Hi Guys, Just wondering how things are in Oz with regard to birthday parties for kids.Do they tend to have parties with school friends like here or is it just a family thing? Also what kinds of gifts do you buy for your kids friends for their birthdays-- is it much the same as here like toys, bags girlie stuff, books etc. I tend to buy gifts within £20 the max. Is there a comparable figure there? Any info gladly received. I also tend to buy stuff and hoard during the Claires sales and they make handy presents so could actually bring some stuff over if needed.

From my experience in the Uk the main difference is that to get an offset mortgage or to get one at a competitive rate one needs to have a bigger figure to put down. If you have savings lying around then definitely an offset is a good thing. Also for people in business-- as they can put in all their income into the account and it will lower their mortgage for them and then at the end of the year they can take money out to pay their taxes. Whereas if it's a standard variable one maybe able to get a competitive rate for a lower downpayment.

Hi,--I've just been looking for rentals on realestate--there is a furnished rental at Kangaroo point for 600/wk in a nice posh looking hotel/apartment. And another at gymea--available on a 3 month lease._--have a look--I think Gymea isnt too far from Miranda and from the maps it looks close to the train station.

<p><p>The lamb was great thanks to all the advice I got. Pablos trick actually worked! We are kind of in limbo as our employer has been busy and she hasn't actually moved the papers necessary for the visa. Oh job finishes by mid june to top it all--that means he would have to locum till the visa comes through.</p></p>
<p><p>I had just got off the phone with 'employer' --hopefully she will start moving things now.</p></p>
