  1. Hi Anish Thanks for your reply. I thought the same, but given that the agent's reputation I was worried that even though it has been declared as an experience, while in the application process they might neglect that. Now i think it is not the case. In your scenario it is clear that they also consider Application Engineer as a specialization of Software Engineering. It is stated in the below link. https://www.acacia-au.com/anzsco/261313.php and as far as the service letter covers the tasks and responsibilities defined in following link I don't think there would be any issues. http://www.abs.gov.au/ausstats/abs@.nsf/Product+Lookup/1220.0~2006~Chapter~UNIT+GROUP+2613+Software+and+Applications+Programmers However for your second scenario, Cant you ask for a service letter ? I mean every company should legally obligated to provide a service letter based on the employee request at anytime and the reason should not be an issue for them. It should be just a service letter covering duties and responsibilities and it shouldn't be a big deal for the HR to provide you a one. Find a way to get it done from the company as it is the most easiest way to get it. Anyway if you don't want to disclose that you are planning to migrate for obvious reasons simply ask them to provide a service letter for a masters or a phd program that you have intended to do. hope this will help you

    Ielts

I have done IELTS once, and my overall score is 7.5 , writing 8.5,listening 8, reading and speaking 6.5. Unfortunately i have to do it again. As per my understanding there is no short path to IELTS as it is a language test despite any other type of exam. Give yourself enough of time to prepare yourself. Maximize your language inputs, read and listen as much as possible. That will help you to improve your familiarity with the language. You can practice by translating audio clips and that will help you to improve your concentration skills for listening module. Apart from that all I can say is, understand your weak areas and focused on them systematically. Usually many people lose marks due to spelling errors in listening module and that is nothing to do with your listening skills. BTW these difficult worlds get repeated so whenever you have done a mistake write it down. Good Luck

    Hi

Thank you I am from Colombo, Western Province. Indeed its a great place to have a holiday. Beautiful beaches are everywhere ... but unfortunately the economy is not doing any good at all and, politicians are not doing anything for that.

  7. I did my skill assessment last year for SOI Software Engineer (ANZSCO Code 261313) from ACS and in the assessment it is described as follows. Your skills have been assessed to be suitable for migration under 261313 (Software Engineer) of theANZSCO Code.Your qualifications have been assessed as follows:Your Masters of Science from University of XXX completed October 2009 has beenassessed as comparable to an AQF Master Degree with a major in computingYour British Computer Society Professional Exam from British Computer Society completed April2006 has been assessed as comparable to an AQF Bachelor Degree with a major in computingYour work experience has been calculated as follows on the basis of full time employment of at least 20hrsper week:Dates:01/07 - 03/10 (3yrs 2mths)Position:Senior Software EngineerEmployer:AAA CorporationCountry: SRI LANKADates:03/10 - 04/12 (2yrs 1mths)Position:Technical LeadEmployer:BBB IncCountry: SRI LANKAPlease note that the Department of Immigration and Citizenship reserves the right to undertake further investigationregarding your skilled employment experience. While the ACS is authorised to assess ICT skills assessments, the final decision in awarding points remains withthe Department of Immigration and Citizenship. However when i speak to one migration agent, he told me that I can only claim points for Overseas employment because my last two years has been considered as a Technical Lead but not as a Software Engineer. Anyway for further clarification when I checked with some other migration agent he said that I can claim the 10 points given for 5 years of experience with out hassle, because my assessment is done for Software Engineering (ANZSCO 261313) and they have assesses that. This is a huge dilemma for me from one hand I did the assessment with out consulting any agent and on the other hand when I checked the site I found nothing has mentioned about Technical Lead in SOL pages. https://www.acacia-au.com/anzsco/261313.php http://www.immi.gov.au/asri/occupations/s/software-engineer.htm However in Wekipedia Technical Lead is defined as follows A lead programmer is a software engineer in charge of one or more software projects. Alternative titles include Development Lead, Technical Lead, Lead Software Engineer, Software Design Engineer Lead (SDE Lead), Software Manager, or Lead Application Developer. When primarily contributing in a high-level enterprise software design role, the title Software Architect (or similar) is often used. All of these titles can have different meanings depending on the context. This is a common case in countries like SriLanka where a Software Engineer is get promoted into Tech Lead level based on his performance and it usually happens before a five years of time. Mostly a Technical Lead deals with programmers and do the analysis and design of the system and apart from coding. However despite of a Software Engineer a Technical Lead may doing a little coding as the analysis, design has more weight-age of his job responsibility. Please give me your insights as i am really worried about this. Will I be able to get 10 marks for point test ?
