very nervous! It's coming around very quickly! It's a lot of preparation isn't it?! x
  18. That's what we thought! Hehe! Yea we live in Teesside, about an hour south of Newcastle. Yourself? If you're looking at Jan then prices should be fine. Like you say, just keep a watchful eye. We've still not decided how we going to Heathrow yet. I know a train from where we live runs directly there however we have 2 dogs we need to drop at Pet Air so depends on that too I guess. Good look with your visa and look forward to your update when it's through! Do you have a job already? x
  19. It's printed on my ticket 30kg checked baggage. We are economy too. Maybe they haven't updated their website yet. Or... maybe I've been extremely lucky
  20. We fly monday 9th December. I've had a quick peek since and prices have started to creep since we booked. It is cheaper than Northern airports, probably because of the distance and is quite a treck for us. But at least I won't have the mother in law inconsolable in the airport! You planning to fly before or after xmas? x
  21. I booked my flights over the weekend with Singapore £2404 for family of 4 Heathrow to Perth with one stop to Singapore. They must have increased their baggage allowance to Oz as we've been given 30kg each on a 457 visa.
  22. Mine never went to processing further. It went from "medicals received and finalised" to being granted. I'm sure it won't be long. Good luck
  23. Hi all, Just though I'd restore all faith in the 457 processing times. My visa was lodged in September and has just been granted today - a total of 3 weeks and 6 days! Cannot believe it!
  24. I had my medical done at Bridgewater in Manchester including bloods and chest x-ray. Tests were processed that evening and results uploaded onto the system the next day. They also said if I didn't hear anything within 48 hours, everything was normal. 1st class service!
  25. We bought our second UK house from a guy who had moved to Canada. Never met the guy and he never came back during the sale process. All went smoothly to plan and quite quickly as there was obviously no chain.
