  1. Sorry yes that would be helpful, manchester to Perth. Yes I spoke with staff at flight centre and they said she would be too big, might be best to speak with the airline but then it means she will still be on our knee when she's not sleeping, and she seems to sleep less and less lately! Just had a look on qantas and it only showed, manchester - heathrow - Singapore - Perth which is what I wanted to cut out the extra pointless 1 stop in London. The BA flight also stops in London. Good idea though for the last part of flight see if she can sit on our knee and how much cheaper it would be, think its only 5hours Singapore to Perth. thanks for your responses, will hopefully figure it out soon
  2. I Love Oz

    Arrived!

Good luck to you, keep us updated on how you settle x
  3. Our visa was granted in December so we are looking at flights for a validation/reccie trip in November 2013. The flight will be for me, my husband and our daughter who in Sept will be around 20months old. Our first idea was to stay over, 1 night or 2 in Dubai but due to holidays from work we can only really go for 3 weeks so don't want to take more days away from oz. Our next thought was to book a seat for our daughter even though we don't have to pay it is hard with them on you knee (we have just done a 10+ hour flight so know what it is like). Singapore have 2 stops so i won't consider this airline again. we looked at emirates who would want us to take the car seat if we booked her a seat, this would be ok if we could use the car seat in a hire car but I have been told a UK car seat is not legal in oz. the only airline I know of that you don't need a car seat is Qatar who also do 1 stop so this looks like our only option. Does anyone know of any other airline where you wouldn't need a car seat? thanks christine
  4. Glad they took it so well, good luck to you
  5. Cut down on carbs and sugar, worked for me, no junk, plenty of protein and small portions of veg. I ate berries also and nut as other fruit have natural sugar. but like others have said no quick you shouldn't loose weight to quickly as it will go back on just as quick
  6. Inheritance and savings for us, will have between 30 and 40k, won't sell house as done a lot of work on it and would only make a little if sold it now i know many people have done the move on a lot less so will try and be careful with our money when we first arrive, I can imagine how quickly it goes!
  7. Congratulations, looks like 2013 is your year, which part of oz you heading to and when do you plan to go? We got ours 17th dec and are planning a validation/reccie trip in summer.
  8. ha ha glad it wasn't just me who watched nothing to declare, think my hubby got sick of it being on!
  9. Thanks candygirl, when was your visa granted and when do you plan to go? What part of oz you heading to? Lots to do in 2013
  10. Happy new year to all on PIO, excited for what 2013 brings, health and happiness to all xx
  11. Good luck with your plans, I would be interested to find out what things have changed when you go back and how you feel. Have you been back to Scotland in the 25 years in oz? How does your hubby feel about this and how do you feel about leaving your youngest? All the best with it and happy new year
  12. Yeah our 2nd option is bunbury but it really does depend on jobs firstly for us, I've heard both areas are growing more and more esp mandurah so who knows what it will be like in a couple of years or so! we have been unsure too more as time goes on but only as we are worried about jobs, so we plan to go and activate the visa some time next year and will try and get as much info or even some interviews for jobs if we can, yep maybe see you in mandurah next year
  13. hi Taylor's 4, thanks, no had our medicals and police checks done first week of dec so that's why we were so surprised how quick it came thru, but prob best to do it earlier. We are looking at Perth as I have family there but cannot live near them only regional Perth so maybe mandurah, what about you? good luck with your app and hope it comes thru quick for you too
  14. Thanks Ellen, it wasn't too hard as we jetted off to Mexico over Xmas I know very hard to get my head round, yep lots to plan now! Exciting
  15. 489 visa for WA, 2-3 months from lodging visa, obviously the other parts first not included ie Vetassess and SS, good luck with ur visa app
  16. Hello all so our visa got approved 18th dec and we haven't been able to tell anyone but a few friends. We obviously didn't want to ruin our families Xmas as they would probably panic and think we are going tomorrow! mixed emotions for both of us when the news came through, happy, anxious, excited, nervous. The processing time was supposed to be 6 months but it came through a lot quicker and I kind of expected it to come quick although I was surprised at how quick. Next steps...... Tell family, look into flight prices and shipping quotes. We plan to do a reccie/validation trip next year and speak to as many people/companies as possible re jobs as we don't want to leave our jobs here esp hubby and come over and there be no work at all. so now it's more research, financial planning etc and hopefully it will run as smoothly as it can. hope you all had a lovely Xmas and happy new year  C xx
  17. Been twice, 1997 and 2011 next trip hopefully 2013
  18. because I have read many of his posts and they are all the same and getting back to the OP question why shouldn't he go just because it didn't work out for Paul that is his opinion which he always thinks is right. I am speaking up for once, no biggy
  19. They are not planning to emigrate just go on a WHV so why not, not everyone has the same opinion as you and you are not always right
  20. I would say go for it, life is short, there is a big world out there to go and see and it will be good life experience good luck
  21. I'd say spring, only because we don't seem to have a summer in the UK anymore and I like the crisp spring fresh air
  22. This is so wrong Gary, glad to hear you sorted out another job though. It's a hard situation, I have not told work as there is no need to until/if we get out visa and decide to go as 1months notice is the norm. So true about green eyes, some people will never be happy for you so a tough lesson learnt. Best of luck to you
