  1. I just can't understand how it takes sooo long to send, we sent postcards that arrived back in the UK within 4 days (I was impressed!) Yep 10 weeks of 'it is being processed' followed by 'your decision is in the post.' It is killing me! Someone must enjoy writing those application status updates!
  2. I guess, the advice is just to get your application in asap!! I am nearly there!!
  3. A friend of mine has tried joining from 'the mob' but they are only looking at submariners I believe. I think that this may be a closed option I'm afraid. Where do you want to live?
  4. I heard the visa bureau charge for every telephone conversation is this correct? I guess all agencies have their charges and styles, so it is up to you to find the one that best suits you...
  5. No I mean it takes 3 weeks for them to send it back to me. It has been over 10 weeks gurrgggggghhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  6. Yep it is supervised teaching days and not school visits. I guess you've worked that out by now! Waiting for my AITSL assessment result, it's in the post... (They said up to 3 weeks, really?!)
  7. I guess if you were tring to rush a visa through they are worth it, however if you can afford to make a few mistakes on the way (not saying you would!) why not save the cash?!
  8. I've just come back from a holiday there, staying with friends. I loved it, my wife loved it we want to move there! The beaches are lovely, the marina is lovely, good parks for the kiddies and there seemed to be plenty to do. There are certainly a few Brits about, but I think that is due to affordability of the area as well. I have to say I met a lot of friendly aussies at a local school when I dropped my god daughter off, so there must be a few about! I even quite liked the travel into the city via Transperth, it is a lot cheaper than UK transport! Obviously for me it was still a holiday and this needs to be factored in to my rose tinted view!
  9. I think it will be an issue as this is clearly stated. Before I sent my application off I noticed I had not sufficient evidence to prove my minimum of 45 days supervised practice and was told that I needed to prove that I had completed these amount of days. Therefore I had a bit of ringing/emailing around to do this to ensure I could prove this. I hope you prove me wrong!
  10. Ah thanks Milliemolly!! Seems a bit strange that on this type of temp visa you don't have to pay, but I am not complaining!!
  11. How blinking annoying!! Maybe there are a surge of applicants due to pension increases and new Ofsted criteria?!!!!!!!!!!!1
  12. Pinklily and myself are both talking about WA. I am talking about the regional visa 475 (family sponsor in my case) and Pinklily I thought was the same? I may be wrong! Rachall is looking to move to Sydney on a 457 visa (employer sponsored). I hope I've got this all right!!
  13. Mine was early to mid February! I just think any contact would help, I just don't want to pester with emails! I have had the same email about processing and targeting a 10 week turnaround for what seems forever. I remember the day I saw that message and being so excited!
  14. I am aware I am not the most patient person in the world however... The AITSL ten week turnaround is this the case?! I haven't received any notices of any issues with my assessment and it is now overdue. Perhaps no news is good news? Anyone got any experiences to ease my mind or not, as the case may be!!
  15. Their not there!! I blame it on tiredness! I had a look yesterday and didn't see anything. I looked at the DIAC visa entitlement and it said secondary applicants are able to work and study on a 475 visa. It just didn't say whether I would have to pay for the privilege!
  16. You need a close relative to sponsor you, but it depends on the visa. Some visas allow grandparents to sponsor you and some don't for example (discovered this two days ago!) My uncle is able to sponsor me in WA for example. I am not sure on the trade qualification I'm afraid.
  17. My mum is ok with it, but now two of my sisters have expressed an interest in leaving the UK as well. In which she is now unhappy, it's my fault!!

    Help

Get a WHV and try to get sponsored when out there. I am always being told the best way to get work is by seeing them and allowing them to judge you in person!!
  19. This indicates to me that I am doing the right thing by dragging my family thousands of miles away!! Thanks!!
  20. Interstingly the 475 visa is not on there list? This is what I am looking at to WA... More digging is needed!!
  21. This would be really useful for me also, as I am aware that you have to pay for schooling for children. Is this correct? I am hoping that the children wouldn't be considered as international students with stupidly high fees? Any help appreciated!
  22. I think a reccie is worthwhile. I had never been, but have started the visa process by paying for qualification assessments and IELTS and decided to pop over. Besides a bit of cash what have you got to lose? Myself, wife and children were instantly convinced that we were making the right decision to apply for Oz. Although it was a holiday I organised meetings with schools, WA department for education (I am a teacher!) and recruitment agencies. Almost a working holiday I guess! If you need peace of mind it is the right thing to do, I guess what helped us was the fact that we stayed with a friend of mine and an uncle, this kept the cost down and we also went for two weeks (Easter holidays)
