  1. Hi, we have just brought our clan of 5 over! Worth every penny! They are all happier than ever, and very chilled... We used pet transfur, incredibly helpful and organised. Cheaper than other companies too. Happy to chat to you if you have questions
  2. Hi, does anyone have any experience of Pittwater house school? Or recommendations for schools in that area? Many thanks natasha
  3. Hi, quick and little question, can I 'bomb' the house having indoor cats, or will the chemicals cause them problems? Thanks Natasha
  4. Hi, do you have any news on this programme? thanks natasha
  5. Hi! just a quick question, I am thinking of taking my mini with me when we emigrate next year, do u need to have the dashboard changed from mph to Kmh here in England before transporting or in aus? Any ideas or thoughts would be greatly appreciated.. Thanks natasha
  6. the bbc are very much left wing, and to be honest do not raise all the issues that are going on in the UK, it is great for many things though. These are a few things that worry us.... Most people cannot find jobs after leaving university, and many are working for free as interns to get the chance of a job... The uk government pays child benefit to children not living in this country, and is unable to stop this ( the government lawyers have tried to stop it, but according to the evening standard they cant), anyone earning over 40k ( i think) cannot claim full child benefit... taxable income has gone up considerably, we live in a lovely part of surrey and yet we do have beggars on our trains, even though the police and train guard try to stop this... yes it is the british way to make the best of everything, but the culture shock we had on our arrival has made us realise that england doesnt feel like the great country it used to be... the high streets shops are closing down- we all shop online, and life is changing a great deal here... we cant let our daughter out to play alone, something we look forward to doing when we get to aus, and believe me there is a sense of doom and gloom around lots of people when you discuss how things are, but we are always hopeful that things will sort themselves out... I would have loved the uk to be the place to raise our daughter and give her opportunities, but times have changed and we are a much poorer country than we used to be.. I wish anyone who has chosen to return to the uk good luck, its never easy changing countries, and for some england really is home...
  7. We have lived in Cape Town, and have our visas for oz.. Our return from cape town has been a real shock. Crime, tax, hoodie culture, max influx of immigrants, begging on trains, just the beginning. We see no future in the uk, it feels pretty screwed at the moment. And economists reckon at least 10 years of austerity. Good luck if u come home. We can't wait to get away!!
  8. Hi, my husband has a final salary pension, which he really is unhappy about leaving. At the moment it would stop, and he would need to top it up on arrival to aus. He thinks that if he stays in the same company (the pension isn't transferable), that they pay 12% into the superannuation and he thinks he will need to pay around a third of his salary into a pension to maintain the same level of income... do u have any idea, what he really needs to input into a new pension, he currently earns around 90k GBp and expects to earn around 220k aud... please can you give me some ideas to tempt him to leave his uk final salary pension? his current uk pension is non contributory... any help and ideas gratefully received natasha
  9. My cats are all indoor, they have no road sense and I couldn't bear the thought of them being hit by a car.. They have a pen that we built when we extended the house.... thanks for heads up re max amount etc. am not a crazy cat lady, three are feral rescues that I caught and tamed, one is from a rescue centre, but was in terrible condition when I got him and my daughters cat is an ex breeding queen... i seem to get the waif and strays... enjoy your fluffies
  10. Going off at a bit of a tangent, but maybe u may be able to help.... my husband has a final salary uk pension, which he has had for over 20 years. Even if he stays at the company when we get to oz, the company have said that the pension cannot be put into the local company pension? My hubby is unhappy about leaving this, and thinks he will need to contribute 30% of his aus salary into a pension to maintain this.. do u have any ideas about this? At the moment his uk pension worth 38k Gbp, but if we stayed in uk and he stayed at the same company at 60 he would have minimum 60kgbp... help! He is 42 at mmoment any ideas and thoughts would be great Many thanks natasha
  11. YI am bringing five cats out with me from the UK. Four of them are rescues that I picked up in Cape Town, one from uk is an ex breeding queen. I will be visiting the RSPCA to go back up to six. I lost one of my South African cats to heart and kidney failure last year.... is there a limit to how many you have? Someone told me you can only have four cats?
  12. This would be absolutely brilliant if the quarantine is to go down! I have 5 ( yes a bit crazy, but 4 are rescues that I brought from south africa to uk and quarantined for 6 months) and would bring them to oz ( they are family and to be honest, they hate the cold) the cost is more for the one month in quarantine than the 6 months that they did from cape town to uk... Please can someone stick a note on when / if this is really going to happen!!!!!!!!!! I love my babies and not looking forward to not having them around again...
  13. Hi, anyone in Melbourne? how often are do you use the tumble drier? In Surrey I use most days winter and summer, and now as the snow arrives and with a tumble drier of wet towels, it gives up!! It keeps tripping off the electricity, and so now it is decision time! Help! x natasha
  14. Thanks so much guys, we are unsure if we will end up in Perth or Melbourne- job dependant, but Melbourne would be our first choice after reccy visit last March... Its a hard decision to make... Think will see how much to repair tumble drier, if silly money, will replace...As for the washing machine, have no idea about transportation bolts, the nice man from John Lewis just installed it? And JoandJon, best manual I had for my daughter was deep breaths, counting breaths on bad days, chocolate and enjoy every minute, they grow up so quickly!!!!!!!!!!! Enjoy her x
  15. Does anyone have any experience of moving white goods? We are planning on moving out next year, and the washing machine and tumble drier are not sounding good. I am unsure whether to fix the tumble drier or to buy a good miele one and and make a saving in the long term? And do washing machines move well, as my hotpoint spinner is not happy either... Any thoughts and ideas most welcome Cheers Natasha
