  1. Just thought I would jump in here and let others know that my partner applied on 31/07/12, case officer (AB) appointed 02/08/12 and was told 6-8 months. Visa granted today! Hope the wait is not too long for those still waiting. Best Wishes to you all.
  2. Wow.. great advice thanks! Jennlx - I can't belive your 2 year olds seat was no where near yours!! How ridiculous! Appalled at the them for thinking you were the ones being unreasonable! I have booked the flights now & leave on 31.10.12 but to my relief my aunty is kindly going to come with me so I will not be on my own with my two little ones after all! Yay! I have managed to get the bassinet in the middle row for the longest flight DBX - SYD but unfortunately from MAN to DBX there was no bassinet available - it is a night flight so between the two of us we should be ok (fingers crossed the flight is not full so I could lay her down but that is really wishful thinking!) my 2 year old has a seat next to me (thank god) so I am sure we will be fine - won't be the best 24 hours of my life but A LOT BETTER now than what it would have been like on my own! I did receive an apology from Emirates on the phone and they assured me that their cabin crew would do what they could to assist. Also you can pay US$40.00 to have an escort with you in Dubai who will meet you at the terminal & ensure you get to your next flight safe & ontime. Wish I was more excited than this but it is going to be a long 3 - 5 month wait being away from my Partner - the kids are really going to miss their Daddy
  3. Thanks for the replies, I am going to ring emirates again & make a complaint as they were very rude. We are not quite into 2 months of our 6-8 month wait for the PR visa so my partner coming out on a tourist visa is not an option, we don't have the funds to be out of work that long as I am planning on flying at the end of October. Might look into Singapore & QANTAS as well.
  4. My partner and I are currently awaiting for his Subclass 100 Partner Visa to be processed, however due to our current financial situation here in the UK, we have decided that I should go out first (I am Australian) with our children aged 2 and 9 months while he waits for the grant. My question is has anyone flown alone with a toddler & a baby before? If so, how was your experience and do you have any advice to offer? I have flown back & forth over the past 8 years numerous times and once with our son when he was 3 months old but my partner was with me. I have always flown Emirates but was disapointed when I contacted Customer Services and asked what kind of assistance will be offered to me only to be told that "it is not Emirates responsibilty to look after my children" and perhaps I should "reconsider flying alone". I think I may have just got someone having a bad day but I was gobsmacked! Anyway, I would love to hear from anyone who has done this trip with two little ones... Thanks!
  5. Had an update from CO yesterday, he said our application is perfect but even though we have a very straightforward case we can expect to wait the entire 8 months of the 6-8month estimate as they can only process so many applications per month & we are a looong way down the queue! This will bring us to April 2013! We have decided that I will be flying out with the kids in November & my partner will follow in February on a Tourist Visa as the CO advised that he would be in touch 1 week before the visa is granted so he can go offshore. Not the ideal situation and certainly not what we had planned but it is our only sensible option at the moment.
  6. Same here, could have probably got the application in at least before July 1 if I had realised that the processing times would be changing and they were "capping" the number of applications. Looks like we are all in for a nice long wait ...
  7. Wow! We are similar! You wouldn't think it would have to take so long when we have kids and all we really want to do is "go home". We don't own a house here so basically once it is granted my partner needs to give 1 months notice at work, we sell everything we own and get on a plane! We do have the luxury of going straight to my parents place in Coffs Harbour where we will have free accommodation and child care until we get back on our feet. I didn't feel homesick that much living here before I had the kids but now I feel so isolated and am finding it hard without any of my family around, especially my mum
  8. Hi, I have been reading all these posts with knots in my stomach! I am the Aussie and have lived in the UK for 8 years and my OH, Jess is the Pom, we have been together 5 years and have two children 2yrs & 8 months old both whom are Australian Citizens by Descent and have Australian Passports. The Application was received & acknowledged by his Case Officer (AB) on 02.08.12 in London and the police check, medical & further evidence (utility bills etc.) was requested. It was also advised in this letter that the visa being processed would be Sublass 100. The Police Check & further evidence was sent on 06.08.12 & Jess went for his medical at the Spire Hospital, Manchester on 07.08.12. Before finding this forum I was under the impression that our particular circumstances would be cause for a quick processing time & was thinking we could be there for Christmas! I must be dreaming! I have been on Maternity Leave since November 2011 and am unable to return to work now as we simply cannot afford the cost of childcare for 2 children Full-Time so things are getting pretty tough financially on only one income! I am starting to think that maybe I may have to fly out with the children and start work whilst may partner stays here and waits for the Visa to be granted - there is no way we can afford to all live in the UK for another 7 months! Has anyone else been in a similar situation?
