1. Hi, Joeybee, sounds familiar the confusional state your describing but it will pass rest assured. Firstly you need to get your nurse registraion approval from AHPRA, there is a process to work though and you will find lots of help on the official nurses thread. Once you have this then you can blitz potential employers with your CV. By all accounts it's harder to get a 457 now in the met areas less so in rural. Healthcare Recruitment Australia hold quite a few events in UK & Ireland recruiting for healthcare professionals for postions all over rural locations in Australia, DIAC reps attend these events too so you get lots of information about visa options. Google it and get yourself and oh along to an event. I've got 2 job offers on a 457 both within the aged care sector, one in a met area and the other in rural Victoria, just deciding which one is best. I tried lots of job ads on Seek but only got one respnse back. You will notice at the bottom of all the job ads the statement - You must have the right to live and work in Australia to apply for this position. Lots of nurses seemed to have applied directly hospitals with success, however that was no good for me because I don't have recent acute experience, mine is community. Good luck

Hi Andrew

I am 60 female, single and am moving to Adelaide on a 457 visa, expected start date early Jan 13. My daughter (only relative) is in Melbourne and will sponsor me once she has PR for a contributory parent visa in approx 2yrs which will then give me PR. I have an NHS Pension lump sum of £93,000, and an annual pension of £14,000. The salary for my job starts at $72677 p.a rising to $80,000 after 6 months post satisfactory appraisal. I can't sell my house and will be renting it out, however for peace of mind I would prefer to leave an income in the UK to cover the mortgage etc for any periods the house may without a tennent. I will need to fund my move myself so I need some money in Australa however I need to invest most, I will be renting not buying property in Aus. I will need to save for the cont parent visa and also may invest in a business later on. any advice, thanks Linda
