  1. We were granted our 189, on the letter it states we have a year to validate our visa. This date was from our medicals on the 6/1/14 so we have to make entry to Oz by 6/1/2015. My understanding is which ever comes through first, medical or police check. After you have made entry in the first year you then have a further 4 years to make the final move if you weren't ready in the first year but you must validate by the date specified. Good luck
  2. Hi all, well we got our 189 visa, house is on the market, now need to sort the dog out. I am so confused seems the pooch is causing me more stress than all the visa process!! Where do I start, I took him for microchipping last week but apart form that I am absolutely stumped. Can anyone advise what steps to take. Thanks as always
  3. Fab news, didn't take long for us to be granted, hope yours is quick:biggrin:
  4. We have been to Birmingham at the start of our journey, it was a long journey and we stayed over night, but to perfectly honest we though it was worth it. We were able to talk to lots of companies and admittedly we weren't at the point of moving but it gave us lots of things to think about, i.e. banking and removals. It was also good just to get away and really consider the move and have time to talk!! I don't think its a lot of money to spend to go in the grand scale of things. We intend to go to another before our move, if only to talk to other couple who are planning the move and make links with them .
  5. Hi all, 189 granted today, cant believe it!!! quick question, do we all have to make entry to Oz together, does main applicant have to be present?? Can't wait:biggrin:
  6. Hi all, we have uploaded all documents required. Anyone know what the average time is for invitation? We are applying for 189. Becoming a bit obsessed checking e-mails!!!
  7. I made a silly mistake and forgot to get my husband police checked!! I e-mailed our case officer to explain we would be a little outside the 28 days, they were fine.
  8. I think you are pretty clued up!! 189 gives you the freedom to choose where you live. Benefit of 190 state sponsored is that you get 5 points extra. Not entirely sure on timescales but think 190 may be slighter quicker, but saying that our application has been relatively short.
  9. Hi all, we had medicals on Monday, everything fine. Just wondering on DIBP, health requirement sill says 'required', when does this change to 'received'?? Thanks, J
  10. fab picture!!! good luck with the move.
  11. I probably sound really silly but what acronym is MOC, thanks, J
  12. Medicals tomorrow. I feel really nervous, not sure why!! has anyone been to Manchester hospital ?, what can we expect? Thanks, J
  13. look at our timeline, medical tomorrow in Manchester.
  14. We haven't used an agent purely due to lack of funds, there has been a lot of research (this site has been invaluable, keep posting, you will get replies) and a few mistakes made along the way and in all honesty if we could afford to we would have used an agent (and we have a straight forward application, 2 kids, same parents, no medical issues etc). But saying that we are near the end, its not easy, but the emotional stress is more than any financial cost! just stick together and be aware of all the hidden costs, i.e. medicals. Good luck, Jx
  15. Defo 189, gives you the opportunity to look everywhere for employment. We went to lots of expos and there is a big push for 457, but these aren't wise in my opinion for families with children as you have to pay for schooling (unless of course you can afford to).
  16. Check your points first, if you are eligible for 190 could you also be eligible for 189 with 5 more points (which gives you the option to move anywhere)?? I suggest getting your skills assessment first to make sure you meet the same criteria required in oz. Use this forum regularly, it has really helped us.
  17. we named them very simply, birth cert, passport etc. Keep it simple I suggest.
  18. OMG, case officer allocated today:biggrin::biggrin::biggrin::biggrin::biggrin:

    EOI

I am very far removed from your career but our EOI was really quick, look at our timeline. Good luck.
  20. Things have changed on the 6 Dec. I had to open an immiaccount with my passport number, TRN number and DOB. Once registered my application was there.

    EOI

Look at our time line, really quick.
  22. I questioned why certified, apparently it proves authenticity. We went to a local solicitor who charged £20 for around 8 certificates.
