  1. That's a tough ask with out major strain on your relationship, has your partner worked away before? Working away in the middle of nowhere is not the best but acceptable (with earning decent $$$) however during his 6 days off this can possibly become a lonely time, yes he will be in perth oz in the glorious sunshine etc but knowing he won't be seeing family then he has another 8 days to look forward to at the mine. And like other people have said Ok he will be making decent money but after he has payed accommodation and food/bills etc for the 6 days off and transferred cash back to the uk with the not so good exchange rate the. Spending more on flights over. To see him for the 6 days max in which he has off (going through the mental stress again on leaving to head back to the uk) is it really worth it ? I worked a 2/3 rota in the uk (weeks) which I done for over 2 years we then emigrated to oz and I commuted back once thinking I could do it no probs as I was use to it however after that one trip back I handed in my notice. The distance was to far Regardless of the money that was getting made family and spending time together was more important there are plenty of other jobs around :-) Good luck in your choice but that is a big ask also remember he could be working in 40 + degree heat every day
  2. 1720 this evening. Visa granted. 12 weeks and 1 day later. Lodged. 23/7/14. :-)
  3. Hi marsh942. When did u sit your ileitis exam? Where are you thinking of going? For example at present coming to perth. The whole of perth is classed as regional so you can live anywhere Aswell as work anywhere, ( this changes a lot) I'm a carpenter and done my practical exam through vet asses. As far a s I know they no longer do the carpentry and joinery as 2 separate tests its combined. And now you just do it as 1.
  4. Hi all me and my family are currently in wa on a 489 visa, however while on this visa can I apply for a 190 visa? TIA.
  5. Hi all, I have emigrated over to Mandurah in WA. On a 489 regional visa, and in order to apply for an 887 pr. Visa. I understand I need to work regional for 1 year as well as live for 2 years, my question is can I work for an employer out with a regional area , even tho the work I carry out in regional? Or can I work for a regional employer but still carry out work in non regional areas? Plus if I am self employed (carpenter) working purely for myself can I only work regional ? And to get proof of me working regional for 1 year what type of evidence is DIAC looking for ? Sorry for all the question but I'm a bit confused with all this. , thanks in advance ps we have been here 6 weeks and loving it
  6. Hi all, Me and my family recently emigrated over on a 489 regional visa (carpenter) the 2 important stipulations are 1 living in regional area for at least 2 years of the 4 . 2. Working at least 1 year in regional area (in nominated trade) in order to apply for pr 887 visa. My question is the year in which you need to work regional , can this be accumulated over 2-3 years for example in the first year work at least 6 months then maybe in year 2/3 do another 6 months? Or has it to be 1 year continuously ? Also we were told we need to comply with certain conditions , I take it we need to get in touch with DIAC and keep them up to date with address and jobs etc ? TIA.
  7. . Hi no1mum, I may not be 100% correct but I was in the driving license centre last week in oz (we recently emigrated and were getting our oz license) and I'm sure I read in the booklet that if you are under 25 then you need to take an oz driving test. Don't hold me to that but I'm fairly certain I did read that statement . Good luck on your move to oz
  8. Hi Serpentine, Ok gather as much info as you can, bank statements, payslips etc then if you cant get a refference from the manager then you must complete a statutory decleration listing everything about that job, you roles, the time you worked there etc and get it signed by solicitor or other personnel ( on the list) you may need to look online for this, but i got a wpc to do mine and also put down there contact detail.
  9. would i have the time to fill in the form , submit it and have the details onto my new passport by aug 26th?
  10. EOI can take any time up to 2 years...... i would say highly unlikely but that was the advice i was given on submitting mine in jan fingers crossed for you
  11. Hi lebourvellec, that may be the best option as they did send my old one back , the thing is id does not run out untill july next year but i plan travelling back for a wedding here in the uk in may, which at that point has not got 6 months left (as travelling through dubai) i take it by travelling with the two wont cause any problems? and by completing a 929 does this take a while to fully process? thanks again.

  21. work in scotland is not the best, it is getting better but ive now been offshore for 2 years, ( with a sparky from essex who is bonkers ha ha) really good job here but now we have recieved the visa i think its time to take the plunge and go for it, i have a few mates out there as carpenters and they have all said , there is plenty of work they got jobs with in a week or 2 of being there and this was at the start of this year.
  22. Hi surfandsea, we are moving from scotland to mandurah ive nothing set in stone yet no, are you busy enough and where are you located yourself?
  23. Hi All we are due to depart scotland in august for our new lives down under, i am a carpenter to trade and am getting together a list of tools in which i should be taking, which is my basic hand tools, and roughing/finishing nail guns i have got a cordless planer would this be worth bringing? (bosch) as for chop/table saws i was advised a while back to just sell them on due to the way these are wired or something would this be correct? however my main question was do carpenters use paslode nail guns in oz? the reason i ask this is if they tend to use other makes then this maybe because it is more difficult for paslode parts if these things ever required repairs. also what is the best things to clean these down? also do they want the inside of these cleaned out also. thanks in advance ps what are the cost for tools over in oz ? are they roughly the same as here in the uk?
