  1. I understand that if you enter Australia before your PR visa expires that you only need an RRV if you need to leave the country. I have previously made two trips to Australia of 3 weeks each - one within the first 12 months to validate the visa and another later trip. If you do not have the 2 year residence requirements then how strict are they on the ties to Australia that you need to demonstrate ? Is having a job in Australia sufficient ? Also are you only likely to get a 1 year RRV ? Could someone please elaborate ?
  2. Hi Petar, How did you manage to get a 155 visa ( resident return) if you were not resident in Australia and did not have any ties to the country ? If you had only just activated the 190 visa and had not been there for 5 years , had no employment offer ( I am assuming ) then how was that possible ? Could you or someone else please explain this ? Thanks.
  3. I have sent the book off to someone so am closing off this thread. Apologies to those people that contacted me after I had sent off the book.
  4. Comprehensive IELTS book with lots of practice tests and CD up for grabs. It really helped me get the result I needed. I won't be using it again so am happy to pass it onto someone else. PM me your name address and I can post it to you. First come, first served.
  5. Managed to get into skll select and lodge. The system has corrected itself so no further action required.
  6. I am trying to apply for a visa by hitting the apply now button in skill select but am getting the following error message - 500 server error - an unexpected error has occurred at date/time - Has anyone else had this ? I started to apply a few days ago - went into the first page ( of 17) and then closed out of it without updating/savings changes. Would ths have anything to do with it ? I realise that a lot of people may be applying because of the June 28 deadline so it may be slowing up the system. Should I just wait and hope that this will resolve itself ? I would like to lodge before June 28. Can anyone help please ? Thanks in advance.
  7. Just coming back to this as have received NSW SS and have resat the IELTS test and gotten all 8s. I am in a position to lodge EOI and only need an additional 5 points for work experience so only need to claim for three years work experience. However, as this was a few years ago the supervisor that I reported to at the time has since left the company and as I am still in employment there it will be difficult to get a detailed reference. Does anyone know if DIAC will accept a statutory declaration to cover work duties / tasks if you have a general reference to cover everything else ( such as length of service, full time/permanent, salary etc) ? Also, if DIAC are going to do employment verification with a current employer will they let you know in advance ? Any help or advice on this would be much appreciated.
  8. This is somewhat off topic but hopefully someone reading this thread might be able to answer it: I am considering applying for NSW SS. I have 55 points and would need the additonal 5 points to reach the minimum 60 points required to receive an invitation. My questions are as follows: 1. Do NSW require you to have 60 points by yourself before they will consider your application for SS ? 2. I have not lodged an EOI yet as I don't have 60 points. Would NSW have an issue with me not having lodged an EOI ? Is OK to lodge an EOI after receiving SS? Any advice or help on this would be much appreciated.
  9. Can anyone help on this ? It would be much appreciated. Thanks.
  10. Thanks for the response Redroyb but I can't really tell HR that I'm planning to migrate. That's like telling them you are looking for another job whilst still in their employment. I am just wondering if anyone else out there has been through the same process ? In particular, if someone can tell me how thorough DIAC are when checking employment references ? Do they do it in all instances even if you have strong supporting documentation ? If anyone can answer these questions or any of the previous ones that I have posted then I would really appreciate it. Thanks a lot.
  11. I have gotten a positive skills assessment as a Financial Investment Adviser / Administrator ( ANZSCO 222311). Am hoping to apply for NSW SS and submit an EOI with 60 points. I have worked for my current employer for over 10 years. I got a general reference from the HR Department which confirmed length of employment and full time position etc and completed a statutory declaration in relation to work duties. The main issue is that I did most of those duties a few years back for over three years and have since moved onto another section and am doing somewhat different duties.I can evidence the whole period of my employment with payslips, P60s etc. My main questions are as follows: 1. If DIAC do a reference check are they more concerned with what I'm doing right now as opposed to in the past, even though it's in a closely related occupation and for the same employer ? 2. If I claim for 8 years experience overall on the EOI would this be seen as misleading as it could be construed that I didn't do the exact same duties for that period of time ? even though I was with the same employer/Company 3. If NSW or DIAC ring the person who signed the reference, then this person works in HR and does not know me well. They would only be able to give out general information about me and not specific details of what I do day to day. Would this be a problem? Also how likely are NSW or DIAC to contact a current employer ? Any advice, help or tips on this would be very much appreciated ! I don't want to apply if there's a risk of being declined on any of the issues above.
