  1. Hello there every one, ive not been on here for a bit (a year) does any of you guys still come on here and read this thread, would love to know how you guys are getting on...
  2. Well Hi there guys, not been on here for a little while been so busy... Well, our little dogs fly out to Sydney on the 20th of November and our flights are booked for the next day 21.11.12 one way to Perth, its all existing stuff, i think the best part was telling the manager im off with the only reply from him was "O great, that's the week Gary's off, that's going to leave us short staffed" Well Penwig (managers nickname), pull your sleeves up and get stuck in then, or should i put off my dream move for a week to help you out, no that's right, pull up them sleeves im offfffffff... Its hard to try and sell everything that we own, like the washing machine, when do we sell it, the car, my partner needs it for her work so when do we sell that!!! I found it hard to try and find a holiday let as we have left it late and all the ones that we have seen are a bit high on the pricing list, plus its hard to find somewhere that will allow the dogs, but we have found one in Quinns Rock, its nice but about 40 minute drive to the city centre... How is it all going with everyone else, i like reading the updates...
  3. Thank you very much Ponte pom, very encouraging!!!!!! We trust our friend and to be honest its only short term and we plan to be out and about exploring the beautifull WA so not too worried about the houses not being up to scratch xx
  4. Hey guys, just to keep you updated, i have emailed several estate agents in perth about some properties we are interested in and explained our situation and they were all more than happy for our friend to view the property for us and to put in an application for us. We are just in the process of putting together some supporting documents, eg brochure of our house up for rent in the Uk to show we are house proud etc. photo of the dogs, to show they are small and clean looking etc, letter from our employees from oz(still awaiting these) visa grant letter, passports etc and covering letter saying a little bit about us (selling ourselves as decent people hehe!). When we have all of this ready we will be keeping a close eye on the houses and areas we are interested in and will be checking when the open dates are and our friend will be there, taking a million pics for us no doubt! yes some may say its a risk but to be honest, we are hoping to be spending the majority of our time (when not working!!)in the pool, by the pool barbqueing with a cold beer or down the beach or at the markets, not sat in the living room pondering on whether the carpet/ wallpaper is a close likeness of the pics on the net/ estate brochure. ps good lcuk Denni, may see you around kingsley, I will be the tanned, relaxed looking district nurse( have secured a job distrcit nursing based at kinglsey, my patch will be from cottesloe beach up to yanchep, talk about living the dream.......................
  5. Hey Guys Sheps OH here, just an update for you all. Sydney and Babys flights are booked for Novmeber 20th 930pm, flying heathrow to Sydney. Very tearfull moment when I was on the phone to Transfur and he confirmed the flights were booked. I broke down on the phone(looking back now bit embarrassed) i dont know if it was because it all seems real and I was discussing the practical issues and the actual flight with him and I just thought oh my poor little dogs. I know they will be absolutely fine but anyone who has ever loved a dog will know how i feel. Dogs flights containers also arrived yesterday, I tried to make it an exciting event and put loads of squeaky toys and treats in there and made it a big game so they associate the crates with positive things. The dogs have been in and out of them multiple times and seem very relaxed about them so I haven't been too emotional today, although TOTALLY TOTALLY dreading the goodbye at the airport, but am trying to block that thought as much as possible and think about the day my two are running free on a beach somewhere in sunny WA. thank you for everyone's help, lovely to have people to share anxieties and stories, my OH thinks im raving mad because all he can think about it insurance, renting our house, money etc etc.....:animal-dog:
  6. Hi there, the OH is a nurse and she is starting a job with silver-chain (out in the community) and i think she starts around the $28 an hour and she gets something else on top of her wage which makes it even higher (cant remember what its called) and shes only been qualified for 1 and a half years, so i would think more money for more experience...
  7. we are not there until November but would love to meet up with everyone when we get there... Subiaco, what a lovely place, we liked to go there on a Sunday, dont they have an indoor market there!!! If you dont mind me asking, how long did it take from finding a place to been aloud to move in, and what exactly is the process of it...
  8. sorry partner has job in osborne park not kewdale !!
  9. Hey guys Sheps OH here. We will be arriving in Perth mid november 2012. i have a job district nursing in kingsley amd my partner has a job in kewdale tyre fitting. We are keen on the areas of Mullaloo, Ocean Reef , Sorrento and Hillarys. I also have fallen in love with Quinns Rocks but feel this may be too far out initially?? We would like to know if it is possible to secure a long term let whilst still in UK, we have a good friend in Perth who would do viewings for us and do the expression of interest , statements etc. does anyone have experience of securing a let in this way or any advise please . We are due to start work roughly 3 weeks after arriving so would love to get settled asap, plus our 2 dogs will be out of quarrantine after 30 days of arriving in oz so we would like to get then settled too. we have researched real estate au and found several properites we love, thank you for any help :wubclub:
  10. WoW, bet your sooooooooooooo excited, tell me more........... With us its been going well, We have paid for half for the dogs so they have there flight permit thingy and there crates are getting delivered to us some time this week... The house is up on the market to LET, and been non stop at looking at flights (cheapest was from that IOM £515 each with Malaysian airlines) and places to live on the other side of the world, we also did a car-boot (Our first one, ever) last Sunday to get rid of bits and bobs and WHAT an experience that was, people opening my boxes for me, and buying stuff off me for about 50p then seeing them sell it on there stand for about £5 (cheeky buggers) Also it was good to tell the boss im off, No love loss there... And is it just me, when telling people that we have our visa granted and that we are off, they still seem surprised as if its the first time that you have told them, i have told loads and there like "what, your going, going to Australia" i wouldn't mind but i have been telling these people for the last 5 years that we want to go and as it was getting closer i kept them all up to date...
  11. Hi there Guys, how is every one getting on...
  12. HELLO there Pablo, you return, It does get Busy after the visa gets granted doesn't it, looking at flights, accommodation, places to live, renting the house out and so on... Well we are looking at around the 20Th of November, we would love to live up at Quinns Rock but most of the jobs that available for me are south so maybe we will have to try and go more central. I know what you mean about the house prices but what you have to remember is that your earning the Ozzy dollar, i remember when we first looked at the prices and when i found that it was $500 per week not month i nearly fainted.lol Well glad to see that you have not left us... When are you looking at going...
  13. That made me laough "Wonder where Pablo is" after all that stuff he said and going on and on about people leaving this thread after they got there visa granted lol WoW one week of work to go then perth's beaches it is... How long is every one moving into a holiday apartment for, do you think that one week would be enough or is that pushing it Or are any of you going stright into a rented accommodation...

  16. Hi there Dean74, i have only been told by one person to not go there as they said that there are a lot of council owned type home there which are occupied by the unemployed , drug users and drunks so it attracts the crime, that's why the rent is a little cheaper. but when looking, there are some nice home around there so i dont know myself. Like i said it was only one person that has said this to me, as one persons view is not everyone's, that's why i have come here to ask for a little help from you guys, i have only just began to do my research and i know that some of you guys like yourself have been researching a lot longer then me,so a little help from all you guys would be a great help...
  17. WOW, right next to Kings Park, it is so beautiful there in Kings Park, when we lived there we went there a lot, once you have lived there i think you might find it hard to leave LoL... Rockingham looks nice, and just a short walk to the beach and the rent looks good prices for were you are... BUT WOW, not long now until you board that flight... Pleases keep us all updated with how it all goes...
  18. Hi there guys and thank you all for the great messages, we still cant stop smiling:biggrin: All you guys that are going to Perth, were about are you all going to, we are looking at quinns rock North of Perth, we know that its about a 30 minute drive to the city center but that's not really a problem... So were abouts are you guys going and do you know which places to avoid, we did live there about 7 years ago, but things change, have been told to avoid clarkson and butler, any help would be great... Plus are any of you going straight into rented accommodation or are you doing a holiday let for the first few weeks...
  19. We are looking at the middle of November, the OHs brother has a best friend that works for BA, so hoping that he can maybe work his magic with a cheap upgrade, You never know, But if he cant we will be looking at other flights soon WoooooP WoooooP...

  21. Hi there guys, i would like to tell you all that we got our VISA GRANTED this morning... We had the OHs meds finalised saturday morning then the vise today... Well guys good luck on all you that are still waiting, you will all soon have the meds done then that BiG VISA grant, it was a long wait for us with the meds, but its worth it in the end...
  22. ONE VISA GRANTED THIS MORNING... Well Guys this morning at 1.12am We got that email saying that the visa has been granted and we cant stop smiling, we decided that we wanted to go back to oz 7 years ago and we have been working hard since and the hard work finally paid off... The OH got the email and when we found out that the visa had been approved we couldn't get back to sleep, It OK for me as im off work for another week as i had a operation on my finger, but she has to go to work, poor bugger... And I would like to say a BIG THANK YOU to every one that has helped and supported us in this long, hard, and emotional journey... Still cant believe it,we have wanted this for so long and i dont think that its sunk in yet... WOOP WOOP
  23. Well Guys the OH`s Meds have been finalised today the 1.9.12 And on a saturday!!! So you never know we could have the cheeky little visa by the end of next week...:animal-sheep:
  24. Hi there and Thanks Guys for your support... Well Guys a little bit of joy today, just checked the DIAC website and the OH`s meds have changed, it says "1.9.12. Health requirements MET" On a saturday!!! So we can not help but get a little excited by this and maybe the little rascal of a Visa could SOOOOOOOOOOOOON be upon us, But like i said there is always a wait with us as this is another example as there are loads of people having there meds and Visa granted on the same day, But Ooooooo no, not us!!! But that's OK, as long as we have it next week, i dont think we can take anymore of this and we just want a normal sleeping pattern back instead of waking up every 2 hours checking and im getting gray whiskers in my chin... We want to book them flights and i cant wait to tell the boss that im off:animal-beaver:
  25. YOU BEAUTY... congratulations to you... Grab A BeeR... Well nothing for us this cold morning, Like you the OH was referred on the 9Th of July, looks like we will hit the 8Th week mark for meds referred and ours was pretty much straight forward with no extra test to be done and not in a HR country, what is the record for the longest wait for meds to be finalised, not involving having extra tests to be done... From the beginning to the last, every thing as always gone to the maximum of waiting time for us, say somthing says there is a wait between 2 to 4 weeks you can bet for us its a 10 week wait... Think i will have a few beers tonight...And tomorrow...
