  1. I see that this post is from a few months ago but just thought I'd contribute. I'm 35 and just qualified last year as a radiographer after completing the access course. I did the degree with 3 young children and whilst challenging, it can be done. Any questions just ask
  2. Hi, I am currently studying diagnostic radiography. I still have two years left on my course but we are hoping to end up in Oz in the future (our 2nd attempt) I just have some questions.... - would I be able to get a visa as a newly qualified or would I need experience? -if I don't need experience which visas are available? - if I do need experience, how much? I'm not really sure how it all works as we were coming on my husbands previously and the process was completely different. Thanks in advance Vicky
  3. i understand that it changes constantly but just wanted to know as of now would I be able to get a job straight from graduating?? assuming that it is still on the list etc...
  4. Hi, our family was meant to move to Australia 2.5 years ago on a 457 visa but unfortunately we firstly got scammed by a company then we found another and started the visa application, then all of the jobs fells through. We decided after struggling to find another job that we would put Australia on the back burner for a while. fast forward a couple of years..... I am starting uni in September to study Diagnostic Radiography. My reason for this post is that we would still like to go to Australia but would I be able to gain employment straight from qualifying or would I have to work here first??? we would like to go ideally straight from qualifying for the main reason that my daughter would be finishing primary school that year so would be able to start high school there with everyone else. sorry for the long post Vicky
  5. Hi, I noticed that this was a while ago. Are there still any job opportunities? My husband currently works for Perkins Engines/caterpillar Thanks Vicky
  6. Right I've just done a bit of digging, Katie007 contacted me privately. Also ive just looked on Skype and down under placements Skype address is 'worldwide-recruit' are dup and wwr the same company? I feel sick thinking our lives are being played with like this. Vicky
  7. We were approached on here too for someone recommending dup. Really thought they were legit. We had a Skype conversation with him, but now keep getting contradictory emails back. We were told the vetassess would be back in 6weeks. That was October. Emotionally we are all over the place. It's not fair.
  8. We are in a bad situation too as hubby got made redundant a couple of weeks ago. Although we are yet to sell our house but we are not in a very good position either with no money coming in and mortgage etc to pay. It is not a nice position to be in From what down under have said, I would have thought you will be sorted by August, its another 6months away, try and think positive and think at at least you have a job until then. I know how you feel with the sleepless nights etc..... I hardly sleep at the moment and seem to have a permanent migraine from stressing about how we are going to feed the kids and pay bills. Just trying very hard to remain positive that it will all come together soon Vicky P.s is it Colin you speak with? Has he said anything about which companies will be interviewing?
  9. AJ - thanks for.your positive attitude, I'm sure we all feel so.much better now.... Angie Pike - we have been told the same as you. Where abouts are you looking to move to? We are hoping to be near Brisbane or the gold coast. Vicky
  10. You can't get a 457 visa without a job. Our agent says as long as he can get a job and a visa issued before the deadline we can start work after Vicky
  11. We received an email from downunder placements last night saying that as long as a visa has been issued by 20th march then we can start after that. Which is good as that's only 5 weeks away. They are still trying to find jobs for us too but say the floods are not helping. Hopefully we will hear something soon because I hate this feeling of being in limbo. Vicky
  12. Nope nothing here either. Are we still expected to be there by march 20th? Vicky
  13. We did exactly the same with our agent and heard nothing back. We keep getting contradicting replies back. We are finding it really hard at the moment as we were supposed to be leaving in 6 ish weeks with our children5,3&2 but can't yet book anything which is really unsettling. We have been told that we can have our visa by march 20th then.leave when we are ready. Is this the case as I've read that we have to he there by then. Vicky
  14. Hi, we are applying for a LA Visa through downunder placements with OBI in Brisbane. However we are being told different things. Are any of you able to tell me what is/nt correct. We have been told that we need to have a job in place before a visa can be issued?? We have also been told that we need to have the visa by march 20th but can leave for oz after that (house to sell) but from what Ive read this isn't correct. Thanks Vicky
  15. This is an random thought but when looking on real estate we have noticed that all the baths look tiny. Why is this?? This is not a good thing for me as I love my baths no matter the weather. :realmad: Vicky
  16. Thanks for the replies. I think you are right they all seem pretty much the same Vicky
  17. Hi, we are hopefully moving to Brisbane in March. We need to set up a bank account but which one do we use??? The main four ive heard of are; Westpac, Commonwealth, NAB, and ANZ bank. We want a joint account, a savings account and an account for each of our children (once we get there) If this makes a difference. Thanks in Advance Vicky
  18. I smiled when I read this......my son who is nearly 3 and a half has got a strawberry birthmark on his cheek. My daughter who has just turned 5 has always called it a kiss from the angels and doesn't want his to go away. It has faded loads now and we don't even notice it. We were offered laser but refused it as we decided it should be his decision. We found adults to be worse than children. He goes to school nursery and playgroup before that and has never had any teasing etc.... (we were concerned) I think it helps that he is comfortable with it being there (we have friends that tried to hide there sons, took pictures from the other side etc...) He was even watching peppa pig one day and said that she had a birthmark on each cheek he he. No point to this post really, just wanted to say I don't think people really notice or tease Vicky
  19. Wow, you have been lucky. Ours has been on the market since august. It's priced low already but just not happening especially with christmas here. Vicky
  20. Hi has anyone managed to sell their house yet? We had an offer that fell through, so are back to square one. So frustrating as we were hoping to be in oz now Vicky
  21. Hi, We are about to apply for the 457 LA visa and need to sort out medical insurance. We won't be moving to Australia until March 2013. When do we put the start date of the medical insurance as to gain the visa? Do we put it as now or a date in March?? Also do we have to keep this insurance going until we have a permanent visa?? If we cancel it are we in breach of the visa requirements? Thanks in advance Vicky
  22. Hi, I'm from Gnosall, not sure if you've heard of it, its about 20minutes away. It hasn't changed at all. The only reason I go is because the shopping is better than stafford Vicky
