  1. All very interesting, thanks everyone for your responses. I did find the rental prices around Armadale cheap, which given what people have said, makes sense. Strangely enough, this doesn't put me off too much, mainly as I'm staying with friends who've lived there for years and will only be there until I can secure another suburb to live in.They live in Bedfordale, just on the edge of Armadale. With a few shopping centres, it sounds liveable enough for a month or two, and a good Chinese is never a bad thing ;-)
  2. Hi guys. When I first move out to Oz, I'll be staying with friends who live in Armadale before I can find work and a rental elsewhere in Perth. I've had a look through the forum, but there doesn't seem to be much mention of Armadale. Trying to find out what I should be expecting when I get there. I've done a bit of research on the area, I believe it is to be one of Perth's 'hubs', so should be fairly well connected and good shops etc. I don't drive, neither does my Husband. I've seen there's rail into Perth CBD, anyone know how reliable/clean etc this is? Also is it easy to get around Armadale on foot? Also what are the shops like and what's the general feel of the area, any special sites of interest or attractions? Also, I'm a nurse, and have seen jobs at Armadale Hospital, seems fairly decent, but can never tell for sure off websites. Anyone heard anything about it, is it a good place to work/be treated/good reputation? Any info would be good, just gives me more of an idea of what to expect. I'm getting really excited to get out to Oz, the more I can find out, the more excited I am :-)
  3. Welcome to PIO. I'm sure you'll find some useful info on here to help you with getting your visa, I know I did. Good luck!
  4. That's true, I went to Brighton magistrates, cost £25 but they were rude and did it wrong, so i used solicitors after that and found it a much nicer experience. TBH it was probably just Brighton Magistrates court who were rude and badly organised, others are probably fine.
  5. For ANMAC I used normal solicitors and had no problem. However for AHPRA, they require a notary public or some other type of correct person to certify the docs, so it may be easier just to get a notary public to sign everything anyway. Notary publics tend to charge around £80 a document, and then more for multiple documents...so get quotes and shop around, some are much more expensive than others. Hope this helps :-)
  6. I'm waiting for my police certificate to come back (got email to say they received the application form on 25th Oct), and for a letter from the tax dept to be delivered. Other than that, everything is uploaded and ready. Every day I'm jumping on the post as soon as it comes through the door. This wait is really frustrating. Probably worse as I moved from Brighton to Cheshire 5 weeks ago, got a temp nursing job the day after I moved here, but still can't start because HR are waiting for references. All I'm doing all day is researching Australia stuff. But nearly November, this should be the month for us *fingers crossed!*
  7. Thank-you! Logged on, and it just had my details, nothing saying the status of the medicals...so i take it this means they haven't cleared yet? I'm confused! When I log in on the DIAC website, it has said "No health examinations are required for this person for this visa subclass based on the information provided to the Department of Immigration and Citizenship." since a week after we had the medicals. I had thought this meant the medicals had been cleared, maybe I was wrong.
  8. Had my medicals on 2nd October. How do I know when my medicals have been cleared?
  9. Visit the Manchester Xmas markets for the last time. Go walking in the Peak District Visit Edinburgh and Cardiff
  10. Difference being nurses are comparatively paid more and unsocial hours are paid more fairly.
  11. As a nurse, one thing that's getting me more and more fed up, is that the NHS are supporting nurses less and less. The registration fee for NMC each year has now raised to £100, it used to be around £70 only a year ago. The NHS used to pay for employment police checks, they now make the employee pay for it. Nurses will have to pay for their own indemnity insurance (again used to be paid for by the employer), not to mention a pay freeze, technically meaning a pay cut each year when you take into account inflation. It's no wonder so many nurses are emigrating!
  12. Hahah have fun trying to keep control then! https://www.ecom.immi.gov.au/elp/app?login that's what I've been using. If not, I just go on the home page, then 'check progress of online lodged application' then 'log in to eVisa' under teh buisness and innovation heading, which loads the log-in page...strange.
  13. It's frustrating isn't it?! I am sending off all my docs Tuesday morning after the NP signs them. AHPRA gave me a deadline in November too, so I'm very much hoping that the upcoming postal strike doesn't affect the docs getting back to them in time! Good luck with your medicals. Have you already sent off for the police checks?
  14. Lets hope our grants come quickly! For the signature, go on Settings, then Edit Signature on the left hand side
  15. Thought I'd update here and see where everyone else is up to. I submitted the visa on 21st September, had the health checks on the 2nd October and am sending off form for police check tomorrow. No CO yet, but I believe that people who submitted their visas in August are starting to get CO's and grants now, so I'm keeping everything crossed that so long as I get all the documents uploaded (which I've almost done) the grant should come quickly after the CO. I'm not sure whether the Health checks went through okay, a week after I had the health checks, the e-lodgement page changed to say "no need for health checks for this applicant" for both me and my Husband. I'm presuming the health checks have been cleared??? Applied to AHPRA on 15th October. They got in touch today to say the payment didn't go through (I'm presuming because I used a debit, not credit card, so my bad). They also said they need me to re-send all the documents that had to be certified, as they aren't happy with the person who certified them. I used a solicitor, this was fine with ANMAC...apparently not for AHPRA, so I'm seeing a notary public on Monday and re-sending all the docs again. (Another £100 to add to all the other expenses!) :-( But once I've ironed out these few bumps, everything should be okay. One more query, I'm confused about form 80. It's not requested on the check-list for the documents needed for 189 visas, but I've noticed that some people have been asked to submit it, so me and husband have filled a form 80 out each anyway. I'm dying to get to Australia for Christmas to spend it with the family we'll be staying with in Perth, but realistically I think it'll be January. Anyone else expecting to be moving out around that time? How is everyone else getting along?

    Hi

Welcome to the forum! Hope you find it as useful as I have :-)
  17. Applied to AHPRA a week ago, not heard anything yet, but I've seen people on here waiting 2-4 weeks, so hopefully not long left. Has anyone tried applying for jobs before getting the AHPRA registration, or is it just easier to wait till I have it?
  18. Congrats! I applied to AHPRA (Brisbane office) about a week ago, so hopefully I'll hear back soon too. ANMAC took just under 16 weeks for me...loooong wait!
  19. About 12-16 weeks from initial asessment to completion of assessment. Good luck! While you're waiting, get all the documents together for the visa application, then once the assessment is done, you'll be ready to apply for the visa.
  20. I've submitted my visa application. Am awaiting a CO to be assigned, and need to get PCC/Health checks. I'm just wondering, about a question on the eHealth section on the DIAC website. It asks whether 'you've ever been in contact with a person known to have tb'. Now as a nurse, obviously I've been in contact with people with tb, so i was going to answer that question with 'yes'. Have other people filled the question in that way, or am i interpreting it wrong? My Husband thought the questions more asking if you've had long term exposure to tb, which I haven't... Any advice?
  21. Got my invite the day afrer submitting the EOI, I had 70 points. Think if you have 80, they should invite you very quickly too. Good luck!
  22. Hi tinaisrar, hope you get your anmac assessment completed soon, I'm sure it will be any day now, as you applied only a few weeks after me. Good luck! Oooh and to save yourself time when you do get the skills assessment, make scans of your documents so that when you lodge the visa, youre ready to upload everything.
  23. Lodged EOI on 14th and got invited on the 15th, applied today (20th) for 189 visa. I had 70 points. I'm a nurse, moving out to Perth at first. Does anyone know how long it's taking for case officers to be assigned at the moment?
  24. Another email today to say assessment now completed (so only 24 hours with 2nd assessor). I've requested an electronic copy be emailed to me (if they can do that) Hopefully I would be able to use that for AHPRA/DIAC....if not will have to wait for the hard copy. Spent today trying to get my AHPRA CV done.
  25. Yay, finally, skills assessment has gone to 2nd assessor :-) According to the email, ill now have to wait about 10 days and then they'll send out LOD. Going to sort out stuff for AHPA now, as im still slightly uncertain about what they really want. Hows everyone else getting on?
