1. Oil prices had bugger all to do with the recession.
2. Dunno why this is quoted so many times as a bad thing. Economies would collapse, social order would disintegrate, if oil production wasn't protected....................seems logical that any nation would want to protect the supplies, and the constant emphasis that it's all about oil company revenues seems very naive to me.
3. "It would be good for Australia, where the unspoken reality is that Australians are actually quite keen to encourage more immigration from Britain" yeah! Us waussies need someone to take the plss out of!
4. It still costs 'em. They only save the tax they would have paid had the expenditure been profit, not the expenditure.
5. And faster.......................I want it and I want it now syndrome
6. That's bloody cheap but how are you going to eat all that ham???? I pay 4.99 a kilo for a full or half ham. Used to pay 3.99 but they've put the price up..
7. Buy a joint of Ham, (they're already cooked here) steak it, and cook as you would gammon, but only until it's thoroughly hot....................hard pressed to tell the difference.
8. Easy......................look at Bosnia/Sarajevo/srebrenica/ and the UN's impotence there. The failure to act to protect the Muslim populace led to the radicalisation of many of them. There's absolutely no need for "War". Surgical strikes are all that's needed. It will also send a clear message to Iran and hezbollah in lebanon to keep their noses out of Syria's affairs. America and it's allies should act without waiting for the inevitable Chinese and Russian veto at the security council.
9. Luckily, we applied for her licence when she was here last year.
10. Will try later...................still very busy. The grand-daughter's got 80 hrs in so another 20 hrs and she'll take het test and hopefully get a permanent job at Australia Zoo. Unfortunately, I think the Jehova's or "Born Again's" have got to her :biglaugh:
11. I'm not posting mine 'cause of my rose tinted specs............................it's all lies I tell you!
12. No way! They've learned their lesson. No boots on the ground and purely "surgical strikes" as a slap on the wrist for Assad and to force him to the negotiating table.
13. Yep, he did it in the arvo as the briefing was to be held in the evening. Of course, some commentators tried to hint at the briefing being held in the evening just to accommodate Rudd cooking in the arvo. As much as i dislike Rudd, I dislike all attempts at smearing (anyone) more.
14. That was a smear Bob. The film was pre-recorded.

McMansions

I once had a (fairly) newly arrived Pom bricky visit us for advice about the area. He'd been here 7 weeks and did nothing but moan about prices, weather, and building standards. He even pointed out how shoddy my place was with all those holes between the bricks...............................errrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrm???..............................they're weep holes mate................................no wonder he couldn't find work.
16. Isn't it strange that we have all these responses bemoaning (lack of) service and disnterested retail staff, when i can clealry remember, not so long ago, a thread that went off at a tangent bemoaning how often folk are approached by sales staff and how "pushy" they are...................seems they're damned if they do, and damned if they don't.

McMansions

Speaks volumes.............not about the house owners either. A lot can be read into the way you think about this subject. Why can't you accept that some folk simply like Mcmansions and don't commit their hard earned money to them just to show off...............
18.

Not me....................I'm a good boy :-)

19.

Thanks for asking Fi. Have been snowed under and will post as soon as.

20. yep! kids eh!?? 3 yrs at uni studying psychology and she goes to work in a zoo!...................whatever makes her happy though.
21. Soime from when my grand-daughter was working as a volunteer at australia zoo.........................she's out for good in July and already has a job lined up there
22. If he's a lazy bugger, (and I haven't yet met one who isn't) and is carrying a small parcel/packet for you that needs signing for, he'll leave a docket in your letterbox telling you to pick it up at the post office................as opposed to getting off his arse and knocking on your door.
23. That word, was in use in the british forces as far back as I can remember and still is.
24. Figjam...................someone with a high opinion of themselves who let's you know it............Fnck I'm good, just ask me
