  1. Thinking about your comments about visiting them then leaving them , again and again and I see what you mean, each time they would be excited thinking that you had come to collect them and take them home and each time they would be let down and probably mope around . Its nice to get another perspective on things, as when your on the inside you just automatically panic at the thought of being seperated for 30 day. thank you.
  2. Thank you for your reply, that is just excellent news that they give you the attendents number so you can keep up to date with how they are doing. very reassuring. Quarantine rules remain the same, still 30 days but someone else on the pets section has posted a draft proposal from defra suggesting a 10 day quarantine stint instead of 30 days due to uk animals now having the rabies vac and tests etc, the 10 days would just be to ensure no external parasites were carried in, sounds brillaint and would be so much better for the pets sake. But we will have to wait and see what the actual outcome is, and there is no mention of timeframe for when new laws may be put in place.
  3. Thank you for the sympathetic hug and advise. Like you say, they will cope better than me in the long run im sure. Just a lot to think about but it will be worth it to have them with me for the rest of their lives .
  4. :animal-dog: Hello Sheps OH here. I have been informed by a shipping company that Perth, Byford quarantine is fully booked until new year 2013. Very disappointed as we are hoping to be flying out with our two little dogs around November 2012 to Perth. Shipper said that the only other option is to fly the dogs to Sydney instead as their quarantine is a lot larger and therefore doesn't fill up as as quick etc. I am trying not to get myself in a state about this but I am really concerned about them being in quarantine in Sydney for 30 days without me being able to visit them. The main worry for me is that they are both rescue dogs (we have had for 5 years) and I am worried that they may think that they have been abandoned again. One of my dogs is particularly shy around strangers and is never more than a foot away from me, I m a Nurse and when I did some night shifts during my training my partner told me he stayed up and was physically sick several times. On the plus side they are both very healthy, only 6 years old and will be sharing a kennel. I have a good offer of a job in Perth so we cant wait until January as I will loose the job. Is there anyone on here who has had experience of shipping dogs to another state, not being able to visit them then getting them an internal flight to where you are, if so how did the dog seem, did they cope, did quarantine ring if they were worried for example if dog didn't eat, seemed ill, do they mind you ringing them for updates. Also Ive seen on here that you can hire dog walkers, this sounds like a great idea, to keep the dogs fit and sane and i was thinking I could also request photos and perhaps send parcels of treats and a blanket with their home scent on it, are theses reasonable ideas? Any help GREATLY appreciated :wubclub:

  6. Hello Sheps OH here, thank you so much for posting this article. very very exciting news, we are hoping to fly the end of this year with my two best friends, sydney and baby and it would be amazing if they only had to do 10 days as opposed to 30 days quarrantine. its the most worrying part of the whole process for me. thank you so much for sharing this info and fingers crossed for all our pets sake :animal-dog:
  7. Hi there, How long was you in Oz and what Visa are you going for... It states that if you was in Oz for 12 months or more in the last 10 years then yes you need to get a AFP check, I think that its only for a PR type Visas... I was in Oz for 2 years about 8 years ago and i have recently applied for a 176 PR visa and my CO sent an email stating that i need a AFP check, and believe me its not quick, i applied online on the 25 June and only just got an email from them this morning stating that they have completed my check and going to send it off at the next available posting day... GooD LucK...
  8. Hello there and enjoy your journey, i went out there for 2 years and absolutely loved it and didnt want to come back... I went out there with £3.000 in my pocket and never got checked but i was told that they do random checks, don't know if its fact or fiction as i met a lot of backpackers and when i asked them NOT one said that they got checked. But what i can say is spend your money carefully, Not like me, for months before i went there i was planning how to spend my cash like a traveler, like eating beans for dinner, camping under the moon light and trying to reserve the money, Well that didnt work, as soon as i got there it was like one massive party, i spent £2.500 in less then 2 weeks, drinking out with other backpackers every night, going out to restaurants EVERY night until one sober day i checked my money and found that i had about £500 left in the bank, so i had to get the Indian Pacific Train to Adelaida (2 days from Perth to Adelaida) to get to a place called Mildura were they have Loads of working hostels and remember that you want to travel around and not stay in one place, again i met loads of backpackers in different places like Perth, Sydney, Melbourne, Cairns, Brisbane and when talking to them, they haven't travelled, they sort of got there and got comfortable until it was time to go back... And dont come back early as you will regret it, again met LOADS of backpackers that cut there WHV short because they was getting a little home sick and thinking its going to be great when they get back home to find that its just the same old s**t, only then to remember why they did it in the first place... Or and get a YHA card or any other recognised backpackers card there only about £15 for a year and can save you a lot of money on hostel and travel... GooD LuCk And ENJOY eVerY MINUTE................... Ps, sorry for going on... Dave...

  13. Hi there again, Im still waiting...Bloody thing... Were you backpacking around Australia or did you live in one place... I backpacked around and i only put the one address down on the application which was the first hostel that i stayed at, do you think that, that could be a problem...
  14. If you apply for a Australia Visa and you have a debt to the commonwealth then your CO will advise you on this and ask you to pay it back in 28 days or the visa will be declined...
  15. I'm from Hull and What do you mean by "Glad i live 13 miles west of the place" 13 miles That would be Newport, Brought is is about 8 and a half...
  16. Hello there, we sent for our AFP check on the 25.6.12 and we are still waiting... The only thing we got was a Ref number from them when we paid... I sent them an email the day before we did the online version and we got a reply last week, so that shows you just how quick they are... When did you send yours off...

  19. Thanks guys for all your replies, It just got me wondering about what Sponsorship was, So what about family sponsorship, Do they have to be some kind of guarantor for the persons that there sponsoring like support if they have no money and pay for medical bills!!! Also, what is "First Time Home Owner"
  20. Hi there Guys, just waiting to go to work (dont you just love shift work) and was just thinking about our WA state sponsorship... Well we have applied for a 176 visa with a WASS and was wondering if it cost the Western Australia to sponsor us and if they have to pay anything else, So what actually is a State Sponsorship is it just a "Yes, we will have you" or a guarantee to the government that they will pay some kind of cost that we might make... Been looking on the old tinternet but cant find anything... So if Anybody can shine a little light on it for me and if it does cost, how much is it...:animal-sheep: Thanks... Dave...
