  1. Getting a bit ahead of myself now as we don't have any visa yet, but are you sure its only 1 year that you have to be a PR? So would the 2 years TR count towards your time in the country in terms of applying for citizenship?? I'm sure I read it was 4 years as a PR.... Could have completely read it wrong though!!
  2. Try not to worry too much! It will only stress you out. This is just a forum and only a small percentage of applicants. I know the wait is horrible but you have a whole lifetime together and in 20 years when you look back it wont seem so long. Just because you have been told one thing and someone has been told something else doesn't mean that's definitely whats happening. Maybe your CO is just saying April to cover themselves and you will get it next week. You never know. And the person who applied in Sept. and was told March well I'm delighted for them if that happens but they could get an awful shock when they are still waiting (p.s. really hope that doesn't happen and it does get granted in March!) I know this forum can be a lot of help but take some of what's said with a pinch of salt. We don't know all the circumstances of people's situations. Sorry if this sounds harsh but I felt exactly like you a month or so ago and I just had to change my thinking or it was going to make the wait much tougher! PS Happy Australia Day to everyone!!
  3. I think they tell you along the way if there are any issues. Once they tell you nothing else is required its pretty much certain that you are getting the visa. Thats the impression I got from my migration agent.
  4. We applied in July and were told 6-8 months... maybe there are a whole heap of 6 - 8 month July applicants who haven't found this forum yet and there are loads of grants happening we don't know about? I hope so! I don't like to think all of us are just sitting waiting! Hopefully some people out there are getting good news!
  5. I didn't send originals of anything - just certified copies. You should be fine with that. Yeh the wait is long and agonising! I was hoping it would be 4-5 months when we applied and were told 6-8 months.
  6. I wouldn't suggest you do that! Your CO might turn around and say no... its obviously a case by case basis that they agree to grant earlier... I asked our migration agent if we could do that and he said its not worth it cause you could piss off the CO and have them turn around and change their minds.. - worst case scenario but you wouldn't want to wait all this time for that to happen!
  7. Any July applicants been granted the last week or so?? Applied 14th of July so 6 months today for me... was told 6-8 months so the real countdown begins now!
  8. Thanks everybody! I called the shipping company today and they said I can pack them in sea freight but not air freight which is good! And that partners stuff should be fine =) To be honest, I would have left his stuff behind as long as I could take my nail polish!!
  9. Congrats Kelloggs30! That is exciting news for you and selfishly for me - we applied for my partners visa on 14th July and were told 6-8 months and our migration agent was told to expect it in March so it is good to know they don't always stick to what they say! Can I be a pain and ask who your CO was?
  10. Hi Everyone, Just wondering if anyone knows if you are allowed to ship nail polish?? I have a fair few bottles... say 30 or so? I read that its a flammable liquid and don't want to leave them behind!! Also, on the customs forms if you are putting other peoples stuff in your boxes you need to show their passport and visa. If I put a pair or 2 of my partners shoes and a few items of clothing and don't put any details about him on the forms would that be ok?? He doesn't have a visa yet. Thanks in advance!
